His size is an advantage when it comes to skill and reaction times. His low centre of gravity helps him to change direction quickly. David Silva, Bernardo Silva, and Sergio Aguero are about the same height, but they are footballing giants. Also, there's this chap called Lionel Messi, who is the same height as Rico Lewis. It doesn't seem to cause him a problem.

At Arsenal we call it an underlapping fullback rather than the overlapping fullback, its what we brought Timber in to do and we have seen other players do it a few times. gets an extra player in the front line. I am not sure I really like it all the time it has meant martinelli is holding width to much and not getting close to goal. Pep had a simular issue with grealish that wants to be inside but had to limit his game to hold with hence pep has solved this by buying actual widemen wingers rather than inside forwards like the salah's and saka's of this world that need an overlap. This is where Pep solves the problems and is getting success from this tactic this season in my mind.

City played with a box midfield for 4 years. But how it was created changed over the years. In recent times, they did it how you described - with John Stones/CB pushing up to play in a double pivot next to Rodri. What City used to do (2020-2022) was that "on paper" Bernardo and KDB started in the two 8 positions but Bernardo dropped deeper into the Double Pivot next to Rodri while _Cancelo_ moved up into the Double 10, next to KDB, and was the second most creative player for City. City have basically gone back to pushing a FB up into a 10 position but have now forgone moving another player down.

Pep said this!!! haha Pep hasn't used inverted wb's being higher than the midfield as a staple, but Ange does as part of his system. However, Ange's system is so fragile defensively, where this video shows that Pep has used Lewis to be a threat as a false 10/inverted wingback but also offers defensive solidity
