Sad to hear this. This is all the stuff that I teach at our college.

I understand the main differ between our educational systems. In our Institute (in Ukraine) we did an accent on "art of cinema", but didn't make a lot of practice ( Cinema without practice is impossible.

Agreed. It seems that colleges either concentrate on either the artistic side or the technical side. I work for a 2-year institution, so we have chosen to concentrate on the technical side of things. A good 4-year will combine the 2 sides.

Maybe you are right. May I ask your contact in Facebook or an e-mail? We are making a programm "Behind the scene" for young filmmakers and of course I have a bunch of ideas )

Such a laborious and tedious task. Imagine doing it pre-computers and printers and photocopiers using typewriters and duplicating machines.

Is it possible to give different descriptions to the same Character/Prop in different scenes?
@Readyrobby6 жыл бұрын
I have the free software. I can go to my finished script under "Type Set/PDF", and easily transform it to a PDF. However, when I try to do this with anything else, I can note that my Adobe PDF trial has run out. The obvious answer to pay what Adobe wants, however I was perplexed that I can use it on my script, but not on my other items in Celtx. Is there a way I can do that? I've already gone to "Print" and done everything I need to, however I keep getting the same message from Adobe. Thanks for the video.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! However, I have a PC and I can't seem to save the individual reports as a PDF. Any suggestions? Thank you!
@chinfat8 жыл бұрын
+Tirzah Arose The only way (that I know of) you can do a PDF on a PC is to install Adobe Acrobat Professional. If you subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud, you have access to the software.

Hi can someone tell me which version of Celtx this is? Is the one from the app store or the free one from 10 years ago ? thx

Best tutor in post area. Just quick question, is there any way you can shift around those scheduled scenes in calendar section because you might change your idea after you drop the scenes into the calendar during scheduling. Thanks
@chinfat8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Li Absolutely. Once they are scheduled you can simply grab the scenes on the calendar and drag them to a different day and time.
@MPA1888 жыл бұрын
+chinfat Thanks, it works for me now, somehow it didn't before. The only drawback I can see is its call sheet, there is no section for cast call time, only crew call on the top.

The lists keeps on modifying on its own, most of the times it displaces a couple of elements marked earlier.

Thank you for this - it's great! Have you tried Adobe Story? It seems to have similar features and it's free.
@chinfat8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Chase Yes. I tried it and couldn't quite figure out how to open its full functionality. Adobe does not offer much support for that software. I even tried to contact their tech support with some questions and they did not know who to direct me to.
@Julietdjones7 жыл бұрын
I've been using Writerduet - the basic is free or you can purchase and have more options. I can't afford First Draft and Celtix claims to be free, but all I got was a 30 day trial and all my work in those 30 days would have been if I hadn't copied and pasted my work into Word as a backup. If I purchase either Celtix or Final Draft my work will reappear but, for now, it's out of my budget. I really like writerduet though and it has some great features

At 6:52 you mention that the revised script has to be printed out on blue paper I was wondering why that is?
@chinfat3 жыл бұрын
Every time changes are made to the script (one shooting has started. The "sides" for the scenes being shot are distributed to cast and crew. They need to have the updated pages with changes. Every time there are changes, they update to a new color. It's ensure that you have the updated pages and not an earlier version of the script.

What about a really quick flashback the kind of flashback thatashback it's less than a few frames that's merely a single shot how would you label that would it count as its own scene or would it be a sub scene, If the shot before the flashback was scene 2 what would the Flashback be, would it be 2A or would it be 3
@chinfat2 жыл бұрын
There are a few ways of doing that. But normally (especially if the flashback is in a different location) that would be three different scene headings. So Scene #2 would be INT. TED"S BEDROOM -NIGHT. Then Scene #3 would be EXT. PARK - DAY FLASHBACK (Flashback is often added to the scene heading, then at the end of the scene in the description would be END FLASHBACK). Then Scene #4 would be INT. TED'S BEDROOM again. About the only time a scene becomes something like 2A is when the script has been locked, scheduled, and shooting has begun. At that point the scene numbers are locked. Say the director wishes to add a scene between Scene 2 and Scene 3 (maybe an establishing shot of the house). That scene would become Scene 2A. That way it does not change the scene numbering for all the other scenes that have already been scheduled.

Can't Celtx compute eighths automatically?
@chinfat4 жыл бұрын
This is the older software, which does not calculate eighths. The new online Celtx does calculate eighths.

+chinfat I have this "offline" desktop version on my iMac. Works great, but just doesn't have the interactivity online where a whole team can work on the project together. But for writing the script, it's great. download.cnet.com/Celtx/3000-13631_4-10850080.html
