It's exciting to recognize some of the wonderful cast of the Netflix KABUKI AKADOUSUZUNOSUKE. I'm so glad to have watched this behind-the-scenes look and the finished production. It resparked a long-ago, yet not ever forgotten interest in Kabuki. How does one say "Encore!" in Japanese? BTW, this is not exactly Grandfather-san's Kabuki. Unexpected touches here and there, we're and "fresh" and weirdly funny. The storyline and performances gave it that classic bearing that keeps Kabuki going.

I was in January in Tokyo and attended two perfomances of Kabuki at the New National Theatre. I could never imagine what UNIQUE, INCREDIBLE and WONDERFUL actors they are. All of the cast are outstanding but in my life I will never forget Nakamura Baishi IV playing tha lady-fox. No words to describe his tenderness when writing the farewell poem; the moment when realizes she must leave her son and husband, telling her feelings with such a few movements; and the final scene... SUPERB! Thanks for sharing your culture and your art. Best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Brother, this is a golden chance for Kikunosuke V and Baishi IV to prove that they are worthy of inheriting the names Onoe Kikugorō VII and Nakamura Tokizō VI respectively. Here, I have a question that intrigues me to this day: you've heard of the 1957 film "Sayonara" (the one starring Marlon Brando), right? There is a character called Nakamura (played by the late Ricardo Montalbán) who is revealed to be a famous Kabuki actor. This character (Nakamura) is shown playing two important Kabuki roles: the aragoto role of Oshimodoshi (Narukami/Musume Dōjō-ji) and the onnagata role of Yayoi (Kagami Jishi). My question is: which Kabuki actor could have served as the basis for Nakamura? Because I saw some internet users say that it was Nakamura Kanzaburō XVII, others say that it was Ichikawa Danjūrō XI and others say that it is a mix of both (because of the roles of Oshimodoshi and Yayoi). After all, is Nakamura based on a real Kabuki actor or not?

My impression is that they were going for a mix of Utaemon VI and Danjūrō XI, the two most famous actors at the time, but I haven't looked into it.
