These pressure points actually do work. The pressure points will really help you especially if you’re going up against someone who’s bigger than you.

To sum it up in a sentence, Azu is showing how to administer a traditional (although perhaps misnamed) "judo chop" (to the side of the neck). One of the oldest fighting techniques shown in the movies, T.V., and even in cartoons. Usually too when it's administered it seems to be done so in "backhand" fashion .. probably to give the blow greater strength. I have seen in other styles (e.g. karate) where they warn you that if you administer the blow with the edge of the hand to slightly cup your hand/fingers. Otherwise, you risk possibly some finger and/or hand bone fractures. KEEP ON GROWING, AIKIDOFLOWERS!

Absolutely, a friend of mine was taught a specific technique in a Krav Maga class where the pressure point or rather the actual VC Carotid Artery was squeezed to temporarily stop blood supply and knock out the opponent, similar effect in the end I guess but causing a major blood vessel to stop working, even for a few seconds is different from the nervous system reaction but triggering a pressure point. My concern is (after having a life altering CA injury) that it's a very dangerous area to target and then saying Aikiidofoiw taught me that, isn't good for anyone. Any Martial Art is going to be dangerous, that's the point but we as students and teachers should be aware of the consequences bin using certain techniques. At least say something like ' only use this invdefence if you feel your life is in danger! Don't very this in training ' talking from experience a CA injury might not cause instant paralysis but the effect could come hours later. I damaged my CA during va warm up for a Squash match, I didn't feel anything at the time, I played 4 sets if Squash, had a drink and a chat, drive 10 minutes home, 36 hours later I was in the back of an Ambulance being rushed to a stroke ward where I almost died! If someone takes a strike to the neck in training it may or may not put them down straight away, it probably will if the pressure point bis activated, however it could be several hours later before the severity of the injury is evident. Be careful out there, people. Look after your training partners.

@@carlsocci379 The version that Azu shows in the video seems to be delivered that way, but the "judo chop" in the movies and T.V. - seems to always be delivered with the ("knife") edge of the hand.

@@attygarland6909 So then it should be delivered with the side of the arm. Thank you for your help.

I love you channel and I live Aikido but I'm surprised you showed this Pressure Point strike without issuing a disclaimer. I damaged my Carotid Artery which caused a stroke. Prior to this I never knew how fragile this blood vessel can be and how it can cause so many issues. I survived but I was lucky. A strike to the neck like the one you demonstrated will indeed caused anyone to have second thoughts on attacking you but in the process you could cause serious harm including disability or worse. As you say hopefully we will never have to use this strike but if someone does they should be mindful of the potential consequences.

I agree, this is a very dangerous move. Even in a "street fight" you don't necessarily want to be paralysing your attacker. If they have a knife or clearly mean to cause you deadly harm then, of course, do whatever you can. But it's important to understand the risks of these attacks to know when to use them.

Nice suggestion. I don't mean to brag, but someone once tried that one on me (to both sides of the neck) back when I was a bodybuilder in college and it didn't work. He had provoked me into lifting him off the ground in a bear hug and then pinning him on the floor. Perhaps he lacked success because he not only didn't perform the attack correctly, but my neck was one of the thickest muscle groups of my body at the time.
