Walt Levinsky composed for Score Productions, a well-known production company specializing in TV music. Levinsky is credited on a 1972-1976 album of music cues for The Price is Right, which includes much of the show's music that is still heard today such as the showcase showdown and various car cues.

If I remember correctly, that unusual sound in this version of the theme is the use of a Moog synthesizer from Edd Kalehoff. He worked on the film "Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker" (great title, ehh). The film is lost at the moment but you can find copies of the trailer on compilation tapes. The music in the film sounds just like a TPIR or Match Game theme.

Here’s another good idea for a showcase. Note, this one should be very special, cause it’s huge, maybe once price calculates 100 years in total (from the NBC days to it’s current CBS days,) and hopefully the market could cooperate. The showcase I had in mind is a showcase of prizes spanning Price is right’s history, from its early years, to current incarnation. For example, for the early years (50’s and 60’s,) was thinking maybe a house, then for current prize, maybe stuff to go inside the house, like a TV, bedroom set and kitchen, maybe a sailboat in place of a yot, then maybe a high end car to end with.

@blind_t28 жыл бұрын
I thought that would be amazing for the 70's show at least for the 2 other come on downs, and the first 3 contestants on stage (first half,) the second half could've used the 1976-1979 come on down cue for the final 3 called/on stage. However we both can agree that it was nice to have them finally get their heads out of their butts and bring the cues back if only for a week.

+christopher coleman the horn version was the one used as a "come on down" cue, and winner cue (contestant goes on stage to play a pricing game.) this however was used as a showcase cue. the horn version was used from the show's debut until 1976. I'd say this cue, the showcase cue was used until about early to mid 2000.
