I hate that about the price is right. I know there’s no practical way to stop contestants from bidding as low as they want, but it’s completely against the spirit of the game. At least try, it’s the least you should do. My idea is, if you bid under $100 (pretty obvious), instant disqualification. If you bid under $10,000 (less obvious, but the showcase is never lower than $20,000) the other contestant gets the cash value of their showcase as compensation.

I learned one thing in my military career and that is you can never make assumptions about anyone’s level of knowledge, even what some might deem just common sense. I think he tanked it. If I was in the service, all of that would have been pretty worthless to me, especially considering I would have to pay taxes on it before even taking possession of it. How many low end military folks you know have $9k in their bank account? Sure, he could try and resell everything, but that takes time and who knows when he'd have to deploy back to see, thus everything being stuck in a storage facility which costs money. If his family/friends aren't in CA, he would have to ship it to them which costs money. But the first hurdle is coming up with the cash.
