This is an in-depth breakdown of all three versions of the Kom'rk-class Fighter-Transport, aka the Mandalorian Gauntlet, which was recently seen in Season 3 of The Mandalorian.

The type 3 looks badass honestly, it literally has the same type of uses as the milenium falcon

type 3 for me, more the size of a fighter, small and swift. still has the drop trooper and longer range. easier to hit and land in tight spots is the big adv it have over the others, i could see a type 1 and type 3 being used in the same fleet for different roles

woow. i just bought a miniature/toy and had no idea it was a type3, i thought there was only 1 type never noticed the difrences

Refit a Type 2, with living quarters, and a small cargo bay, and I'm there. Throw in a carbonite freezing device. and it would also be a good Razor Crest replacement for Din Jaron and Din Grogu

That sounds like a great setup for them! I liked the N1, but since the Dins are going back to bounty hunting, they will need a proper transport. I suppose they could be simple assassination jobs, but I would think the New Republic would want the Imperial warlords alive to stand trial. Maybe Bo-Katan will gift them an unpainted Gauntlet to match his other ships!

@@RadioFreeCoruscant The N1 is an excellent star fighter, and space sports classic, but not so much for bounty hunting. What's he going to say, "I can bring you in warm, or I can shove you in the glove box"? Plus those forges on Mandalore looked big enough to churn out capital ships

In case you still don't get the scale of this thing from this video, I looked it up. The Type 1 is smaller than a Boeing 747 but bigger than the Spruce Goose. The Type 2 is four meters (13 feet) longer than a B-52 Bomber. The Type 3 is about the same size as a C-130 cargo plane. The only height listed on Wookieepedia is 13.23 meters or a bit over 43 feet or as tall as a Brachiosaurus. A) You would never need anything bigger than a Type 2 if it is just you B) They all should have been able to carry more than 10 to 24 passengers C) These things definitely had at least one bathroom. And not just a powder room. Showers, plural.

Excellent size comparisons! I actually had the good fortune to see an AC-130 on display at an air show recently so that helps to visualize the size of the small model.

Nice breakdown! This is definitely a cool class of ship. One suggestion though to improve your videos would be to speak louder. Watching on my laptop I struggled to hear you at times.

We do see the wings on the type 3 rotate round the cockpit during the canyon scene

Would love for you to cover the unsung warband of alpha legionnaires who made off with a saint after Saint Celestine was I suppose directed by the emperor to send the saint off with them while she and the sisters of battle(can’t remember which’s sisters) held off Kharn world eaters. Such an amazing book and easily one of my favorites but I really like renegade space marines that aren’t chaos slaves as well

1:19 you are getting the Kom'rk-class fighter/transport mixed up with the Fang-class fighter. The Fang fighter is much smaller and the Gauntlet does not have the fully rotating s-foil wings of the Fang.

Yes, the Fang fighter is smaller than the Komrk fighter; but both can fully rotate their wings. Have you not watched the Clone Wars?

3:09 I think that the rotating s-foil must be an inconsistency in canon. I saw the footage in your video, but what purpose does the rotating s-foil wing have in the Gauntlet, there are no cannons on the wing like there are on the Fang-class. (The edit: Ok so you cover the inconsistencies. I also love the Type 3 the best also. It makes the most sense for an ultra-elite super commando race like the Mandalorians, to have several similar ships so that enemies would get them mixed up and not be sure of the exact craft and complement they’re dealing with).

The purpose is actually maneuverability, in atmosphere. Better aim when shooting, as well, if you yourself are not rotating as you fly, and just the wings. In atmo, if the wings are rotating, it allows the turn, while you stay flat. At least, that's partly the logic I use in my head, personally. As well as, allows avoidance of attacks on the engines, which are located on said wings, again, without having to shift your own position.
