Captain Tezuka never really got the chance to express his full strength because of his injury, and I always felt that he was the strongest middle schooler. It's great to see him now kick ass in the U17 World cup risk-free of injury.

Actually, it was very unrealistic starting from the match with Fudoumine. Burning holes in tennis rackets, blowing people into the stands, crazy spins, bullshit that is Tezuka Zone and Tezuka Phantom. Though I agree that it doesn't come close to burning tennis nets from friction, breaking windows and glass with air pressure, shaving away space to create black holes, and bringing down water tanks with tennis balls.

When tennis was not about sending people to hospitals or killing people. I still remember when Tezuka says that using tennis to hurt other people is unforgivable. Now Echizen changes his tennis style to killing style.

it was cause to show to the audience that they keep leveling up in their skills or you could say that they could become a master and becoming even more better than they used to be.Although all they're techniques are like i think for sure it was much great it feels like when you're watching a pro play for it but then in real those things don't just happen that's why they did they imaginary on how could this character become the best in the world not just in one country.

I really hate the change from normal Tennis to superpower tennis especially since the transition just felt so off... It didn't feel even a little grounded. Kuroko is a good example of superpower like sports done well. Prince of Tennis is an example of it done badly. Though, I still enjoyed it. The first arc was way better than the rest tho...

I grew up watching this anime on the tv, I was in 5th grade. I had the first episode of this anime downloaded on my iPod nano, and I would watch it during class breaks. I started playing tennis because of this anime and Roger Federer. I would have no one to play with so I would play against a wall everyday growing up. Now I am 23 and I play tennis everyday, I can finally afford to buy the rackets and shoes I wanted when I was little. I want to play tennis competitively at a very high level. I won't give up...

Although Prince of Tennis is pretty decent, I wouldn't rely on it to introduce people to tennis. It's somewhat reasonable in the beggining, but it slowly starts losing credibility. In the Nationals, they just went full DBZ, specially in semis and finals. And I'm not even taking into account New Prince of Tennis or the Movies. In the other hand, Baby Steps represents tennis at its core from the get-go. It just does a better job in every single aspect (except maybe flashiness and hype). In the way I see it, Prince of Tennis is definitely an enjoyable sports-anime, but it's too exaggerated to show people the true nature of the sport. What's your opinion?

I know you didn't ask me, but I've been watching baby steps, and I heard about another Tennis Anime, and after watching the first episode of The Prince of Tennis and reading some comments, I can conclude these two shows, though both about tennis, are basically opposites in every other way. Not saying one is better than the other, but that they both try to appeal to separate audiences. (it was very jarring to go from watching Baby steps with its down to earth style, to Prince of tennis, which is more for people who enjoy flashy hype filled "battles" as far as I can tell). So in conclusion I have to agree with you, though I personally like Baby Steps more because I tend to hate (mainly in sports or Yu-gi-oh/pokemon type (I don't know the actual name) Anime when the main character starts out overpowered (that's why I don't like Yu-Gi-oh) because you don't get to watch the character grow, I can understand why people would prefer it over Baby steps.
