Two things I love about this episode 1) I absolutely LOVE watching people nerd out over stuff they probably know too much about 2) YOUR CREATIONS! Not sure how often or how much you try to come up with variant drinks, but I like it! 3) Because I can't count, your slow-mo jigger pour shots are incredibly satisfying, just throwing that out there

Reading the Wikipedia article on it is actually pretty interesting! "The recipe is a closely guarded trade secret, purportedly known to only three people at any given time.[3] So many people have tried to reproduce it that the company maintains on its grounds in Fécamp a "Hall of Counterfeits" (Salle des Contrefaçons). The bottle and label have been imitated, as has the name Bénédictine. The company prosecutes those it feels are infringing on its intellectual property. The manufacturing process involves several distillations which are then blended. The recipe of Bénédictine is a commercial secret, but it is known to contain 27 herbs and spices, of which the following 21 are publicly known:[citation needed] Angelica, hyssop, juniper, myrrh, saffron, mace, fir cones, aloe, arnica, lemon balm, tea, thyme, coriander, clove, lemon, vanilla, orange peel, honey, red berries, cinnamon, and nutmeg; leaving six unknown ingredients."

Wow, I'm not even a coffee fan and this looks DELICIOUS!!! I wonder if there is a variant that might play more with the chocolate and orange flavors. So first I kept meaning to make this drink since the vid came out and I can say I love this drink it was fantastic. Second I went to make this having watched the episode multiple times in the past so went straight to the specs in the notes. Half way through I stopped and realized they are different than in the episode. So I made this with .5 Amaretto .5 Benedictine 1oz Bourbon (I used a Local made favorite of mine Ironweed Bourbon from Albany Distilling Company) 1oz of Pierre Ferrand Cognac 2.5 oz iced French pressed coffee and 1 egg white. It came out clearly boozier but sooooo good. Thank you for this drink!

Just a couple thoughts. I believe you are referring to Murray Stenson in Seattle, the guy is a legend, and an amazing dude that repopularized The Last Word cocktail and helped fuel our modern day cocktail renaissance. I’d want to give him proper credit. Also, Dave Arnold’s technique of using one large cube with several small cubes is essentially to provide the texture, temperature, and dilution you want without a dry shake, but if you are going that route I’d highly recommend the reverse dry shake. Shake your all cocktails ingredients first with ice to chill and dilute, strain back into your tins and dry shake, you’ll get a way better result than a traditional dry shake where the ice essentially breaks down all the froth and texture you just worked so hard to create. It’ll also continue to create a solid seal between your tins as the ingredients are already chilled keeping the tins contracted onto one another. That being said, I love the channel and keep it up man, you’re doing great with it and I love seeing you’re back to producing content. Cheers!
