He’s one of the most interesting villains to me because he’s pretty much a little man who can wield a lot of power; more than even he can really handle. While he’s trying to puppeteer others, he’s desperately trying to free himself from the debts that control him. That dynamic is one you don’t see explored often, and definitely not in Disney films, and Kieth David’s performance SERIOUSLY sells everything this character is supposed to represent.

Yeah, she was pinned. That meant even after grabbing the pendant, she should have been incapable of moving, let alone breaking it. Edit: Unless he let go of the cane because he was surprised by the pendant being grabbed. In which case, the cane wouldn't be in the shot, it would have vanished since he needs the power of the loa- His "friends from the other side" to conjure up the cane in the first place. this movie felt like watching the classics again in modern times (for 2008) a movie that had no problem being cheerful as any Disney movie, but wasn't afraid of being also dark or even slightly gruesome, and Facilier, as always, the villain being the best part of the movie (well except Bellweather froom Zootopia, she was a little "meh" of a villain at least to me) had definitely the classic Disney villain treatment, and even some Scar from The Lion King vibes, someone manipulative, calm and charismathic, who at the end actually had a similar destiny, being taken down by his so-called "friends"

Something I realized: when "Friends on the other side" is playing for the first time with Dr. Facilier turning Naveen into a frog, the background chant is barely noticeable with a smooth jazz overshadowing it, kinda like the chant is behind the song. It represents Facilier's charismatic and off putting personaility but in reality is running from death every day When Facilier is about to "die", the chant is the loudest part and the instruments for the jazz tune are incredibly loud, like his "friends" caught up in the chase and Facilier is panicking for survival

His demise is I swear the one of the most terrifying for a Disney villain. I mean this guy had it all for the perfect Disney villain: charisma, charm, an almost psychotic amount of ambition, a slightly relatable motive (him being jealous and resentful of the rich while being poor himself), with the added additions of an amazing villain song and powers. I mean his charisma and manipulative charm makes him come off as someone you could encounter in real life. His demise is so terrifying as he was literally dragged to hell kicking, screaming, and begging
