Haile Selassie was not a born again Christian he was part of the orthodox church. Now as for Rastafari we do not have to be the same churchical order as the Emperor. We have our own traditions and belief system born from our struggle.

@shirlspark_stardust; Show me one single proof that the Jesus mentioned in the New Testament Ever existed outside of the Christian Bible ? you would think that a cult leader who was the Bob Marley of his era, Who according to Matthew 4 : 24--25, who's fame went throughout the entire region, who drew crowds, and inspired his devoted followers and was executed on the orders of a Roman governor, Such a person if he indeed existed would leave some indentation in the Contemporary historical records, The Gospels makes it clear that throughout his career Jesus was the rock star of first-century Judea, We are told that he went throughout the region performing miracles, healing the sick and casting out demons, and that he and his entourage were followed by great multitudes of people ? So, Why don't we know the Actual date that Jesus was born, Or the actual date ( or the year ) that he allegedly died ? if he was a real person, walking on earth as we're led to believe, Why is there no historical records of him ? Do some research And tell me if you can find him in the historical records ?

I feel like people confused Rastafari culture as a specifically dark brown religion/culture, baby. We are all different shades of brown. We are all different levels of melanin when we can all come together and recognize the fact that we are all the way from beige to dark chocolate brown then we can get along baby. I do see the Biblical Hebraic roots of rastafarism. More specifically I see the rules of the Nazirite vow followed by many who claim rastafarism (old school rastas). Like many things of this world, I believe the root of all beliefs stem back to the Bible. Man has taken it upon themselves to alter the Word of Elohim by adding or taking away what they want, thus creating numerous different beliefs, religions and ideologies etc. and these things then make an “appearance” of truth, when in fact there is only One True and undefiled Way of Life (John 14:6, Matthew 7:14, Acts 24:14). Priest Tafari (respectfully High Priest is for our High Priest the Messiah), brought up some great points about the deception many people use by forcing selassie as the Messiah. And Great Owl made a great point that if selassie is someone’s king and “god” that they should be following the laws/commandments of his, but many don’t. The only High Priest and King we should be following is the one who came in The Father’s name, Yahusha.

So if rastafari roots is in Garvey (who believed and followed God and The Bible) then the foundation/roots of rastafari are God and The Bible. Haile Selassie also believed in the Bible, Jesus Christ, Christianity. So if you’re following him as Messiah he’s teachings point to the Bible. He also seemingly denied his position as Messiah in an interview. The problem is man can’t choose, it is up to The Most High Creator to appoint and anoint people in positions. Rastafari is not the root, it’s a branch of the Bible just like many other man made religions. It wasn’t around during the beginning of the earth and is less than 100 years old.
