Michiel vd Vlies the difference is Rasta is an individualized faith, not a club, not a religion... That’s why it’s striving among plenty. It has lifted the concept of spirituality and faith and that’s why it seems strange to so many. That’s how I see it, that’s my Rasta.

This was the most beautiful speech I ever heard on TEDx Talks, maybe ever in life because it resonated with my journey to Rastafari; a lot of similarities. Almost brought tears to my eyes due to the similarities of our journey. I've been on this path now for 35 years with no regrets, and I wouldn't change a thing. I loved how you said towards the end, with emphasis, "And a Rasta." You touched my soul and I give thanks. Jah Love, Bongo Najja Foluke

As you rightfully said your transition was a shock to the public. Listening to your message made me incredibly proud to be Antiguan! Your lead by example is nothing short of brave and courageous. Hardly anyone I know would have the strength it takes to step out of the socially conditioned roles laid out for us by our society. I salute you for staying true to what you believe in despite social pressures. Its the most courageous road a human being can take! Your path is a great inspiration! Believe that! Stay true to you!

I am a Muslim and I have great respect for the sincere Rasta man and woman. I feel very close to the livity and spiritual insight of sincere Rasta, and indeed some of my Rasta brother are among the people I feel spiritually closer to and among my best friends. There's a lot of wolves out there and hypocrites who use Rastafari for personal advantages (like in every group of people), but when one get a chance to link up with the real ones, like surely this sister is, they are among the best people who trod this earth. Peace and blessings!

I was part of the Rastafari space for some time, and still interact with some. There are those who are for self-service, there are those who are there because of Marcus Garvey teachings, there are those who opted for it because of its naturalist approach to life and those who were brainwashed but very few are there because of H.I.M Haile Selassie's teachings. H.I.M's teachings are liberating and wise and helped me grow into my own person and still participate as a member of the community. Rastafari can liberate you or break you depending on where and who you are getting your education from.

A great glimpse of a personal journey to rasta! As a rasta myself (without dreadlocks), some camps would see this as non -compliant etc. For new age thinkers who might be clueless about Rastafari, is the journey of one man who in the face of much trials and adversity came to be (quite paradoxically) just as his titles implied 'The Conquering Lion'. More paradoxically, he became the world's most decorated statesman in human history (ref: Ethiopia Shall Stretch Forth Her Hands Unto God - Gregory Copley); mystifyingly left the Vercais Peace conference (1918 approx) in Paris keeping Ethiopia independent amidst the ownership wranglings of the Europeans. Rev.19: And when they saw Him who sat upon the throne they hid their faces and fled and there was no place found for them. He cannot tell us that He is God. We are "all"(every nation) expected to recognize Him. We must judge everything upon its own merits. Only He (Qedamawi Haile Selassie 1) satisfies everything that can be said of a righteous God, irrespective of religion. This is evidence of the only " true and living God"....Extol Him who rides upon the heavens by His name JAH (Psalms 68: 4). Peace.

What a testimony Empress Kai! You are the living example of a person being truly ‘born again, for it is written: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a person be born again, he or she cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can people be born when they are old? can they enter the second time into their mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a person be born of water and of the Spirit, he or she cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:3-8). Sending JAH love and light your way Empress Kai . . . HOLDING THE VISION 💚💛❤️ UNTIL THAT DAY!

An eloquent passionate talk from a lovely lady. Kai has gone through an awakening in her life. Such that she can express her faith with a powerful integrity. I'm glad she mentioned Rasta persecution. The artist Fred Locks also relates an atrocious assaults by the Jamaican Authorities. To their ignorance and misguidance, Fred Locks recounts a violent attack by the police force on Rasta. It's intetesting how an island steeped in the cultural use of a righteous herb can as at that recent time still harbour such inclination towards a peaceful community. Conservative outlooks always hides a violent inclination against the peaceful. But that's an other story. God help us we need it!!
