The thing with Games vs Movies. Games can actively and clearly iterate on their core premise and ideas and be better. Because they are driven by game design and control. Where as movies are plot driven and you can't just say for movies. Same but more. But with videogames, people EXPLICITLY want, same but more. If we love the franchise enough, we'd like to see the story continued when they can upgrade those things. With movies, I believe it's the same. When a good story is told, you want to see more. I agree 100%, it’s no wonder Nintendo didn’t even need to make a new console to turn a profit considering on the switch they have made or remade games for Mario and his spin offs, Kirby, Zelda, Donkey Kong, the entire cast of Smash Bros, Miitopia, Yoshi, Wario Ware, Splatoon, Metroid, and if you count Switch online you also can still have access to games from Mother, F-Zero, and of course on both Fire Emblem. So PlayStation/Sony has no excuse considering their more advanced console hasn’t even used 2/5th of its exclusive or notable IPs recently, which is exactly why no one has been popping but Nintendo in the console market, well besides Oculus Quest with Arkham shadow and cheaper versions coming out.

So there's an Audience for it but more than anything it's up to Sony for them to Green light it.

If they wanted to bring Cole back, I'm sure they could spin a story that makes sense. Like him being in a state of hibernation, slowly recharging or something.

Yeah absolutely. And a lot of the devs of those franchises have expressed no interest in returning to those franchises. Naughty Dog thought about Jak 4, Sucker Punch has said they don't have plans for Infamous/Sly, etc. Gamers really have a hard time letting things end.

I would say that in case of THE VIDEO, is actually pretty easy to balance. Just don't characters of old games as cameos in new games if you don't plan on making nothing new of their franchise. Is just teasing the fans over nothing.

idk man, a game specifically designed to take advantage of every feature the controller has (in contrast to nintendo, although they tried) while putting more love and care into a game via polish and small details (the fucking snow is in playstation shapes, same with rain splashes, etc.) than Nintendo has put into any of their franchises in a while gives it the edge over mario for me, Nintendo has been at a point recently where remakes and spin offs, or slight changes are their new products, especially seen with pokemon, and people are really getting fed up with it

@@titan1umtitan I just find Mario Odyssey to be the better game as that is what is immediately comparable. Though Mario Wonder is very great as well and is very different from any Mario game before it. (Though not comparable to Astrobot.) But I definitely agree that Pokemon hasn't been good since X and Y, they should be ashamed of the diamond and pearl remakes. Astrobot was good but I found myself wanting to go back and play Mario Odyssey Balloon Hide and Seek every now and then. I also think the reliance on references kind of hurt my opinion on Astrobot as while Nintendo sits on a lot of dormant IPs at least they aren't as bad as Sony...
