I still think it’s kinda dumb his machete, axe and bed all have hurt boxes on them. Makes things a lot less consistent on the character and his hitboxes less desirable than most for being a heavy sword character

I don't get why the hitbox isn't on the mist exit instead. It'd make more sense as an actual attacking move and also work much better with his gameplan, making it actually generally useful for getting people playing lame far away from him. Then again he's an ultra-heavyweight in a (platform) fighting game trying to be competitive, him being bad is the intended design philosophy.

Having a hitbox on it makes it a free kill confirm and edge guard setup, but I agree it should have some sort of protection when he leaves. It could get a hitbox, armor Anything really.

I think its because in general gameplay it's hard to judge where he's going to pop out, so it's difficult to weaponize that, and then in pvp they gave you the "behind you" perk which makes it way too effective

There seems to be a small yellow particle effect on his body when he enters the mist that I guess is meant to be your indicator? It’s not present when he walks out, so I suppose It might be like the Lucario Extreme Speed particle effect where it’s a blink and you’ll miss it.

I ran into this weird glitch where my character’s model got stuck INSIDE Jason’s model. He was still able to damage me, but I couldn’t move and he couldn’t knock me away. When he tried to SD, the glitch did not wear off. Across two matches, he was forced to throw me free wins because I was leading both times. Oh, but that’s not the worst part. The worst part was that I was getting mad at people for trashing on Velma, so I started to play her out of spite and was actually doing a good job and having fun. Thus, I was furious about the glitch because I was cheated out of two honest wins.

I like the idea of him doing some kind of spin slash as he fades into the fog and is winding down after he leaves, so the damaging part of his attack is over when he leaves. That would fix the problem, I think.

the reason the start hits is he shoulder checks you. when he steps back in, its just him appearing. but it deff feels odd to not do dmg when appearing.

It’s because he uses his shoulder to hit as you can see him turn and he hits them but when he walks out, he’s just walking out and then he turns without any force to see what he is looking at. So the answer to your question, what has a hit box is because of his shoulder

Let's say theres a hypothetic train that moves at slow walking speed, and it fits perfectly into a tunnel, theres not enought space between the tunel and the train to even fit a coin, also the front of the train is perfectly flat, and it will just, push you. Now, imagine the there's two people in said tunnel, one at the beigining, and one at the end, both of them have half their body in the trayectory of the train, and the other half out. What body will be ripped in two, the one at the beigining? Or the one at the end?

It's like people don't even play the game. The move is only used as a recovery and a combo filler/kill move. You are not meant to do it RAW, hence it doesn't require a good hitbox indication, since you will mostly use it in jab jab teleport. It also doesn't make sense for the end of the teleport to have a hit box since then his recovery is THE safest in the game. Even morty that has a similar recovery tool.

I'm going to argue that this is a balance thing. The initial hit does a lot of damage (as is consistent with his kit), but at low percentage, it would be extremely easy to combo into both the initial and exit hit, making him overpowered. I understand your issues with the move itself though. It would make more sense for it to be more of a command grab where he brings you into the pocket dimension and throws you after leaving

That's funny talking about balance in this game at all, especially regarding Jason. The most powerful attacks mean nothing when Amy character cam counter them all by using any of their own attacks. Jason's doesn't need an extended box to nerf him, he needs a sma buff in manuverability I love the idea with the portal taking your enemy and spitting them put tho that's dope

It's annoying how sometimes he'll just stand there after coming out of it sometimes, for a while I thought it was a punishment for spamming it, but then one match it happened the first time I used it, I wasn't even transitioning into a special, he just waited to get hit, like what's the point of a move that lets them hit you? Also platforms, I fucking hate the platforms, miststep is supposed to a. Launch him forwards, or b. Place him behind the oponent, I should not be getting stuck on the godforbidden platforms when I used. Also, also, where is the Invulnerability window, I've been full tilt and got knocked out of it, hits should only happen when the mist appears and when Jason turns to the side, his back being turned is the damage window! Why would you be able to hit hom in the dame window! He's do slow charging up his speacils snd even his regular attacks, setting his back turned to being Invulnerabile wouldn't make him broken.

I think the difference here is that Sheik's Vanish is an obvious explosion, followed by the character reappearing in a small puff of smoke. The explosion clearly looks, like it should hurt, and the smoke not so much. I'd say the move's function is clearly communicated by that animation. The problem MockRock is trying to get at isn't the function of the move, but the form. Jason slowly disappearing into fog and slowly reappearing out of fog has no discernible difference, so the fact that the first part has a hit and the second doesn't is confusing. I'll give you Zelda's though, that move looks like it should probably have a hitbox on the end of it. That said, in Melee, Zelda disappearing has a very colorful and prominent particle effect, and her reappearing is again, a tiny puff of smoke. There is a visual language on these teleports, where flashy particle effect = damage, puff of smoke = no damage.
