Here's the full LMG FAQ that they sent us: Q: Was the Billet Labs prototype “stolen”? A: Billet Labs agreed to send us a prototype after we expressed interest in covering the product. Billet Labs agreed to send us the product and said we could keep the prototype instead of returning the product. However, after the release of the video Billet Labs then offered the opportunity to cover a follow up 4090 waterblock, for a future video. Then about 4 days later they requested the return of the block. LMG agreed to return it along with the 3090 Ti. Q: Why was there a delay in the return of Billet Labs property? A: The writer of the project handed off the return to another department, but communication was missed. The writer then went on vacation for 2 weeks, returning just before LTX. During this time there was no communication sent from either Billet Labs or LMG. After LTX, upon return to office, the writer followed up with Billet Labs to make sure that they had been sent their property. It was Q: Why was the prototype block sold? A: The block was added to a list of products available in a charity auction that was being held at LTX 2023, the company’s fan expo. The goal was to provide unique and rare items for community members to purchase. The prototype ended up being selected, as our internal systems had the item listed as company property, rather than as a return. This was due to a communication error between Billet Labs, the writer of the video, and the procurement team at LMG. The block never should have been part of the auction. (adam) Q: What are your thoughts on members of the community feeling this initial controversy wasn’t taken seriously due to jokes about store plugs, kicks to sponsores, and the video addressing the situation being monetized? We're LMG. Even when our content is serious, we have elements of fun in it. This has always been our style and we wanted to send a message to our community that just because the suits are talking about workflows and processes, the fun isn't going away. Jokes aside - we have a decade-long unbroken streak of daily videos. To pull back this dramatically I think shows how seriously we're taking community's feedback. We didn't include a sponsor for the video and we heard the feedback from our community and from our team internally and we turned off Adsense monetization for this video. Q: What is your response to the allegations levied by former employee Madison Reeve and will there be any action taken? We are taking the allegations very seriously. Immediately, our HR team will be conducting a thorough assessment of the allegations. We've already begun combing our personnel files and past notes and correspondences to see if we can corroborate any of what's being said. Furthermore, we will also be hiring an outside investigator to look into the allegations and will commit to publishing the findings and implementing any corrective actions that may arise because of this. When we are ready, we will release a statement. For now, we would ask that we allow our team the time they need be as thorough as possible. As this will take some time and due to our employee confidentiality responsibilities we may not be able to provide a comprehensive statement until we've completed our investigation. We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. In addition to our existing report systems (both anonymous and otherwise) we've proactively reached out internally today to encourage members of our team to report any workplace bullying or harassment they might be experiencing so we can take quick and decisive action. We are halting video production and will be reducing our video output in the coming weeks as we strive to provide improvements to processes and work-life balance for our employees.

To me it's startup syndrome, they grew from a few guys with a passion into a 130 person company in a few years and their processes, communication, internal culture and expectations didn't scale with it. So you have the internal culture of the guys who have been there for years and think it's normal to stay up all night crunching and making stupid frat bro jokes at eachother and treating it like a friend group, who also end up as the management, and you have the people they hire who want a professional work environment and deserve one, and are just employees and shouldn't have those early days expectations on them. Being picky about the details, because folks who don't know can draw dangerous conclusions from simplifications. Glucagon is a hormone that causes your liver to produce sugar. It is normally produced by the body and is one of the reasons humans can fast without their brain shutting down. Injectable glucagon can be ineffective if you've been drinking because the liver is busy clearing out the alcohol and doesn't switch to gluconeogenesis. (This is one reason we can experience dangerous lows while drinking because this happens with our naturally produced glucagon too.) It can also be ineffective on people who are fasting, on ketogenic diets, experience long episodes of hypoglycemia, or just have a huge dose of insulin on board. D-50 is a better comparison to sugar directly to the bloodstream, which will raise sugar levels regardless of surrounding circumstances.@@Cavemanner

Just a quick correction, in British Columbia we have recently passed provincial laws (Pay Transparency Act of BC,2023) that allow and protect workers to discuss their pay among employees and employers and that employers cannot fire or reprimand an employee for talking about pay with anyone within the company. Love from British Columbia :)

There's a clause in my union contract that I'm forbidden to go on strike. Also when the contract needs to renew if no employees speak up then it will just auto renew. There is never any talk from the employer and union that its coming. Also it's a 6 year long contract.
@seanscott9300 Жыл бұрын
The clause you are referring to is called a “No-Strike Clause” and is common through the US and Canada, so your experience is common throughout North America (even tho it’s still messed up). Auto renewal contracts are also legal and common in Canada, however have been limited by how and where they take place by the courts, and give the employee various abilities to opt out before the contract renews. However if the time given to cancel the new contract expires, then you are agreeing to a new contract, and are in agreement as if it was any other contract. Auto renew was meant to eliminate the down time it takes to create a new contract each time (in spite of this I guess certain employers can use this to manipulate their workers). Despite all of this tho it is the law as I said above no employer can demand a worker not talk about the pay- that would be illegal.

If she decides to accept the new contract, with deferent requirements, then LMG is not at fault regarding what her duties are as stipulated by the new contract. (Lawyer girlfriend). It is a sticky situation as privacy must be maintained for all parties involved. I am not sure Madison, made any formal complaints about anything. (which does not mean it did not happen - it just means that it is less scrutinized) Madison would have done well to file those complaints and not just suck it up IF she felt that strongly that she was sexually harassed. I get that women (young women in particular) find it difficult to come forward in a direct and meaningful way at the time it happens and only after reflection and it eating at them do they come to terms to what happened and then get mad about it lol. Which is all perfectly normal. Now she needs to either file the complaints or let it live in the past. The choice is hers to make. The was a few years ago now.. She only felt comfortable speaking upfront about it due to the fact that LTT having been hit so hard with all this that the fans might not come after her for now speaking up. If the family says that using it helps Cooper resemble their father closer then there shouldn’t be an issue. It didn’t look too large or out of place on Cooper either. I didn’t realize that the first picture shown was the one with the prosthetic until they showed the one of Cooper without it. It’s only slightly larger than his own nose and he could probably do just fine without it, but if the family is happy with the resemblance and portrayal then so am I. I’m just glad that they’re so involved in the process and that they believe Cooper is doing justice to their father’s story because that’s what really matters in my opinion.

Yes, if anyone has been following that section of KZbin, you can clearly see how things are. LMG is the content mill making half hearted videos "for the algorithm", and they decided that they wanted to throw shade at HUB and GN. If you want to pick a fight with GN, you had better make sure all of your i's are dotted and t's are crossed, as they have shown over the years, the extent that they go to, in order to make clear that they have the viewers and customers interests first and foremost. For them, it's not about getting content out there to feed the algorithm, they aim to get it right so they can grow organically using consumer trust. It's the Quality over Quantity argument, which shows in the way they have expanded over the years.

That was impressive to fit as much as you could into the LTT scandal. Being a long time fan of the show and people, it hurts a lot and a feeling of betrayal because we put our trust in them but the data was wrong. The biggest issue though is the Billet Labs, which was disgusting how they treated them and now the Madison accusations are damning.

Hey Phil! British Columbia actually just passed a new Salary Transparency Act. As of May 31, 2023, employees cannot be disciplined for sharing their pay with a coworker or prospective new employer. As well as a few other things to help encourage fair and competitive wages. Lots of love from BC! 🤙

As far as the Jackson thing is concerned, putting a gumball into the mouth of someone who is seizing is not the correct path. It would have been tough, but waiting for EMS to arrive would have almost certainly been the least harmful action in that situation...but man it can be hard to *not* try to help :(
@gudkush420 Жыл бұрын
Idk how someone who claims to be an ER doctor wouldnt know how dangerous it could be to shove something in a seizure victims mouth. Its just plain creepy how he saw a girl having a seizure and immediately thought "lemme stick my fingers in her mouth to give her a gumball"
@eikonise Жыл бұрын
It seems pretty clear that she was not seizing at the time, but had been (possibly) seizing earlier. It's possible that she was in a post-ictal state which would look a lot like severe hypoglycemia (a legitimate emergency). Just common sense it out.

@@eikoniseit sounds like she was definitely altered no matter what was going on, and putting anything in her mouth is a bad idea, especially a gumball

It's tough because he isn't currently a ER doctor so that opens a whole can of worms regarding what is current policy, does he know current policy, is he following current policy, is he being truthful of his qualifications from a police officer's perspective of seeing him on scene initially, etc. Having somebody there trying to help is arguably better than nothing don't get me wrong. I'm just saying hypothetically with ANY person trying to help, there are some safety/liability issues which definitely aren't on the books and is judgement based especially when somebody's life is at risk specifically from an officer who just arrived. Only the people there know what happened and it's a tough thing to judge objectively in the heat of the moment from all parties there bystander or police. But with the aggressive history of police, I can't say I'm surprised that pushback led to him being thrown to the ground despite being vulgar. It's not like the guy was hurting the person and there's no easy way to explain medical terms to a cop when both sides are coming from totally different mentalities. The whole situation sucks
@mejuliie Жыл бұрын
He could have helped, if he wanted. By staying there until EMS arrived, conveying what he observed, and then leaving. Furthermore, he can't just enter the situation claiming to be a doctor and expect everyone to believe him. It is an event where plenty of alcohol is being consumed and probably a bunch of other substances as well (not saying he was intoxicated!). It is only reasonable in that situation to want to wait for EMS to arrive, instead of listening to a complete stranger. Also, telling him to back off is not only important to protect the patient, and let EMS do their work, but also to protect him in case something goes wrong, so he isn't held liable for the situation. This just reeks of entitlement. There is no talk about the patient's actual well-being, but only about how the police told a "famous" person to back off and said person having their ego hurt. If he truly was only there to help, he would have just backed off as soon as EMS arrived.

To add onto the LMG sexual harrasement claims. A leaked audio clip was released by a former employee, and was posted to the LTT subreddit. Madison, had left the company on December 9th, 2021. LMG had a "emergency sexual harrassment meeting" on December 10th, 2021. 1 day after she left. The clip itself is 15 minutes long, with Linus reading off the "policies" they have in place. However, one of the bullet points/suggestions in their policies is encouraging the employee to seek out a one on one with the harasser in question BEFORE proceeding to filing a complain/informing HR of the issue. After the meeting ends, Justin (employee), makes a comment to Linus (standing on a table), insuiating he do a sexual dance since he was up there. This is AFTER a sexual harrassment meeting. Linus tried to save face with a PR Statement to the Verge earlier today, stating he wasn't aware of the issues or that was even happening behind the scenes. When it clearly was, since he was the one calling for the emergency meeting. His wife (Yvonne) was the HEAD of HR, as well as a OWNER. She held both titles, which created a big conflict of interest which added onto the fuel in the fire. If you have a complaint about your boss, how do you approach HR (his wife) of the issue when sides will clearly be taken? His wife was in that meeting that was leaked (he asks the team if, there are any questions for himself or his wife before the inappropriate joke was made). However, the companies ethics are still called into question. If you're making an "apology" video, you shouldn't be adding in jokes, quips, and "sponsor" readings when the timing is highly inappropriate to the subject matter. It came off very disengenous, and plugging in their merch during random parts of the video talking about how they need to do better etc etc is why the community was in an uproar about them refusing to take this issue seriously.
@vickas54 Жыл бұрын
HR departments are famously corporate defenders. Their job is to prevent these issues from affecting the company, most often by minimizing or dismissing the victims. It should not be their role, but that's what we've seen in many many cases. Do not trust HR. If your report to them seems less than #1 priority, or you don't see timely followup, find another way, or a way out!

The abuse of telling someone to be assertive and then dogging them when they are assertive is a very common toxic abuse... it's to make someone feel small no matter what. There's a few of the team they just seem like cave men. It's also clear that a lot of the straight shooting has actually been a defensive tactic. Then, they seem to be separating the harassment charges from this treatment... as that initial treatment leads to making such actions like they confident to get away with. Person becomes a peice of to everyone then people ignore things happening to them
