He is also jewish, which i know sounds weird but hear me out, Last year, he got attacked by some………… extremely racist people, they found out he wasnt a mexican catholic, and he was a Argentinian-Syrian Jew, and they jumped him in the middle of the night with his family, they found out who he was because he had a Facebook page and thats where they found out everything about him, and almost killed him, rn he is fine, but if they stabbed him 2 inches to the left of his kidney, he would have been paralyzed I want to spread Awareness about this issue and help people that are in danger like my friend, people with different religions and ethnicities are still human.

It sucks that people suck so bad, I'm an atheist myself, but the idea that people should be able to limit other peoples beliefs, personally, just rings to the same tune as limiting the thoughts people can have, which is inherently detrimental to the mental state of people, you don't know how someone came to the conclusions they did on faith, you cannot know their journey, you can only choose to demonize it or accept it as it is, and a lot of people, even on my side think that progress means getting rid of these cultural phenomenon, but as it goes, as someone who believes in nothing but cold hard science, taking away the one thing someone has to believe simply because they feel comforted by it is one of the worse things you can do to someone.

To ramble a bit more, some of the nicest people I've ever known were religious, some of my old neighbors were sikh and because I was older, my mum had me help keep their kids occupied(which resulted in a lot of listening to the gummy bear song... oh god... anyway) they were some of the nicest people I've ever known and some people just hate them because skin not white, all I'm saying is when my parents went away, the mum brought over a big platter of their traditional foods and it was so good, and it's less about the food and more because they help in kind, they were always friendly to me, and another thing easy to forget is that, without these religions and cultures, many of the things we have today like food and yearly events we enjoy might just not exist, and I think that would be tragic, frankly.

Ironic she uses Satan to teach him what he already knows. Anti-semitism is on the rise because Satan wants the Jewish people dead. If all Jewish people die, then Jesus Christ, God himself, the actual Messiah they denied 2000 years ago, can’t come back. Blindness is come unto the Jews until the fullness of the Gentiles. Romans chapters 9-11. The prophet Zechariah prophecies that Jerusalem during the 70th week of Daniel will be a stumbling block for all nations, that the idol shepherd from chapter 11 will persecute and kill 2/3 of the Jews, and the 1/3 of Jews who survive will look on God, whom they have pierced, from Zechariah chapter 12, every single Jew that survives will be saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, whom the Jews pierced 2000 years ago. Satan will indwell the idol shepherd at the midpoint of the 70th week and seek to kill all Jews. Every Jew on the planet will run to Israel soon because antisemitism will be the norm. The solution to this? Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Messiah, who came to wash away our sins, God who provided HIMSELF, as the spotless lamb. If you turn to him now, you will be spared from the coming Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

Religion has been a sore topic lately and I have been feeling the antiwave with how much I spent online and its alwase good to be reminded about how lables dont make the person and judging before you get to know a person is pretty awful. However Im still pretty concerned about how quick people are to censoring opinions on this topic. If only the world had cooler heads and clearer visions we wouldnt have to fight over the silliest little things. Its really scary how much religion is used to control too instead of uplift in many cases. In the end all i really want is freedom to speak my mind and form my own opinions and find my own way. So respect on forging your own path and taking strength from your bloods past and as long as you do good may good come to you.

As a Native American, it is so nice to have a name to the thing occurring among so many generations and cultures. I never had a name for the phenomenon where a person's family heritage isn't passed down. I've been struggling to reach through Google and pull it back out while feeling like it's minimized around me. We are hoping that classes encouraging those languages can help bridge the gap between the lost heritage and bring us closer to it. Thank you for this spotlight on other religions and cultures. It was ironically a Christian school that encouraged exploration or other cultures and religions. It was incredibly informative and eye-opening. Hopefully other schools can be this welcoming in the future :)

The even more unfortunate part is that Jewish people aren't the only ones who get attacked/harrassed/forced to assimilate (in the closet) for being a minority or marginalized group. The unfortunate truth is that a good amount of people have to either hide a part of themselves or be harrassed for it by someone. And even if they do hide it, someone could find out somehow. If we lived in a world where only Jewish people were harassed for their identity, it'd be a lot better world. But still incredibly awful and unfair to people who don't deserve it. We don't live in that world, unfortunately. And no one's experience is any less valid because another may have had it worse or is also mistreated. I just hope that one day we can all be more knowledgeable and open about people and identities not of our own and understand each other better. The world then would be much better than we have now. Another thing that makes it hard to call out bad behavior is that hate is often mingled with or disguised as politics or opinions. Some even attempt to make people calling them out or uncomfortable with them as the "actual" oppressors because they're "silencing" them because the person callling them out has major issues with what they're saying. "It's just my opinion bro. Stop being so sensitive and trying to silence me. You can't control my speech because this is 'Murica." Ex.: Trans people requesting to be respected with the right name/pronouns, people asking someone not to say slurs, Jewish people not wanting to be harrassed and asking for someone not to spread misinformation, etc.

I'm hopeful that the world can become much better but it does look bleak right now. As long as we do our best to let love, knowledge, and understanding outstand hate, ignorance, and fear we are doing what we can to make this world better. This can be done in infinite ways and at almost any time. But, they all contribute to the world toll of kindness, respect, and plunging of hate/harm.

I remember going to a place for summer camp, after at least an hour a Jewish summer camp came to the place. They came into the soccer place they had in the place and we actually had a good time. When they left I found a few stuff I thought were from the Jewish camp like the hat and a phone. I gave it to the instructor and he thanked me I’ll never forget that time.

The concepts of Anthropology in this video are so interesting, talking about not only government pressure to "fit in" but also social pressure. You presented all of this in a way that is understandable and shares your personal experience (obviously, since this is your story) but also shows all the stories that affected your culture and religion relating to Judaism. Thank you for sharing your stories and helping people who can relate to this, it is very awesome. :D

By the way i am a secular jew from israel amd i can explain why : " ledor vador " means "from generation to generation " . Dor ( דור ) "means "generation ve( ו) Means "and" but it in gebrew you can say "and" simular to how english use "to" Le ( ל ) in here i think there was a mistake on translation . "le" is actually the word hebrew uses to turn past verbs into verb names and we also use it insted of words like "in" and "for" but ironically enough it does not use as alternative to "from" , the correct meaning of "from" in "(מ)hebrew is "me . So the correct translation will be : "Medor ledor"

we didn't have that, but we had to read Anne Frank's diary in 7th grade. And then a year later a novel written in the form of a diary that hits a lot closer home because it is set in my home town and it's about the yugoslav wars (there was no ethnic cleansing in the city most of the story is set in, there was some pretty infamous ones about 40 km away, plus having close family members who actually lived through the constant shelling then being refugees and actually knowing some of the people in the story hits close to home).

I was shocked that my friends didn’t know anything more than very base level discrimination from WW2. They cried a ton while reading Night in 9th or 10th grade and when I asked why, I was like “Wait. You didn’t know about that?”, and they seriously didn’t know. It felt surreal, because I had heard about assimilation from my Grandparents, so I assumed it was more common knowledge. Then I got doxxed as an adult for being Roma which was really confusing (in American culture at least) and terrifying. Whenever I see xenophobic and/or antisemitic behavior going up I get nervous because it quickly spills over to other marginalized groups as well.

A human who has rights, opinions, and beliefs of their own. I’m not Jewish, but I’ll stand up for most religions when it comes to horrible things, like (Anti-Jewishism). Also, I said *most* religions because some people believe Scientology is a religion; I am not sure what it is, but I acknowledge that they think it is a religion, I just don’t exactly support Scientology.

The fact that I was kind of scared to even comment my religion just now might give you an idea of how rough society is on us. People can be so hateful. I remember one time, I went to church with my family, and someone had spray painted a nasty word on the side of the building, because of hateful rumors that have been spread. It doesn't help that there are a couple splinter groups that have some horrible things, who people still associate with us EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. It's crazy both how similar and how different experiences I have had to the one described in the video. My mother is Lutheran, and my father is Jewish. My paternal grandma has been (and still is) horrible to my mother for never converting. I was raised Jewish but am secular and non-spiritual. I feel a bit like an imposter even though I was raised Jewish, but am not considered Jewish by some Jewish people. Even within what I would call a very progressive and inclusive reform Jewish community in Southern California, I have seen and felt a pushback on interfaith Jewish families. This includes from the (now previous) Rabbi of the Synnogauge I would go to as a kid and teen. It makes it hard for me to want to pass on traditions to any possible future children when I myself am in an interfaith marriage, and may not have myself or family welcome into that space. It's so amazing to see a video tackling a subjects and subject matter like that. Keep up the great work!

I don't wanna sound mean or anything but Islam and its practices aren't cultural, they're religious, while a jew can refer to a person following the Judaism faith, a person who is ethnically jew, or someone's nationality. Eid-al-fitr and eid-al-adha are Islamic holidays, not a cultural one, anyone can celebrate it, and anyone can fast, but the term culturally muslim is misleading and to my knowledge, incorrect. Additionally, hajj is a religious practice, no non-muslim can go to hajj, as Mecca, where the ka'bah is and parts of Medina, the second most holiest site in Islam, are restricted to non-muslims.

This is such a well illustrated video Illy and the use of dog whistles as propaganda finally put something into words I've wanted to have forever. I'm a trans girl and I follow old naturalistic beliefs. And the amount of clear shit being peddled by people from Nazi ww2 is awful. From the still prominent anti Jewish sentiments, too anti trans and gay sentiments. Even anti pagan. It's so fucked to think the world our ancestors fought to build is now being torn down by the very people who were supposedly on our side. Parroting the same rhetoric and ideology. The amount of people ik who have had noses broken in or kicked out of home for differing beliefs and identities is ridiculous. I truly hope things get better for you and for everyone else. It's a cruel world at the moment, truly cruel.

Yeah....that's almost as infuriating as "You don't look autistic." Wth does someone's looks have to do with what's going on with them?

As a "matrilineal" Jew from both sides? I actually godwinned myself in an Israeli courtroom no less. Through a complex series of events which I shall not go into here, I testified against the pot dealer we had bought from. He decided to represent himself. So he got up an aggressively asked me how I could recognize him. "Uh...well, you have a really big nose..." We left town pretty quickly after that. *wrylook*

The n@zi propaganda made up the nose thing. Well, not them specifically but antisemitic books for adults and children's books. Popular in Germany before the party's rise to power.

As someone who is also Jewish through my father's side (although I'm an active Episcopalian in regards to religion), it makes me really happy to see other people celebrate and embrace their Jewish heritage later on in life. I'm proud of my Jewish heritage, but a combination of not being told too much about it as a child and being raised Catholic means that I sometimes feel guilty for embracing it or bringing it up, with some (typically non-Jewish) people brushing me off with "Well, you're not technically Jewish, so you can't say that you are." Videos like this show how much more nuanced things really are, and that we shouldn't limit ourselves by keeping away from the parts of our heritage that can strengthen bonds, form communities, and educate people.

I thought Episcopalians were Christians. At least I thought Episcopal churches were the one and only sect of Christians that openly support science and LGBT acceptance. You know things are bad most of the other groups don't.

@@rommix0 Ah, I forgot to add a little detail. I didn't misspeak when I said I was raised Catholic. I technically wasn't raised in the Episcopal church, more... alongside it. The Episcopal Church wasn't my mother's religion, nor was it the religion of my school. However, both my mother and I found a welcoming community with our local Episcopalian church, and I went to a lot of its services, probably more than the services of the Church I was actually born into. Once I was old enough to learn the differences between "Roman Catholic", "Episcopal", and "various other Christian denominations," I basically "converted." So you're right, Episcopalians are part of a Christian denomination, I just didn't give the whole story.

Hi Illymation! Thank you for making this video. As a Jewish person living in North America, it's getting really isolating in recent months. I am sorry you've had such bad experiences. I hope we can all learn from the past.

So sad that so many people still don't have respect for those who are different from them. We all should be treated equally and respect each other's rights

It still scares me how much hate is in the world. From where someones born, the language they speak, the colour of their skin, their gender and sexuality, their religious beliefs, literally anything! its depressing that we arent passed this kind of stuff yet. Videos like this are super important, and I hope with more people sharing their stories we'll finally be able to move on from all this hate

I know, but if we want change, we must be part of it. Unfortunately, people are mostly resistant to change. But sometimes, people can change. We need more people who aren’t good, but can change to be good.

I will never understand people who hate people for their religion or race or even stereotype them for stupid reasons. I just respect people for their beliefs and let them be. Do what YOU want with your life, Illy ☺️

Woah when you said Lador Va'ddor, it struck me that I remembered/recognized it from Hebrew School back when I was young. Cool to know you're also Jewish! I'm also a secular Jew and it is deffinitly hard to explain sometimes to people outside the know of Jewish people.
