Finally viewed this video. Just finished reading it. Absolutely loved it. You could call Piranesi dim-witted, I prefer ‘naive’. Which in this case is a compliment. The way he apologizes to Ketterly at the end (p216) is illustrative of his naivety. The House has turned him into an almost unbelievable nice and kind human being. More in my own upcoming video on this literary fantasy.

Interesting, I didn't think of that when I first read it. I really liked this book, it's a quick read that left a big impact on me, but my issue with the book was the main character reading journals took up too much time of the story. It's the same with the Sazed chapters in Mistborn, way too much journal reading instead of living in and exploring the world.

I hate it when there's a bit bit of exposition in a novel that makes you think "what the heck was the point of that! " nice one mate
