Huh? This is the dumbest conversation that's hit the sports world in the last 6 months. Singling out 1 dude cause it happens on primetime meanwhile people suffering concussions every single week. @@Nick1994Hstfu. You’re causing problems for nothing. Man is showing concern, and Josh Allen didn’t look like he’s throwing gang signs after a hit (multiple times). Allen is also much bigger than Tua and doesn’t lead with his head when running. You just sound like a jackass… clearly Tua is the BIGGEST concern for everyone, fan or player, for concussions and cte occurring… so Flemlo shedding some light on his situation helps awareness for ALL players. Hope you have a nice day.

He’s a really cool guy, young kids look up to him as a cool guy. He could own this and become the spearhead of the movement that gets high school and college guys to wear these things. The more guys that wear them the more the company will refine how they look - although I’ve seen him wear one on hard knocks during training and he looks fine.

This! Yes! When a kid doesn't want to wear a seat belt because he looks "less cool" you convince him that it's actually a cooler move to wear it. Why? Because it shows you don't gaf what others think, you're smart, and you're an independent thinker. So instead of perpetuating the stigma that it's not cool, be that guy that MAKES it cool.

@respectdawildo_danjones508 the fuck you on hoss? Protecting yourself isn't being a pussy, it's being smart. What the hell does protective equipment have to do with whatever you're on about? If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, do you think they should allow face mask and horse collar tackles again? I know no one wants to see Nightrain's bullshit come back to the league. Or are you seriously advocating to get rid of pads and helmets? Rugby has only gotten away with that because they decided to make a rule describing what counts as a legal tackle and penalizing any tackle outside that definition unlike American Football where instead we define various things as illegal and otherwise allow for all othe possibilities.

By continuing to play the same way AND not choosing to use safety equipment, Tua seems like he's willing to risk being carried off the field later instead of walking off the field now. Fine. That's his choice. However, I also probably won't really care if the situation crashes and burns. (Tua is also passing up a major bag 💰💰💰 by not becoming the "poster boy" of sports safety. There's some many companies that would throw money at him to endorse safety products and it would help his reputation. Look at Hamlin.)

The NFL concussion protocol is a joke. Josh Allen got 2 concussions in back to back weeks and NFL said nothing. Allen was literally lying face down, not moving, with his left arm completely bent in a way signifying loss of motor control and being unconscious. He made his choice. Now nobody should feel bad if and when it happens again. Not wishing bad luck on him but he seems to not have situational awareness because that last concussion only happened because of him

The guardian cap is a godsend for linemen. WR and QB are 2 positions that get thrown onto the back of their head so i could also see them benefiting from it. That being said, it could give you a false sense of confidence. The more and more safety we put in place to allow players to hit harder and take harder hits we were seeing harder and harder hits and it led to a lot of rule changes when it came to tackling. I love Tua man he is a great dude and i love seeing him the dolphin colors. I hope he continues to have a great and long career because he deserves it. With or without the guardian cap, he will probably get another concussion because it is far to frequent of an injury in the sport but guess what. Thats football bro. We are still learning a lot about these injuries its hard to imagine that a lot of this is new information but it really is and there is so much we dont know

Dude had a modified helmet… it wasnt a cap but he is making and effort… btw someone just got a concussion with a cap on this week… so they really don’t prevent concussions.

The real problem is deceleration. Im not a mathematician but the physics of the human brain, slowly decelerating, in the short distance it has to move around, is something that likely wont be solved with some padding. The way i see it, the only thing that can be done is making the helmet larger, to improve the distance from point of impact to the point at which the brain impacts the inside of the skull. Then theres the problem of making the helmet bigger also makes it heavier, and if not heavier, the bigger helmet is more of a target. Just being able to turn your head quickly, with a more cumbersome helmet, is diminished. To the detriment of the quarterback. Speed, distance and time. Those are the factors of the equation. From point of impact, to time the brain has to slow down and the minimum distance therein. Players wont become slower over time, so the distance from helmet to brain is the only variable to be changed.

9:55 Tua’s analogy is equivalent to if he were to constantly get in car crashes with no seat belt and when asked “will you now wear a seat belt” he answers “no”

If you keep saying you look silly or stupid wearing the guardian cap you are part of the problem why no one wants to wear them.

I mean, the argument I've seen in favor of tue is he now reps the vicis2 qb helmet, which is proven to be far more effective than his previous helmet as opposed to slapping a guardian cap on his previous set of kit. I'd argue that we should have far more strict concussion targets as opposed to mandating guardian caps. If you need a guardian cap supplement to meet the requirement then that's fine, but the mandate should be result based, not checkbox based

The guardian cap is the equivalent to a knee pad..yea it helps but if you get hard enough to get injured it doesn’t really help! Mostly for esthetic purposes!

There are actually helmets being used that have a higher rating that the guardian cap , but nobody talks about those helmets.

I’ve also heard Doctors say by him wearing the guardian cap would add weight to head meaning if he did fall his head would actually hit the ground harder then without it. A concussion is when your brain rattles around. A helmet isn’t going to stop that

The specific helmet that Tua wears VICIS ZERO2 MATRIX ID QB helmet through studies did not show any additional reduction in force or show added protection. He virtually has the best helmet to minimize concussions & adding a guardian cap doesn't add more protection for this specific helmet.... Great video though bro 👍🏽👊🏽

I honestly think the dialogue around this kid is wild. 20 years ago cats played through concussions, bone fractures, torn labrum’s, Ronnie Lott allegedly took his whole damn finger off… a dude died on the field and they finished the game. They finished. The game. Not even kidding, look it up, Chuck Hughes. Now? We jump down dude’s throat for not wearing guardian caps… nuts.

We all understand the basic concept of how we get concussions, right? It's the brain hitting the inside of your skull. So, in other words, the idea of preventing concussions is to protect the brain. And we all know the brain is inside the skull, so how did we con to the conclusion putting pads on the outside of the skull will help prevent concussions? I mean, the point of airbags is to protect the driver, who's on the inside of a car, and we all understand this, so that's why no one is advocating to put airbags on the outside of the car.

The only excuse i can think of is it might be harder to hear with that thing on, if thats the case it would be harder to avoid sacks in the first place, QBs also need to hear info being from the center or... if my hypothesis is right it makes playing QB harder and ur blind sides more dangerous

The whole thing about a concussion is the brain moving and hitting the skull. Cushioning doesn’t help that. Helmets don’t really help that. You can scramble an egg without breaking the shell, that’s a concussion. The helmet is there to protect the skull from breaking, it can’t keep the brain from moving.

GCs look weird - who gives a crap? lean into it and be the big helmet QB. CTE is mostly shown to arise from the repeated, day-to-day trauma of practice and the constant low thrum of thousands of shots to the head. however, the Fencing Posture is no joke. that is a sign of the most serious head trauma that is not immediately life threatening. i hope Tua can stay upright and bounce back, but i do worry about his quality of life in 25 yrs. awesome to see you close to a million, Flem. thanks for all the content.

He won’t wear the helmet because he feels like it will give the critics of his choice to keep playing credence. “Look at Tua he’s wearing the guardian cap because he knows he shouldn’t even be out there, he shoulda retired”. I’m sure the goofy look of it contributes somewhat as well, but it’s mostly about the naysayers. He should be more concerned about his health than the opinion of couch quarterbacks, but I digress.
