I think most people blew this completely out of proportion, making it seem as if Anthony Richardson had tarnished his career. That said, he definitely should've just told the moral lie of "something felt off" or "I thought I tweaked my knee." We really don't value the truth as much as we say we do.

I would agree to a certain extent about how we value truth but for me more than anything I think that like the great Nas rapped too much of anything can hurt you I do believe you can be to truthful or honest to a fault which this situation was a showcase of did people blow it out of proportion?? To an extent but Richardson could have easily avoided a lot of this had he been more savy in his response he didn't even necessarily have to lie but jus comin out and sayin yeah I was tired was not a good look

“Perception is reality” …. Sadly, optics do matter more than truth. In the NFL it’s “culturally” unacceptable for your leader to tap out of a play for a breather.
@macalloway111 күн бұрын
It was blown out of proportion but honestly I think he lied anyway. I think he worsened a previously unreported injury on that play. Its against the rules to not report an injury because of sports betting but if you do as a team report an injury it gives the other team an obvious advantage. Once you don't report that initial injury it's hard to report it once it gets worse because it opens a can of worms especially if it's a fracture or something like that that has already start to heal and you have to explain that to the media. It's easier to just say "I was tired" and then team "benches" him rather then trying to explain on what play you injured yourself on, which week and how bad it is now and navigating all those lies.

I also had what was essentially a non-reaction to this when I first saw the clip of him saying he needed a play off after the last play. Received sub out all the time, lineman sub out all the time. Not saying that they always ask out, just that they do get subbed in and out. Leaving the field for 1 play just didn't seem like that big of a deal to me. That said, subbing backups in is NOT the norm when it comes to QBs, so (in hindsight) I understand why it got so much attention. Personally, I don't think he needed to be crucified for it but the reality is that he hasn't been performing even marginally well on the field and that magnifies any kind of mistakes or weaknesses that come to light.
@TheNatewl77716 күн бұрын
Hmmmm. I'm a Colts fan and just kind of want to put some perspective as well. I'm also the type of person who tells the truth and am very blunt and honest. I do think telling the truth is the best policy. It allows others to make decisions based off real information. One thing I have learned from being such an honest person is that just cause you're honest doesn't mean things will go your way or that there isn't consequences to your honesty. I've been passed on promotions for not being a more agreeable employee. I've also lost many friends because I didn't sugarcoat my thoughts. I don't want a QB that's not tough. Again, honesty, right? In football, you play hurt. Injured isn't the same as hurt. I already knew that AR missed time because he was hurt. Not injured. In reality, he is soft. No hate to the kid. I think his personality is awesome. He's respectful and genuine. The kind of person I would respect as a friend. Still, the reality is no matter his skill set. He is soft, and that doesn't make a good nfl QB. It's just reality. Like I don't make a good company guy. People aren't always the right choice for everything. I'm glad he was honest because it's good to know his true character. Now, the team has the information they need to determine if he is what they are looking for. I don't believe he is. Again, just because you're honest doesn't mean you're the right person for something. That's just how things are, man. I am a die-hard fan and hope we move on from him. Wishing him the best but not who I want at the most important position on my football team.
@aaronconners557016 күн бұрын
Being in the military I can 1,000% agree with you, I think he can still develop into decent NFL QB, but he’s very raw it will take time and I’m not sure with the way the NFL is moving he will be afforded that, but I think we can have empathy and hope he does well! And what you said applies to every aspect of life, not just football!

@FlemLoRaps16 күн бұрын
I respect your point and your choice to go with raw honesty. But parts of this post do support my point. The guy who got the promotion wasn't as honest in that business setting as you were, and he was the one who got the job. Now he can better take care of his family while you get (in that situation) the short end of the stick. This might not be the case for you, but some guys are super honest at work, miss out on the promotion, and then have to go home and be honest with their families about: -Why they can’t buy them the things they need -Why they can't move them to a safer neighborhood -Why baby boy cant get that Hot Wheel set for Christmas It’s because their dad made a choice that took those opportunities away. I've done this many times with sponsors and other opportunities, but about 50% of the time I later regretted it. I wished I had done what was necessary to do the most I could for my family. Of course, I respect you; we all have to choose a code to live by. But my perspective here I think is important for the good guys. It's like watching film on the bad guys who keep getting ahead of us. If we are smart enough and solid enough, we can employ SOME of their tactics in some regions of our lives so that the good guys win some. That’s what I’m on.

The biggest problem is AR was NEVER a good QB. All he had was measurables and potential. He never should be starting in his first or 2nd year. He wasn't even close to the level of Jordan Love in college and he still had growing pains even after 5 yrs of sitting. AR isn't a good QB at all. So unless he's running or using his size, then he just isn't a NFL quarterback on anything but a bad team where you can have 40% decent plays to keep you starting. But if his heart isn't in learning the position at this level, then he needs to take the money and run. Taking off plays won't make him any better.
@TheForbidden_1ne14 күн бұрын
All he has is big play ability. If the big play isn’t there then he’s completely ineffective. In the NFL the big play seldomly presents itself, even when you’re playing against dogwater teams. At least 90% of passing snaps you’re going to underneath or intermediate routes, and he’s no good in those ranges. He’s either airing it out long or taking off to run in order to get positive yardage

I know Patrick Mahomes is the boogy man and I don't personally like the Chiefs, but if Ant needs a role model, look no further. That Bucs game, he reaggravated a prior ankle injury twice and didn't miss a play, either last season or the season before, he went into the playoffs with a similar injury and I thought "finally, maybe an injury will slow this guy down" nope, he reaggravated it multiple times throughout the playoffs, but was still scrambling and getting 20 yard runs. Mahomes could easily make excuses, he could easily take plays off, but he doesn't, because he knows his entire team is relying on him to take them to the promise land. That's what great leaders do, they set the example that others follow. How can you expect the rest of the team to go out there and put their bodies on the line and give everything they got, when you won't do the same.

Exactly. It didn’t have to be complicated. “Something didn’t feel right.” Perfect. As soon as I heard AR’s HONEST ANSWER, I groaned saying out loud…oh no, no no no…I was half protesting while half laughing. I Like this kid so much. When my husband and I talked about it, we both felt torn. No that wasn’t a good answer for a NFL QB but we also praised him for his honesty. We knew this was going to blow up on Anthony but wished ONE talking head had one good thing to say about his honesty.

@@deemariedubois4916while yes he should get some praise for cuttin through all the politically correct bs and jus comin at the audience straight he had to understand a beautiful lie sometimes is better than the ugly truth Richardson has to have the self awareness to realize how bad it is that a 22 year old QB decided to take himself off of a still competitive game due to the fact that he was "tired" optically it was just not a good look

You know I put you in the same category as Markiplier where the creator is just a genuine good dude that made it. I feel like that's so rare to see

As a colts fan, I’ve never been more pissed at this franchise. Truly they are ruining this young man’s career through their own ineptitude. The slacking staff refuses to put him in good situations, then blames AR when he fails. You knew he was going to be a developmental guy, so why are you surprised when he struggles after 10 starts? As long as he is showing signs of improvement, he should continue to play. I’ve seen a lot of development from the guy. Is he where he should be, no, but he clearly is learning and growing. Pisses me off that Indy feels like they are giving up on him.

Fans will love you as long as you're winning. Athletes can't show that their human, especially when playing a dangerous sport like football. Franchises need to go back to when they had the rookies playing behind vets so they can develop. Most of these Franchises be desperate for a young rookie QB to take them to the promise land.

This was a dope video! Idk where you lay in terms of spirituality, but I’m a Christian, and this whole video reminds me of when Jesus said, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” Matthew 10:16 NIV People gotta learn how to move with tact and know their audience

All facts and since we're referencing the Bible it does say thou shall not lie in I believe that was Deuteronomy but Rebecca lied to Issac in order for Jacob (later named Israel) to receive his blessing so even the Bible understands righteous deception and the concept of a little white lie

Fake a hamstring injury. Say you are having an equipment malfunction. The act of actually tapping out was going to be tough to lie your way out. You just can’t put yourself in that position. Bro has every piece of physical gift. I hope bro gets the rest together and learns to be more consistent. He’d be incredible.

Great perspective. You have a way of putting things into words that I know intuitively, but can’t really explain. What Anthony Richardson did wasn’t a crime BUT he’s gotta know how to play the game. That’s both on the field and off it when it comes to these pressers.

I personally think moments like this can help de-idolize the QB position. It’s just one player on the team, they shouldn’t be de facto leaders or de facto faces of franchises. They created a mythos around QB so lofty black ppl were looked down upon as not smart enough to play it. They get tired, they make mistakes, and no one person on the team gets the Win or Loss alone💯

Of course this was well done. And begs to ask the sake questions when it comes to any and all divides of life constructs. Is it a lie we believe or has society pushed a narrative so long the questions have changed. I love this conversation. Thank uu flem. God bless you and the fam.

Flem.. wise words i needed to hear today. When I woke up today and saw the election results I couldn't believe that racism and misogyny and lack of morals won I was feeling low doing my morning workout yelling at my dog acting like a dick. Put on your video and you start talking about going along and deal with your morals . I just gotta except that the bad guy won and move on

All I got to say is what do you do when he left the field? He jogged off the field... So you're telling me you can jog off the field but you can't hand off the ball on the next play?
