I agree with you, Dr. Berry. But I was on Ozempic for 8 months. I have PCOS and reached diabetic levels. I went keto (didn’t know carnivore at the time) I lost 20 pounds and plateaued. My A1C and Triglycerides were still very high. I went on Ozempic and it helped me lose 40 pounds. Allowed me to start exercising again because I was so heavy, it was hard to move my body. Off of Ozempic, down 71 pounds altogether, eat mainly Whole Foods prioritizing meat. Much more active. I can do 10 pushups when I couldn’t do 1 before. I’m glad I used it, but I’m glad I had a doctor that was very clear it was an addition and not the cure it’s marketed to be.

@DanK123 Жыл бұрын
@@kiki121471 Wrong. You don't understand this. It simply makes you eat less food. When you eat less, you lose weight. If your movement stays the same and you eat less, YOU LOSE WEIGHT. @@DanK123 I concur. I work in a Bariatric Clinic in a major healthcare system sir so I absolutely do understand this. You must not understand the content of my my post. I am simply stating that all drugs have side effects and are to be used as a tool (curb appetite therefore eating less) and in order to lose and MAINTAIN weight loss you have to make a lifestyle change. Wegovy is approved for long term use where other weight loss meds are not, ex. Adipex and you can discontinue this medication at anytime. Although obesity has been recognized as a chronic disease, it does not have to be unless the patient has other medical factors preventing weight loss. So can alpha lipoic acid, chromium poly nicotinate, NOT chromium picolinate, which causes liver cancer long-term. Also benfotiamine. Fenugreek. R-Lipoic acid capsules. Stay away from carbs, drastically decrease sugar, and cook meals at home from scratch. No prepared prepackaged prefabricated pseudo foods. Eat more live real whole foods. No MSG. Eat grass fed beef, chicken withOUT antibiotics. Grain free meats. No lunch meats with nitrates, nitrites and nitrosamines. Viola. Your taste buds will change. So glad I found yalls videos bc I was about to start ozempic for diabetes. I've did keto off and on for the past ten years and managed to lose 70 lbs during that time. In the last six months since carnivore I've lost another 35lbs. At 6' 2" 255lbs now I'm back at my junior high weight and feeling great!

I've been on ozempic 6 months. I'm only on 0.25 mg. Staying on that for now. The ozempic has helped me control myself. I don't crave the bad foods I did . I've changed my eating more on it . Exercise daily . My ldl has gone down 10 . Hdl has gone up 10 . I eat protein. Lift weights. Triglycerides wwnt from about 200 to 65. I've lost 20 pounds. I'm pretty happy so far. If I eat things I'm not supposed to I'm going to feel bad and I know that so that helps keep me on track also. A1c down. 0.3 points. Blood pressure has been under control now also.. I still enjoy food a whole lot . I just don't feel the need to over eat. When I start feeling full even if it's so good I want more I can just stop .

I think overeating will cause major side effects so I do just 2 meals an day and try to not overeat lost about 30 lb but I think was droping a meal a day and doing better at what I eat still on it sice my A1C is better and was able to lower Metforman. So we will see, My side pain is gone but if I overeat well I think would come back. If I can get doen a full 50-70 lb might see if can go back to 0.25 then off it if I can stary at an health weight

I think just exercising and seeing how hard you work for it helps you lower down your cravings. When I did workout, I was looking at the calories lost, and I always thought well I would be walking less by 50calories/day if I stop eating a chocolate bar a week. Overall, that would add up to around less walking by 40min/week, which I could use to take an extra nap or 2 or watch a movie or spend time with family. So, by thinking about calories, I dropped eating habits and I felt less hungry then usual almost all the time. Keep it up!

I took Ozempic and lost maybe 10-15 lbs in about 2 months, but then I had to stop due to the costs. About 7 months later, I started taking it again. It's interesting that you mentioned the lungs. That first month after I started up again, I had extreme difficulty in breathing. I'm not sure if it's related to the Ozempic, but I never took the 3rd week injection. I could breathe normally again. I threw away about $500 worth of injections. Not being able to get a lungful of air was terrifying.

@@Julie-tc2ks I am familiar with vitamin D levels and lung function because vitamins D cured my asthma that I was developing in 2012 in one week! In less than 24 hours after my first dose of D3 I felt 90% better and by the end of the week I was 99 % cured. I With that I definitely have seen how a lung problem can develop with low levels of D. .( I'm also hypothyroid.) Still I would definitely keep thiamine in mind because that I believe Dr. Berg or someone else drew the connection between "air hunger" and Thiamine. I noted Thiamine with Benfotiamine also seems to keep the tingling in my hands less intense. Thiamine is very much connected with the autonomic nervous system and that also regulates the speed that things pass through it. If Ozempic is altering this there could be a connection between Thiamine and Ozempic and thus the very common symptom of "air hunger" in Thiamine deficiency. People can end up going to the emergency room with it, thinking they can't breathe yet their oxygenation levels are completely adequate.

My doctor prescribed Ozempic for weight loss, and I took it for almost 4 months. It was awful. I lost weight, yes, but it's pretty easy to lose weight when you're constantly nauseous, and repulsed by food. After 4 months I was tired, dizzy, constantly headachy, nauseated and had almost constant heartburn. I couldn't drink a glass of water without feeling sick. I no longer enjoyed my food, couldn't even look forward to a nice steak dinner since a few bites would have me feeling queasy. I realized that aside from whatever the drug was doing for my weight, I was also losing weight because I was on a starvation diet since I couldn't eat much of anything. I quit Ozempic a few weeks ago, and my energy is back, my headaches are gone and so is the nausea and heartburn. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone for weight loss!

I don't obsess about my weight anymore and don't have to because this way of eating controls it with ease. I have more lean muscle mass than in my 30's and can heft those 50# feed bags to hoof to the barn for the chickens. I could not do that 20 years ago. Thanks so much ~Cynthia

Thank you, Dr. Berry. I began taking Ozempic in early 2021; at the time, my A1c was out of control, and the next stop was insulin. However, it _might_ help me lose a little weight, my doctor said. I am currently taking Trulicity, an older drug in the same class, because I was unable to get Ozempic due to it being diverted by the weight loss industry. I also COMPLETELY revamped my diet, as well as exercising (I currently walk/run 5+ miles/day). I do isometric resistance exercises (pull ups, squats, pushups, oh god soooo many pushups). I have lost 150 lbs. Just under half my bodyweight, and I do not have the muscle loss that you bring up. Now, did the GLP-1 agonist do ALL of this? NO, absolutely and completely not. Both my GP and psychiatrist fall all over themselves to reassure me of this. On the diabetic dosage, I could have expected to lose 3-5% of my bodyweight, not 50%. But what the GLP-1 agonists, and Ozempic in particular, did for me was give me the strength of willpower to make those changes. By dampening my incessant hunger, I had the chance to take a breather, re-evaluate my choices, and change. Will I be on it forever? That is certainly a possibility, but it's not in my plans. Competitive bodybuilding, maybe... 🤣

+1. It gives me the willpower to eat the right way. One thing, those of us on Monteiro talk about is that it reduces the food noise. People with obesity who take Ozempic or Wegovy to shed excess pounds might get an unexpected benefit. Results of a small experiment published May 9 in the journal Obesity suggest that drugs containing semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, might help reduce the risk of cancer. That’s because the study found that semaglutide restored the function of so-called “natural killer” cells, which play a role in fighting cancer but often don’t work properly in people with obesity.

Bravo! People that do not get the food noise, will never understand it. It will always be "get willpower"! I hate that. Do they not see how many diets we've all been on. Horsepucky, I had Ozempic for 10 weeks, lost 30lbs in 6 weeks, also while playing racquetball 6 hours each week. Then I went on Metformin because, of course, insurance won't cover Ozempic, being "not medically necessary". Somehow, metformin is. Ozempic turns off hunger in the brain and changes what you crave and like to eat. I could eat once per day. I always ate only a fraction of what I did before Ozempic and I felt like I did as a teenager, eating when I wanted to. Sometimes I ate too little and got feeling faint while playing Racquetball. (Low blood sugar, I guess). I think if everyone got Ozempic who needed it, insurance companies would save $trillions in the long term and the country would make hundreds of billions more in productivity. It's a no brainer, despite the small risk. The risk of Obesity is far greater and broader.

As a Celiac, AMAG Autoimmune Mediated Atrophc Gastritis, pernicious anemia and Hashimoto’s sufferer, I have noticed no one has considered those of us whose immune systems wiped out the L cells in their intestines. I suffered for two decades over eating and feeling like what I ate was normal. I ruined my metabolism yo yo dieting every time I had to lose weight. I didn’t view my appetite as abnormal during this time but I ate far more than my husband did. Eventually I had a massive celiac attack last year and then started gaining ten pounds per month as I was ravenous. At first I considered maybe I had an eating disorder. What made me realize I had a physiological problem was the night I ate a giant steak dinner with vegetables and a salad and was starving one hour later like I had never eaten dinner. I was told about semaglutide and no one had a great explanation of how it worked. Once I learned about L cells in the small intestine everything made sense and the last two decades of struggling with hunger and over eating. If I didn’t have semaglutide I would weigh 300 pounds. Gaining ten pounds per month and feeling hunger constantly is no way to live. Semaglutide is affordable. No one needs to buy the name brand of this peptide. I wouldn’t call a peptide a drug. The drug companies jumped on this. There are hundreds of peptides in use. They are strings of amino acids. Sure if someone has a normal level of this peptide they could have the known side effects. Being deficient I have experienced no side effects. I am relieved to simply no longer living with constant hunger and struggle to not eat food every hour. I propose there are many Americans with damages L cells from GLYPHOSATE! Glyphosate is ubiquitous and eating organic food is no protection. People living in Mexico from the US are reporting weight loss while eating pastries and drinking alcohol everyday. One person is a friend and he been fat most of his life. He is think like a teenager now. When he goes back to Texas he gains weight. The weight falls off without modifying their diet or trying to lose weight. Who here thinks a mixed salad is a “very healthy food?”

What dose are you on? I don't feel any difference, between .5 and 1 so I'm going to ask Dr to put me back at 5.

@@TuesdayNightFever Why wouldn't it be? You've never heard of mixed greens?

This my exact experience, on semaglutide I can taste the extreme amounts of salts in sugars in everyday food items and in turn I have no desire to eat them, I have more of a taste for healthier choices like I really crave salads and fruit.

Coffee isn’t healthy at all. It’s actually terrible for you because it’s addictive and it’s a stimulant so it spikes your blood sugar significantly.

I was on OZ and my annual blood test was way out for my kidneys. The side effects were insane. Nauseous, mental fog and depression, lower back pain, tons of muscle loss, sleeping a ton, on the couch couldn’t get myself going, lethargic, short fuse got frustrated much quicker than normal for me, had issues with my heart rate and lungs also. Was always constipated and had headaches that were unbelievable. Yes i took a ton of electrolytes and a ton of fiber and I was still constipated and had bad bad headaches. I lost 30 lbs but it was because I was doing a lot of physical work and keto. When I went off Keto the OZ did nothing. Zero weight loss I understand everyone’s decision is personal to their story. The trade offs for not being overweight are a personal decision. But when you start getting abnormal test results for internal organs rather quickly that outweighs the benefit in my mind. Because you are doing irreversible harm to your organs.

My gfr just came back at 80, that’s low for me and stage one. My potassium is also up, I’ve never had high potassium this is indicative of kidney disease 😢 I discontinued at 15 weeks did your numbers improve??

Sounds weird you had ever side effect of OZ? Maybe a BOT or plant from Dr B

I have been keto for years and also carnivore for 8 months and loads only two pounds. I am currently on GLP1 AND keto and I have finally lost 20 lbs in 6 months.
@WideAwakeHuman Жыл бұрын
I mean this respectfully - but if you were actually carnivore (zero packaged “carnivore” snacks) for 8 months and you only lost 2 lbs then you’re simply eating too much - it’s physically impossible to be zero carb and not lose weight unless you’re overeating. I’m a pharmacist - Dr Berry is right, Ozempic is going to be a disaster with how many people are on it. If u can do carnivore then just fast 18hrs every other day and you’ll lose weight but Ozempic is going to turn out badly for a lot of people - it may be 1yr or 5yrs but it’s going to have major unintended consequences

Is dairy part of your diet? I found it's extremely difficult to lose fat when I ate cheese and yogurt regularly.

I could not lose weight for over 13 years and went full blown carnivore and lost about 20 lbs (could NEVER get out of the 180’s until now and I’m only 5’4”) but my blood sugar was still high after 5 months of carnivore. Then started taking Berberine and GLP-1 Semaglutide and dropped another 25 lbs and my blood sugar FINALLY dropped! Been on it for about 6 months

I'm so damn glad that I finally (after a few year of on/off) got on and stayed with Keto. At the time I was 130+ lbs overweight and finally came to that decision you have to come to, to choose HEALTH. I've lost about 95 lbs., with about 25 more to go. Eating mostly Ketovore, lots of carnivore days/week. If this had been around then, as desperate as I was for a 'magic pill' I would've tried it. Thank god for docs like Ken Berry!

This is inspiring. Thank you for sharing. I'm just working to get back on Keto now after many years. Cutting out as much as I can and working to go full keto soon.

I've been on Ozempic for 11 months. Lost 70 lbs so far. I eat when I'm hungry and I can't eat nearly the amount I used to eat. I really don't care what I have to do to keep it off, I'll do it. At 63 it's a health thing for me. I have lost muscle, but I haven't worked out to build muscle. I have recently started working on the muscles.

I think I must have extremely tough insulin resistance, as even after 3 months of strict carnivore, I didn’t lose, but gained 5 kilos! Years ago I took duramin, it worked so well, until it stopped working & back came on all the weight & extra. Also think I got an extra gift of permanent heart palpitations & definitely lost a lot of muscle tone. As tempting as ozempic is, I’ll be watching on the sidelines.

I tried both Keto and Carnivore and none of them resulted in significant weight loss. My body just adjusted quick to new diet (like any other diet previously) and retained the usual weight. So Im thinking about Oz, thought very scared cause if there gastro-intestinal side effects with any med - it gonna be me.

Thank you Dr Berry, I was supposed to start this medication but I started seeing your videos on Carnivore. I started Ketovore like your beautiful wife and lost 5 lbs in two weeks and was starting to feel better but was still hungry and still was considering this medication. Then I watched this video and I know I need to stick out Ketovore with the goal of becoming full on Carnivore. I will continue to educate myself on keto and carnivore. Thank you.
