I still remember shop class in high school, and one thing that was impressed upon us was the more exposed the blade is in operation, the bigger the 'hands free' zone needs to be. The guy would be MUCH better off using a bandsaw or scroll saw for the closer cutting work.
@IXxKratosxXI Жыл бұрын
not sure why you guys so pussy about his fingers. do you also painfully watch a chef cutting his vegetable´s? its their profession... you can tell all employee´s in the video are part of this process for many years. so is the man with the saw i assume. no finger missing, no obvious scars on his hands. he is quite careful in my opinion and is very far away from losing fingers.
@sixdigit Жыл бұрын
@@IXxKratosxXI The thing is there's many low effort things to do to vastly reduce risk. It isn't like Japan is a sweatshop in India. I can just picture some shop instructor giving him insta fail. Despite the obvious fact that this guy's a master of his own craft, likely with decades of experience. Like, your fingers are the most expensive push block you can use.

Операция нарезки пластины из полукруглой заготовки не доработана! Правильно было бы сделать перемещаемый параллельный упор, а саму полукруглую заготовку развернуть на 180 градусов (ровной стороной прижать к упору)...

Watching the dude on the table saw was stressful AF. How many fingers do their employees lose on average each year?
@IXxKratosxXI Жыл бұрын
none. looking at how carefully he is putting pressure on the piece of wood i believe that even an earthquake wouldnt make him slip his fingers into the blade.
dude cutting wood with fingers centimeters away from the blade likes to live on the edge lol

That is absurdly close to the sawblades. Surely there's a better way, even if they spent all their life making them in such a way and think it can't go wrong, it only needs to go wrong once... Why not use a sawstop, or at least a bandsaw...

Minute 3:50, those fingers pick that piece very close to the blade... and his hands are shaking... a few years from now it's not going to be ok, he could use chopsticks to pick those pieces up, he should be pretty accustomed to using them.

Seeing this as a European carpenter gives me a headache. I wonder how he still has 10 fingers left
Why don't the craftsmen use miter saws? They can do the same cuts for small pieces without the risk of fingers being pulled into the saw. This dude free-handed a few pieces. What happens when that blade goes a little dull? The piece will snag/jump and his fingers will go towards the blade suddenly.

How do you know who's pieces are who's when deep into a game? from the character on the bottom? The direction the pieces face?
@davidmella1174 Жыл бұрын
Yup it's from the direction the pieces face. What makes shogi unique is that captured pieces change sides, so all the pieces from both players must be identical. It's pretty easy to get used to when you learn the game, I think.

I wish they mentioned the type of wood used. It looks like boxwood but I’m not sure.
@justafrog9262 Жыл бұрын
Lower grade pieces are often made with Japanese maple, since that's a lot cheaper and more plentiful, but the fanciest pieces will be boxwood, with the top tier being boxwood from Mikurajima. Of course, a buyer can request any wood at all to be used, since it's all done by hand, but this video seems to be about boxwood pieces.
