The crowd is full of the engineers and designers looking to see what people are doing with the instruments they created.
@audioxix3 жыл бұрын
Seriously. I bet if the original creators of the 303 where in the crowd they would be like 😮, in awe at how this group has mastered their instruments and created these kind of sounds and spawned a genre that wasn't even their intended target market. I know I would have been if I worked on these machines and heard them used in such a unique way to create such sounds that I wouldn't even think was possible.

Japanese crowds are the most quiet ones in the world. It's just their culture but I'm pretty sure it made many artists frustrated
@InfiniteRhombus7 жыл бұрын
nah man its just different culture europeans do it too, but you also gotta understand that they dont really have "Rave" culture i.e. with drugs and stuff, so

I was there, had the t-shirt (now a couple of sizes too small ;)), still have the CD. It was a fun night at the Tokyo Egg. But what do you expect from watching a 'rave' from your seats in a giant stadium? this was before Prodigy as a punk band, they were a dance group (notice: only Liam ever has any kind of instrument) Most acts that night were English by the way... that is one thing I remember clearly. Plus my gorgeous Japanese secretary hitting on me hard all night :)

@phoenixw214 жыл бұрын
but don't think I could name another of the 20 odd groups that performed that night. and Prodigy were by no means a big name on the billing! So it is not really a case of not appreciating the band. But I think more a case of 'Holy cow, what the hell is this!?'

@housemasters1 If I'm understanding you correctly. You're saying the crowd's response to Prodigy was muted.... yeah? But remember they were barely known back then. The rave hit 'Wind it up' from '92 might have been the only thing many people had heard before that concert, probably because it was a staple played by John Robinson down at 'Juliana's Tokyo'. It is likely most people had never even heard of them before that night. I have the album (Avex Rave '94) on my shelf, and was there,
