Yes, we had a lot of crime. But now our cops can charge people with a felony, so things are going to change. But I think people should move back to LA or Oakland and or San Francisco and our crime will go down. We are not perfect but we are what she said. A community.

Bakersfield is so bad that buses don’t run after 7 PM. It’s very crime ridden and the air pollution is bad here. No it’s not all California. LA air is not as bad. Moreno Valley air is good. San Diego air is clean. So save that talk for those who don’t know. Also they are big in 2A so if you’re a minority, keep your head on a swivel because they might be looking for a reason to pop you since they can get away with it

I checked with one of my friends in the industry and he said: "Mechanical tech is a broad field. If he is in support/maintenance, then there are still opportunities. If he is in drilling specifically there really isn't any opportunities right now. There's no drilling happening in Kern County Right Now." Hope that that helps you make an informed decision.

Bakersfield is literally some of the cheapest housing in the state, if you are comparing it to Guadalajara then yeah, and crime is not an issue in the good neighborhoods, you don't get expensive houses and crime at the same time

It's not that bad as many say. Lived there for a while. In summer it does get hot triple digit usually. A car with working AC is a must. Regarding air quality there is some rare times where the air can be bad. People overall that I have experienced are very polite. Sure there's bad apples here and there but my overall experience there was not bad. Rather peaceful. Great neighbors, very diverse population.

The only negatives in my opinion. The absolute worse pollution, it is thee most polluted city in the US year after year. For how big Bakersfield is, I do not think crime is that high, no riots or anything too crazy. There is crime and gangs in Bakersfield, but, again compared to LA or other big cities it is low. A lot of graffiti and a lot of homeless in certain areas. Again not as bad as other big cities in my opinion. Many nice and safe areas with no crime or homeless. The number one worse thing in my book, again, is the pollution and the insane amount of dust, you will need to wash your car very regularly. Get an air purifier for your house.

I lived in Bakersfield for 32 years and finally escaped in '22 after retiring. The only positive about Bakersfield is that you're only 2 hours away from the beach, mountain and big city. Actually, another is that this is a red county. For those with health issues, think about this. Bakersfield is constantly ranked among the highest in air pollution due to the surrounding mountains that hold pollutants for weeks to months. If you can afford to live on the west side, then that's a plus. But remember that Bakersfield is known as meth capital of California.

Houses are cheap. A $1.5 to $2 million dollar house in San Diego costs only $750 Grand in Bakersfield. This is the reason I'm watching this video. I want to see if the real estate prices are too good to be true, and even if they are true, why they're true. I've heard about bad air quality, lots of pollution, sweltering heat during the summer, and high crime rates.

Moved there from Wisconsin in 1987. Moved back to Wisconsin in 1989. Just wasnt for me. Lot of racists. The Whites in oildale and the blacks everywhere else. Wasnt digging it. Prefer to live where people get along like humans. I will say this, though. Thank you Bakersfield for sending Jordan Love here. We are adopting him as an official Wisconsin native even though he never set foot here until the Packers drafted him. He is a great young man as well as athlete.
