I’m a new nurse just started in a step down ICU unit, and just two weeks I’m already thinking of urgent care. Spending 12 hrs with certain patients is overwhelming. A short time with them in urgent care and send them on their way is more durable.

Yes I worked ICU for a long time, so I know the feeling! What I will say is: it does get better. But there are still hard days and the urgent care is quick and exactly what you said - you can send them on their way!

I’m an FNP student & believe I’ll love to do UC to grasp the basics fast due to the repetition. Currently have clinical in oncology so I’ve had a chance to see the pro’s/cons of being specialized.

Yes, the repetition definitely helps to solidify my knowledge & skills. How do you like Oncology?

I’m a PNP and thinking about transitioning to UC when I relocate. I currently work as a PNP in hospitalist medicine.

Hopefully you gained some more insight from the video. For me, the transition made me nervous, but overall I don't regret it

I’m a new FNP and all of the urgent cares want experience. It is very frustrating!
@accordingtosara54915 ай бұрын
That’s frustrating! If you haven’t already, just apply anyway, even if the job post says the position requires experience. Sometimes they’ll interview you anyway and hire you if they see that you’re eager and can work independently

I love watching your videos! Just curious…where did you work before urgent care? Did you have to get any special certifications to work in urgent care?
@accordingtosara549110 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! I started out in the hospital working internal medicine/obs & hospital rapid response. I also did PM&R for some years as well. And no, no special certifications to work in UC! Self taught from a lot of reading & KZbin university

I'm in school for AGPCNP we work in urgent care? I woud love to do UC
@accordingtosara5491 Жыл бұрын
You could work in an UC that treats adult patients. At my UC, my medical director said that she is willing to hire AGPCNP and offer training on pediatric patients, but I'm not sure about the legal ramifications of this if something were to go wrong
@carringtonnoel4432 Жыл бұрын
I’m still in nursing school but in order to work in an urgent care do you mostly see FNPs or can you be a PNP as well. Do you feel it’s better to be a family NP to get into urgent care work?
@accordingtosara5491 Жыл бұрын
I believe it’s ideal to be an FNP working in the UC so that you are trained to care for both adults and pediatric patients
