Great video, very informative. Everyone has their own opinions on neutering. I found this as I have a male and a female dog and I was curious on whether or not to get the procedure done. I don’t want to bring any harm to my younger female if she comes on heat when no one is home. My male Am-staff is not aggressive towards her but would rather not run the risk while no one his there to watch over. Cheers for the well put together video 👍🏼

What are the cons? You said towards the end “what are the cons of desexing…” but carried on talking about the pros, like avoiding bitches staining carpets. Thank you!

Can I ask a question? I live in the Netherlands and the Docters have a bit different advice. I had a 20 pound male Shih Tzu x cavalier king Charles spaniel mix. Lovely doggy. I got him neutered at 6,5/7 months old. And ALL his life he has been harassed by intact male dogs. My dog never understood what the difference between boys and girls were, he just wanted te play. But every time an intact male dog came near, they tried to mount him and some were very aggressive about it. What we were told by our veterinarian was that we neutered him to early and therefore he had the same smell like a female dog in heat...... Is that true??? It was so sad because all he wanted was to play. He also was a very sweet dog. He never bossed other dogs around. He was unhappy about those other boys but he would do nothing, je eropuit just sit down so the could not touch his bottom. But, sadly he died last year (2022) of acute heart failure. Now we have bought a new puppy, a Lhasa Apso X Shih Tzu mix. Also a male. He is 4,5 months old now and I don't know what to do. He will be about 12 to 14 pounds as an adult. This dog is very different. He is like the white puppy in you other video. Biting, up in your face, very clever and dominant. What is you advice! Neuter him at 6 months or not? Is it true... Do they smell like a girl in heat? Or was my older dog so submissive that that triggered that behaviour from the intact boys...?? I really don't know what to do and you don't speak about the negative effects by neutering to young.... Please help 🙏 Greetings from the Netherlands, Daniëlle 🙋

Very strange advice from your vet. Early neutering can't suddenly cause a dog to be like a female. You will be fine to neuter your dog anytime from 6months.

I doubt desexing my beagle would help him enjoy hunting. I highly doubt it would encourage his desirable hunting prey drive. I doubt it would encourage him to protect our property and alert us to unwanted trespasses. Rather buy from a backyard breader that loved their animals than a pet farmer. Get good fences. Exercise your dog. If you don't like what dogs are maybe they are not for you. Perhaps you should consider a cat or a teddy bear. If you MUST for some unknown reason get your dog done. Consider a tub ligation or a vasectomy. This won't effect your dog's hormones as much. Woulf you like your ovaries removed? Your dog doesn't either.

Exactly right ! Desexing is just an excuse for lazy owners who can’t be bothered teaching or training their dogs. It’s easier for them to run around like dead socks poor buggers

I agree on your point on ethical breeding but don’t agree on backyard breeding if two dogs at backyard are happily connected to get their babaies it is more healthy than breeders what they do . So it never mind in backyard it is how ethical the breeders breed so stop saying it
