Best protective styles for natural hair or relaxed hair. Best protective hairstyles for short natural hair , long natural hair, or relaxed hair. These hairstyles literally work for everybody and are the best way to learn how to grow natural or relaxed hair, because the best way to grow your hair longer it to leave it alone and do protective styles and low maintenance hairstyles. Many protective styles are simple and easy for any one to do, so go out ad try it! Have you ever asked yourself, is crochet braids bad for your hair, or is crochet braids a protective style or is crochet braids good for your hair, or is crochet braids better than box braids. You may have also wondered about box braids and asked, are box braids good or bad for your hair growth or if it is good for transitioning hair. Also there is a common myth that sew in weaves are bad for your hair, so you may have asked yourself, are weaves good for hair growth. Do weaves make your hair grow or damage your hair. I answer all of these questions in this video and give an in deep comparison on all the protective hairstyles and tell you how to make your natural or relaxed hair grow long through protective styling.

How long do you keep crochet braids for?
@bryannamarcella
@bryannamarcella 2 жыл бұрын
Long term protective styles 1. Wigs/Weaves/crochets: no leave out. Wigs are best when hair is braided down underneath. 2. Cornrows: without adding anything on top (wig or crochet). 3. Box braids: better if they are bigger instead of smaller

I think this is good but I noticed crotchet gives me more growth than wigs. The reason why is because my scalp can breathe! When you wear a wig and a cap it’s like wearing a band aid. Yes you can take it off at night, but then you put a scarf on at night so your scalp is rarely breathing. Hence your hair grows under wigs but for me it is noticeably thinner.

So based on the comments below, braids, cornrows, wigs, grow hair. That means that those individuals who, say have relaxed loose hair never need a touch up because their hair isn't growing. Or those with loose dyed hair never have to dye their roots because their hair isn't growing. Or those who have loose natural hair never gain any length because their hair isn't growing. No people. It is that protective styles help MAINTAIN LENGTH as does simply leaving the hair alone.

I personally wear wigs but I don't use glue or any adhesives,just an elastic band to secure my wig. My hair is always in braids. I wear a cap under my wigs but I take my wigs off every night to moisturize& I always sleep in a satin bonnet or a satin scarf. Even with wigs, you still have to properly moisturize your hair, co wash, shampoo and take the braids down because your hair will tangle up, get dry& fall out. My real hair is long but never as thick as I would prefer it to be. Wearing a sew in with leave out broke the top of my hair off yrs ago so I never had one again. I don't know too much abt box braids or crochet braids.

It's not one size fits all, its through trial and error, u will find what works for u. These videos are from people who have tried what works for them. What works for them doesn't work for everyone. Wash, condition and protective style, experiment with different products and with time ur hair will get health. Sometimes u need to see a doctor who may find u need more water or vitamins or no perms for a while, do u first and see. We tend to come here and see people with long flowing hair and want to know what they used which may not work for us yet they feel like it should. Stop hanging on every word these people say or do and find what works for your particular hair. Their are no magic potions out here, but persistence in daily hair care. Yes, they all can give tips as far as breakage or how many times to wash and condition which all should know their hair.

I'm about two years late, but, I have natural box braids. No feed in or knots. They're about medium/small (done at home, not in a salon lol). Would still be effective? I have seen growth, especially with my last takeout. I had cornrows, but as I've gotten older, my nape cant handle it anymore. Love your vids, they're definitely helping me with my hair journey.

Great Tips In this video I been growing my hair with cornrows but I want to try something different like a sew in but I don't know how to care for it. Can you do a video on how to grow natural hair underneath the sew in like moisturizing and washing natural hair with a sew in

I have had amazing results with faux locs with Senegalese twists as the base and using the crochet method for the wrapping hair. Little to no tension and they can last up to 2 months. My fav!!!

I can't go longer than two weeks without washing or co-washing my scalp. Perhaps I could do braids as long as I can cleanse my scalp

I went through a whole natural hair journey and still going, but one thing I can say for sure is that weaves and wigs and crochets and stuff like that isn't for me. I have nothing against them, I just wouldn't want them in my hair. I have before and it just isn't me. I used to twist my hair all the time and also, over summer, I put my hair in individual braids. But recently, when I tried them, I didn't look right, so I stick with two braids, wash on Saturdays, rice water and conditioner works for me, but I want to try other things like aloe vera, onion juice, clay masks, ACV rinses and herbs and stuff like that. I also need to change my diet and work out more. I just need to buy more walking shoes because the ones I have now are getting worn out. And I also have a sweet tooth, so changing my diet will be a bit of a challenge. Another thing to add is that drinking water helps. I drink nothing but water. I did sneak a little soda in system the other day and realized that it's not worth it. I'm perfectly fine with just water. Trial and error on your own hair helps. What works for one person may not work for you. For example, I have high porosity hair, but I have been following these low porosity youtubers because they have low porosity, so I thought I did. It's the same with hair styles. I can't really say which hair style works the best for me because they all kind of end with the same result. I never see much of a difference, or if I do, I wouldn't know because my memory is terrible. I do want to try individual braids again. I might try putting them in tomorrow. I just washed my hair today (no rice water, my hair needs a break from the protein) and put some olive oil product in my hair and it is really soft. I want to stretch it first and see if that helps and go on with it. If it still doesn't look right, I'll go back to two braids, or the style my hair is in right now (three big braids on each side, going back into two buns) and leave it like that and do individual braids when I go home (I'm in college right now and can't afford to look like a who done it). So, yeah.

How do you feel twists work for a protective style? And how long should/could it be left in?

Due to Covid 19 virus I relaxed my own hair cause my hairdressers are closed to do it and damaged my hair so bad....Because of that I just started braiding my hair and I'm enjoying it....It makes me look cute.....I've decided to braid my hair for the rest of the year to rest off the chemicals in my hair and also I know that braiding my hair like every two months will grow my hair......I'm just gonna do a different braid hairstyle every two months just to motivate me to keep braids in my hair for the rest of the year......Also you must do your hair treatments when you take out each braid so that you put back the oils and nutrients in your hair.....Braiding is great but nourish your hair after each braid......

Amazing video, random question. Do you scalp or put hair "food" or oil on your scalp, if so, which kind? And also I'm currently in a 360 weave, I'm considering steaming or atleast washing my hair whilst it's in this present hairstyle, I want to try and keep it for almost 3 months.., your honest thoughts on the matter will be totally appreciated and needed.. Much love ❤

Hi!! I'm new here. I've been watching your videos and I really appreciate the insight you've provided in retaining and growing hair. So in regards to the protective styling, how long should I wait after putting my hair in long term protective style before putting my hair back into another long term protective style?
