I love the "guys creating trends/looks for girls" comment because I think they're bringing up how in reality men do create a lot of things made for women. Just like how a lot of men write female artist lyrics and tell them how to dress. But Tony Ooooohh, let's not even start with jlo. 😂😂😂😂I love Ashanti to death, so I can't stand that lady, I remember thinking so many jlo songs were Ashanti as a kid.

I never would have had any kind of real issue with Jeffery Starr if it wasn’t for his weird, intense white nationalist stuff. Like, he keeps saying he’s not, but then he keeps posting the same things. But yeah, I think you’re right. The classism really turned me off of the makeup community. It was just so out of touch and so sleazy. “IM RICH, YOURE POOR, GIVE ME MORE MONEY SO YOU LOOK RICH LIKE ME” yeah, no thanks. I think I’ll just learn to moisturize my skin properly and avoid all of that.

Something I never understood is people and parents were acting like men wearing makeup was a new thing when it isn’t. Back during the 1500 up until around the middle of the 1800 men wore makeup. Mainly the rich men because make up showed status. It was part of history. Men stopped wearing make up because it was a new era and society deemed it not normal for men to wear makeup.

Makeup Boy really fumbled the bag trying to put Proud back in her place. Truth is, he was just like her, he let the success get to his head and was a big jerk to everybody and we all knew it. Only difference is that we tolerated it a whole lot more from him because he was well established and was absolutely AMAZING at what he did with his products which ironically helped with our confidence whenever we weren't directly in his presence. He also gave good advice that actually proved beneficial despite his greediness. Proud on the other hand was just a loud mouth who as always was going overboard trying to prove she's right about EVERYTHING and nearly crippled society in the process!! I only tried preventing that by pointing this out to her but yet 'I was the one who needed to be put in my place because you know... I'm LaCienega Boulevardez' 🙄 But hey, she ultimately got what was coming to her for a change... 😌

As a woman, i dont find an issue with men who wear makeup and have a social media platform (as long as they arent creeps, toxic or discriminatory). What i will say is that i kinda wish there was a woman makeup influencer who was as big as people like james charles and Jeffery star (both who are bad people). Boys can wear whatever they want- i dont care. Im a woman but i choose not to wear makeup just bc i cant be asked to put in all that time and effort XD. I have a level of respect and admiration for people who do wear makeup- especially if it takes hours to do (no matter what gender you are)! Men can be makeup influencers, i only have an issue with the big makeup influencers (men, women and everything inbetween) bc they always seem to be toxic- sometimes even doing things illegal! Maybe since im not in the makeup community thats why i cant name one famous woman make-up influencer (im sure they exist), i just find it a little weird how the biggest names are all men (practically all of which have done some questionable things).

I like painting my nails as well, I just don't because my work area is extremely conservative and it could end with me being jobless. Great video bro! As a consumer of makeup cosmetics the makeup industry is toxic. It has gone too far with over the top images and marketing. People that have confidence wearing makeup can rock it. I feel self expression in terms of makeup is healthy. People can create their own looks, styles, and experiment different colors. Makeup is a way of creativity and art expression. However, this is what gets on my nerves with today's makeup industry.........it's the popularity and fame that is the main focus. I shop at Ulta Beauty, Sephora, and etc. I get the products that work for me. Plus, I see this high over demand of high prices with makeup products. Literally, it's a way for people to get into the "latest" and "trendy" products to buy. Whatever people choose to spend their money that's fine. But just be aware of the "condescending" ways of selling and marketing cosmetic products. This episode is off the chain!!! There are social media influencers that are "Jeepers Creepers". We are living in a world of "oversaturation without quality" mindset. Lol! 💯

The makeup community imploded for a lot of reasons, but mainly the Tati-James-JStar feud kicked things off a few years ago. Things were not the same after that, and I think this episode was a response to what happened. I remember watching this episode a year or so after all of the makeup community took that hard hit, and JC got outed as a potential predator. It was like one thing after another and people becoming disillusioned with the Makeup side of youtube with every event. JStar's Makeup line literally is half of the money mogul it used to be because of the fallout, and Tati Westbrook abandoned her makeup line because of the market taking a huge hit. Honestly, Tati is one of the few that came out relatively unscathed. Yeah she lost a lot, but she doesn't have the crazy allegations that the other two had, she was actually one of the first people that started the conversation, even though it was more than just the odd behavior from both parties she talked about. It was a crazy time.

Seems like a shockingly on-point episode. Or close enough, anyways. Yeah, maybe a little cringey here and there, but it doesn't just seem like an episode about internet bullying on myspace from 2005 rebranded to tiktok, or as hamfistedly tonedeaf as some of their episodes on racism were. They actually took a stab at addressing something kids have to worry about now that wasn't really the case 20 years ago. Really does remind me of this show I used to watch called the Proud Family, lol. I also like that they allow Makeup Boy to catch flak for his behaviour without throwing the idea of flamboyant men or men who wear makeup under the bus. (Instead of coating him in bubble wrap to avoid offending anybody). Of course he's allowed to ride off into the sunset since his actions weren't really that much worse than what the girls get up to on a regular basis, lol.

I think James Charles is clearly talented and his audience responded to that, despite the social stigma. And of course there was some live by the sword die by the sword kinda drama. But I wonder if KZbin's AI had it's part to play in burying other players in the community.

i personally think it can be hilarious if pulled of right. or at least has an implied in show explanation. in yu-gi-oh they basically went from the VHS era to the smartphone era in what in universe must have been like 6 months. kinda implies Kaiba pushed technology forward a ton. which given the stuff Kaiba pulls of in the show is very on brand for him. but i have seen cases where it would make no sense. i think if a show has technology that doesn't exist in our world or is too advanced you can suspend your disbelief enough for the sudden appearance of current day tech in an old property to fit in. though seeing Goku from dragonball with a smartphone will always feel weird. the guy just has the vibes of someone who would have some old Nokia or no phone at all.

I personally didn’t like the line Penny said about men telling women how to wear their makeup. It felt sexist. And honestly, I don’t care if a man or a woman is the famous makeup artist on KZbin. There are STILL a ton of well known women/girl makeup artists on KZbin and TikTok that are huge! I just care that they spread a good message about also loving yourself. And I think James Charles’s downfall had nothing to do with this episode. There were rumors for awhile about his inappropriate behavior around underage straight boys. It was just solidified when there was someone willing to say it. I also wasn’t fond of how this episode portrayed cancellation as anything that SEVERELY affects influencers lives. James Charles is still rich, and just how often has Shane Dawson been “cancelled” but still has a huge following and still lives in a mansion? The only people I’ve seen get seriously affected are random Karens. As far as who’s the true villain of the episode, social media and the monopolies that run it are the TRUE villains! They’ve done so much to remove child friendly spaces from the internet, so the only ones that are left are for small children so teens and tweens can only watch stuff for adults! These platforms CLEARLY don’t care if what they are doing is healthy for ANYONE!!! And worst, social media can make ANYONE go viral at anytime! It leads to kids making the money for the family like Charlie DeMilio, so she can’t have a childhood anymore, and it leads to some horrible and predatory people gaining immense power and influence! Again, look at Shane Dawson or James Charles! Plus the creators of these platforms make guidelines that people aren’t supposed to break, but that means nothing if they NEVER ENFORCE THEM!!! There has been horribly racist stuff put on KZbin that they don’t do anything about! This is what happens when the rules are enforced by a for profit corporation! If someone makes them enough money, they can bra the rules whenever they want! Plus, it’s been shown in scientific studies that platforms like KZbin tend to push people into alt-right pipelines! And people have DIED because of “crafts” or “hacks” on these platforms, but they get away with it because of an old law that was made for newspapers! And because these platforms are internationally available, most people can’t sue the people who are actually responsible! I think there needs to be something done to ALL these platforms, and I don’t think the answer is just banning the ones that were made by people from foreign countries like the US government is trying to do! They should be held responsible for what they allow to be posted!!!

One thing I will also add, is with James Charles he's been basically a proven creep, and possible ped. Let's not even bring up Jeffrey Star and his lengthy list of bullshit he got canceled for. Many of them have basically gone down the drain, it's mainly women I'm seeing doing makeup stuff, usually though I'm seeing podcast style videos talking about specific TikTok makeup artists or brands that have screwed up such as that one youth foundation where they released their "darkest" foundation and it is literally just charcoal color they only used black base they didn't add any undertones or anything to make it a REAL skin color, when looking at the ingredients you can see for yourself they only used 1 color ingredient for the literal black as night "skin-tone".
