It's had multiple games across multiple consoles and generations and on top of that its had like 10 arcade releases which most of those games are based on. They aren't that obscure, even given that most the games are Japanese only. They still are making them to this day.

Its a whole ass mood playing Special Stage since I've been hosting Tournaments for the latest arcade version (IDAC Season 4 as this comment comes out) And I also hadn't played Special Stage ever since. Obviously because of IDAC and its a completely different game entirely. From analysis, this is practically why most of the competitive players would play in First Person for good reason. They can calculate their turns well without getting as much wall penalty. But even the general consensus was always Third Person was never the way to go, like a few exceptions of some players who use it due to your case it's a very familiar camera perspective in other games. Kinda wanna go back to it just for kicks really.

5:23 FYI you can unlock more stages after you beat all the rivals in arcade mode (you race takumi in happogahara after you defeat everyone and if you win you unlock the extra stages and characters, but im not sure if this is for every car you own or only the car you're currently driving) also there's about 30 songs in total and points are essentially a counter that tells you how close you are to getting an upgrade and upgrades are automatically applied, TAs (time attack) and races against rivals award you points, harder races are worth more points

hi falbere here the reason u hit the wall on the 180 turn is because the chase camera is bad, if you watch old videos of ver.2 ~ ver.3, special stage and street stage all had this bad chase camera, so most people played on the bumper cam.

Thought it felt delayed and wasn't me but still wasn't sure, loved your tutorial videos btw helped me get a grasp of the game quite early on, once I make a update video I'll be sure to include your comment in it! Thanks for the clear up

I feel like it also depends on skill since I can drive with the chase cam fine

Yeah the chase cam are quite wack (this is why most pro players use bumper cam for precision driving) until the later IDAS games when they finally get the grasp how chase cam works. Also Hi There Falbere! (long time no see)

ok so basically the way the points system works is that you unlock a part after a certain point threshold and each visual part comes with a performance upgrade. After you get every part you'll have something called maintenance parts that work the same as the other parts but they're only for performance and with those you'll max out a car at around 900k- 1mil points. the game can sometimes give you parts from other kits so you can kinda mix and match.
@kenjamago39772 ай бұрын
and for some cars they actually had some serious upgrades once you've maxxed out their performance level. Like a 10k RPM TRD Group A Engine swap for AE86 Trueno (A, B & C, the D part gave you a Turbocharged instead), Twincharged? 4A-GZE Swap for A Spec AE86 Levin, and the list goes on I recommend for you to read a guide on Gamefaqs for how the upgrade on the cars are. It's quite useful for the in depth guide for the cars in the game

Had a game? Has a game. Sega is still putting out updated Arcade releases of this game as recently as 2021. As far as console releases there is an excellent PSP release that is more or less equivalent to Arcade stage ver. 3. A PS3 release called Extreme Stage Stage is unfortunately plagued with horrible, horrible handling controls, Sega didn’t handle this port and it shows. There are some other Initial D games a middling Saturn game and an absolutely horrid PC game. If you get the chance to play the Arcade release I highly recommend giving it a try. My local Round 1 has a version 5 cab still. I play when I’m on that side of town. My local arcade had a thriving scene for versions 1-3 from 2003-05ish. I dumped thousands into these games, building different tuned cars that you could save to a magnetic card that effectively saved your progress and made it portable to other machines.

SEGA very much handled Extreme Stage - it is actually a considerable upgrade over the game it's a port of, Initial D Arcade Stage 4.
@properkroe2 ай бұрын
@@coatlessali while published by Sega, the dev work on the port was handled by Cavia the devs that brought us Bullet Witch and Lost Odyssey.
@coatlessali2 ай бұрын
@@properkroe Thank you for the correction/info. I still don't think blaming them for Extreme Stage's quality is right when it's an almost identical port to IDAS4 - just with Happogahara added.
