I agree 100%! One of the reasons that I love the Furs has to do with the 'scenes' that the Furs consistently painted for their listeners, e.g. that smokey, sometimes-spooky, dark, lyrically-intriguing, late-night 'film noire' vibe...scens where the details were hidden in the shadows & were worth the search. For me, the origin of the 'scenes' was perfectly summed-up in "Heartbeat", and perfectly encapsulated in this great song - a song that had a very similar effect on me the first time I heard it!

Amen, sista. They played a show in Dallas, in the mid 80s at the long lost and much missed Bronco Bowl, and it was easily one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen-Richard’s stage presence, and the beautiful execution of those timeless songs. I think they were opening for someone else that night, and they just blew whoever else was playing right off the stage. I saw them several times in the 80s, I think they must have toured for a decade nonstop, and they were always great, but that particular show was special, even for the Furs. I don’t go in much for nostalgia, but damn if I don’t miss the days when pop music was (mostly) this good. The 80s (bleeding over into the 90s a little bit) were the last great decade for pop music-the mix of sounds (and visuals if you count MTV) was amazing.

Back in the day, I worked at a Music land in Wichita Kansas. Then, most all of the charting, popular music was absolute shit. I hated it! But, in 78, when I started working there, it became so exciting. Like, from 78 to 81 as the occasional punk, then post-punk, then new wave LP's would occasionally show up in our weekly boxes of product. The buyers made random catalog selections for US and import vinyl. I soon realized that I needed to unpack that box my self. We got a great discount. So, I would buy LPs solely based on if the cover looked like something cool was inside. Psychedelic furs. Yeah, let's get this one. OMG. This new music saved my life! Sister Europe was like oxygen. Still gorgeous!! Still have those LP's.

This is good! I figured I should check it out, because the Foo Fighters cover is great as well.

The day my friend stole the tape of mirror moves changed my life. He didn't like it, so he gave it to me. Instant love. I was 17 and those were hard times for me. Putting the big headphones and listening to them for hours really helped me. Thank you guys. ps:Forever now is my favorite albums.
