This is 8 years later and l still cant get over how great this song is, it truly is the the BEST version of the BEST song by the Furs, even above 'Heaven', the original 'Pretty in pink', 'All of the law', 'All that money wants', 'Heaven', 'Sister Europe', 'Love my way', and 'Entertain me'. (my opinion) His voice, timing, tune and voice inflection is spot on here in this video version. Vince Ely's crisp/medium tempo/even keeled drumming is perfection with minimal drum fill interuptions, and keeps the piece moving right along. John Ashton's slightly dialed down electric guitar fits just right here without being overly 'heavy metal' but without any loss of intensity or melodic beauty. Absolutely ripping!! Robert at 68.

Nobody has more tuneful/tastey bass licks than Tim Butler. Always a melody WITHIN a melody, and never detracts from the main melodic structure of the composition, other instruments, and vocals, but always compliments.

in the spring of 1990 or 91--can't remember--I was driving from flagler beach to Orlando and my station wagon broke down near Daytona and I started walking and kept walking and got close to the boardwalk and it was spring break and jam packed and I heard the psyche furs were playing for free at the bandshell and they were one of my favorite bands so I got there just as they came on with here come cowboys and the place went nuts and it was an awesome show bar none par excellence with the ocean and the salt and the packed beach and people screaming from hotel balconies and after the show I walked down on the beach wondering what to do about my car cause I was broke to a t and in those days I was a slim pale guy and that day I happened to be dressed all in black and I step between two rv's on the beach--this is when you could drive cars on the beach by the pier and boardwalk--and there is the psyche furs walking on the beach and they were all thin and pale and dressed in black and there was a rush of people for autographs and I swear this is true I'm standing in the middle of the psyche furs with the rushing crowd and I signed an autograph and remember Richard butler looked at me like who the fuck is this guy? good times. dated a girl that they fought the wars for. her eyes flickered like candles in forgotten rooms. she od'd on heroin after an all-nighter in downtown otown in October of 1994. and that station wagon was a piece of shite.

Holy Taco Shells Batman! What a great story! Gave me chills. Sometimes the weirdest stuff happens so that we can get lost in a surreal dream, in another dimension, if only fir a few hours. Slim pale dude dressed all in black. YOU had an appointment at that beach, and you didn’t even realize it at the time. But you made it, and signed your autograph on the way out. I think that’s one of the best things I’ve heard in awhile. May this summer once again bring you such unexpected magic. 🌙✨🕊. Come back and share with us. ~Whitewolf 🐾

What makes a good bass player is to have a melodic structure within the song component itself that adds and and supliments without distracting from the main melody. Tim Butler does that in spades throughout the 80's.

I like to think Richard Butler reinintroduced this song into his current setlist with additional commentary partly because of me, Bob at 66. As far as I'm concerned, this is the 'Furs 'Stairway to heaven'/'Seargeant Pepper' signiture tune/moment. Not an easy song to sing, voice inflection, timing and off key chord changes...amazing. Tim Butler's bass absolutely superb/complimentary, and a nice tone. AND I think this shortend video version is their best version... And love Vince Ely's crisp/audible no noncense drumming that keeps the piece moving right along. Richards trailing off voicing at end of tune is an awesome sound addition and really adds. Robert at 66.

Best version of House in my opinion. Lead guitar is more muted than the album cut, a more sanitized 80s sound without any loss of immediacy or intensity. An amazing and complete piece in a shortened video format. Butlers more crisper vocals here and his trailing off voicing at end of tune is an awesome sound addition.

@@richwear5353 RRHOF has a hard time with 80s New Wave. They just don't get it. Cars, Cure, and Depeche got in but really late. And where's Joy Division/New Order and the Smiths????????
