Hell yes. Vi's had an awful time and as a child had been forcibly thrust into a caring role when she was clearly not equipped for it (and nor should we have expected her to be!). And is then punished both physically and by herself through guilt for years in prison.

O plz No one forgets about vi ‘s trauma but she is Older and has more knowledge than jinx does like the therapist said when vi was trying to make jinx remember who she was she was telling her to remember the people who is part of the cause of jinx trauma and she didn’t know that but y’all hate jinx and not realize what she is going through vi is not hearing voices in her head she’s not doubting herself she’s not fighting with abandonment issues no, she has trauma but she had a reason to fight when she was in prison she had faith that when she come out she will find her sister but jinx didn’t have anything to fight for because she thought her sister was gone and didn’t come back to get her and she was the cause of her friends and their adopted fathers death and that haunts her I love vi and jinx and I hope they fight together as sisters again and even though I don’t think that vi can live with the fact that jinx won’t be powder anymore but she can try to make her feel like she won’t leave and help her heal and I agree with what the therapist said.

People seem to forget Vi is a child of trauma just as much as Jinx is, even if it manifested differently. She is under a lot of pressure from a very young age and it's only human that she slips up. She might be a parental figure to Powder but ultimately she was far too young to handle all the responsibilities she was carrying

I seriously believe that Vi can't call her sister Jinx because she spent five years in jail thinking about "BECAUSE YOU'RE A JINX" was the last thing she said to her. It was the most hurtful thing she could've said to her at that time and now she just sees her sister running around calling herself that and she can't process that Powder has taken it and taken the word back to become another person. Vi still just sees it as this horrible thing almost like a curse word and Jinx sees it as her name.

While I still think that Silco is not the evil that everyone sees him as, and i'll get to that later, Vi refusing to see Powder as Jinx is because she spent a long time fighting her mistake, in the prison. She turned off that part of herself, and in doing so, refused to see Jinx for what she now is. Vi clung to the vestiges of the past, and refused to see how harmful those were for Powder. Refused to even consider that Powder was the one that shredded those vestiges in the first place. Refused to see the Jinx suffering before her. Vi used the only tool she had at the time: denial, and in doing so, denied Powder her existence, her validation for the horror she went through, the only one who gave this validation, and acceptance, was the one that put pieces back into the quaking foundation. Silco. "You need to let Powder die" is the one push, one 'mistake' he did, for he saw the pain and horror that Powder carried. And how they festered and writhe inside Jinx. The only way he could see this gone was for her to kill it herself. To heal Jinx, she had to let Powder die. To let the guilt of Claggor, the wrath of Milo, the pain of Vander... die. That was the tool that Silco knew, from experience, to work. And on the subject of tools, he also knew that Shimmer was the tool that worked against Piltover, and knew how effective it was against them. So he used it to the best of its abilities and damn near achieved everything. Silco was the tool that Piltover shaped, and Zaun used to defend itself... A knife without a handle, hurting the user while used to kill the oppressor.

@@lzmunch the Adora and Catra comparison is such a good comparison. One who’s trauma comes off as non-existent because they’ve normalized and detached themselves from it and another who’s trauma is so obvious because they’re so violent and showcase their hurt. Jinx trauma is so noticeable because she regularly has traumatic episodes and flashbacks while Vi LOOKS like she’s just chilling when really, she’s suffering just as much.

Jinx is an insanely talented inventor, marksman and fighter. She has useful skills, but that doesn't actually fix her feelings of worthlessness. She rationalizes that feeling by telling herself that she needs to do all these different things so she can be "strong". Being physically stronger. Being more independent. Proving herself to others. Hiding her feelings. It'll never silence that self doubt until she loves herself.

Vi was the most matured, and loving character in the show. She's done for Powder way more than anyone realistically could have. I didn't know people somehow blame Vi for her outburst in Ep3. "I didn't know people somehow blame Vi for her outburst " I've never seen anyone say that. I've seen and heard people blame Vi for leaving Jinx alone in a dangerous location. When the conversation drags out they have felt her emotional state was justified in the show but Vi still should've been mindful enough that she needed to process her emotions from Jinx in a much safer location. That's all they wanted from Vi.

Not only was Vi grieving for Vander, Mylo, and Claggor in the scene where she punches Powder, but she must have been physically exhausted. She single-handedly punched her way through an ENTIRE ARMY of Silco's toadies, and then almost got killed by that zombie kid juiced up on Shimmer. She was running on empty, and I'd guess the only thing keeping her from collapsing was the adrenaline. Physical exhaustion and emotional exhaustion go hand-in-hand.

That scene at 16:28-- to be fair, Jinx did just try and machine gun both Vi and Caitlyn, and just bombed a bridge full of people. I think Vi is scared of her sister. From that point on, she's lost, and possibly suicidal. She attacks Silco's operations without any real clear 'step 2', throws herself into fights that aren't even needed, and doesn't seem to much care if she comes out of them or not. She wants it to end, just like Jinx did on that bridge. Think about how long she's been fighting, how much rage and pain she's been carrying for years. How little she's ever been able to rest. (I suspect talking to Caitlyn in her bed was the most emotionally intimate she's ever been with anyone.) Vi's the kind of person that carries that weight silently, and doesn't so much collapse as decay. Season 2 is going to be really hard for her.

I think people say that Powder is "gone" or "dead" far too often; Jinx IS Powder, and Powder is Jinx. They're different sides of the same person. Powder will never be gone, no matter how much she goes through - and likewise, Jinx will never be gone, even if she manages to get herself to a healthier space. More than anything, I think Jinx is a shield, a stronger persona she has made for herself as a reaction to trauma. Powder made herself into something she felt stronger in - Jinx. While maybe they're not strictly the SAME person, they are both intrinsically a part of one another Even people like Ekko, who was close to her, seem to have this belief - but thats because thinking of Powder as "dead" is easier than admitting that it's the same person doing these things. Vi talking about saving Powder fails to realize that Jinx isn't something to be saved from - its a massive part of who she is now, a dominant part even. Jinx herself seems to attempt to convince herself that Powder is dead, but that again to me seems like another coping mechanism; if Powder is dead, then all the things she did and all the things that happened to her are easier to process, because they're not *really* Jinx's - which is who she's trying to be.
@redsabre69
@redsabre69 2 жыл бұрын
It's not that she flinches because she can't accept that she's gone. It's that she feels guilty saying that to Powder because she knows she hurt her by saying that. She even says it.. "You're not a jinx, god I never should have called you that." Which is sadder when in the LoL game... Jinx delivers a line "Jinx? It stands for Jinx durr" Like she's self loathing, because she believes she IS a jinx a mistake.

I love how they completely subverted our early expectations about her character. What I always think about is when Vander tells Vi that “what ever happens, it’s on you.” I imagine that’s one thing Vi internalized and so when everything happens, Vi still believes that. She carries around so much guilt for no only what she said and did after the bomb, but also Mylo, Claggor, and Vander’s deaths, Silco gaining control of the Lanes. This also translates into things happening now, I imagine. Jinx is her responsibility, it’s her job to fix things however she can, and it’s her fault when she can’t. And then she takes it a step further. In episodes 8 and 9 Vi makes so many destructive decisions. After the council meeting, she pushes Caitlyn away and then seeks out Jayce. She pushes someone she’s actually grown to like away and goes to find someone who she doesn’t care about and who doesn’t care about her to go on a rampage against Silco and his forces. She knows Jayce will enable it with that right push, while Cait will ask her to let them think of a way to do this logically. A child dies, and while Vi says it’s an everyday occurrence and that it doesn’t matter, after Jayce leaves we can see she doesn’t actually believe that. She’s just on a mission and she’ll say and do whatever to get it done. She was even going to fight Jayce in order to keep the weapons that would let her do that. Then she goes for the rematch with Sevika, and after she wins, she’s just… angry, exhausted, frustrated. That scream is… geez. And the thing with the dinner scene, Vi will always love Jinx (Powder and Jinx are the same person, just at different stages). She will just never be able to condone or enable Jinx’s destructive tendencies. She’s not going to shoot bystanders in the head for Jinx. Vi recognizes that Jinx has changed, even says in episode 6 that’s okay she changed cuz she did what she had to for survival. They both did. She’ll just never let her do whatever she wants like Silco. This is all just my opinion on the matter, however.

I wouldn't agree with your last take. I think it matters exactly that Vi loves Powder, not Jinx, and she sees Powder in Jinx, but it's just her delusion. It's like when you love the past or imaginary version of the person, not the present, real one. And I think Vi only by the end of episode 9 BARELY realises HOW MUCH her sister has changed. When they just met in ep. 6 I think she didn't realise it in a slightest, only had a glimpse while fighting in the next scene. Maybe even Vi just wants to believe that Powder is still there and so she goes for self-deception. I guess Vi may act against Jinx in the future, but won't harm her and will try to not let others harm her. Also maybe she will try to win her for the good side, I don't know.

I think whether Jinx is still Powder is questionable, or rather, the difference means theyre effectively different people. And while the emotional core is still the same, the differences that have accumulated mean that Vi really cant love Jinx, shes not the precocious, insecure and playfull little girl she used to be, shes someone who found an outlet for her insecurity and powerlessness through violence, and as much as Jinx herself may pretend otherwise to Vi she isn't going to give that up, she likes that part of herself. Powder was always someone who wanted to feel useful, to feel powerful, who didnt want to be abandoned, and as Jinx she was empowered to" take change of these things" but in a very destructive way, shes controlling, manipulative, sadistic even. She developed such unhealthy coping mechanisms for her issues (in no small part thanks to Silco enabling her and not being a beacon of common sense and good morals himself) that she ISNT the same person she used to be. And while Vi may love the person she was, she cant love the person she has become. Not like she used to.

Good analysis! However, she also has way too much idea SHE needs to fix things. Instead of asking Jinx. Let her give input. Instead she *thinks* its best to let Jinx remember the good times as Powder. However, Jinx feels GUILTY and plagued, wich Vi can't see. She still thinks Silco corrupted her and somehow brought her into that state. Silco didnt do that. He just wasn't able to stop it. Everyone copes and reacts in different way. Vi just happens to use her fists and feels overwhelmed in tense situations. There's a ton of people who react the exact same way. So then people who love Jinx and Silco feel defensive and double down on Vi's part in the tragedy, and then vice versa pushback, and so on. Why can't we have both guys. People have to understand it is way more complicated than either flat perspective. Don't destroy any one character to push your agenda, open up your mind and love how complex everyone was written to be! When she opens her eyes she doesn’t look scared yet, it looks more like she’s trying to understand what’s happening. Then she looks up at Vi, and sees that Vi’s scared, and her own facial expression changes to show that Powder is now scared too. When they see their parents died again, Vi breaks down and starts crying, and Powder feels like she’s too young to properly understand the full scope of the trauma they’re now going through. Instead of breaking down herself she just hugs her sister, because she sees that she’s in distress and wants to comfort her, that’s her priority.

I loved Vi more than anything in this show. She wasnt perfect she did mistakes but everything she did was for good intentions. She had the gooddest and purest heart in the show. In episode 1 she tried to steal not for herself but for her family she wanted to give them sth. She always stood up for her brothers and her sister. Even when her sister lost the stuff she wasn’t mad at her. She took the responsibility when Vander confronted them. She tried to cheer Powder up too by saying we all had bad days. In episode 2 wich breaks my heart is when she is talking to Vander and say to him she is willing to fight so she could give Powder a better place to live but when Vander told her “Nobody wins in War Vi” and who are you willing to losse Mylo,Clagger, POWDER she decided to give herself in so she could prevent the war btw Zaun and Piltover all this when she was a Teen. She was being a mother and a leader in her early teen age. She is impulsive she listens to her heart and not her head. Thats why she wanted to save Vander even tho she knew it was impossible to rescue him. She isn’t afraid to fight for one s she loves and she is ready to die for it. She always backed off and defended her sister only in one moment she lost herself when she found out Powder killed her second family(Ik it was accident Im not blaming her at all even tho she said to her you not coming bcs its too dangerous)and she was mad at her wich was understandable, she went to cool off and mourn the lost of her Father figure and her brothers and when she saw Silco approaching her sister she immediately stood up and tried to save her wich means she was ready to die in that moment for her sister but she got arrested and got thrown into jail for 10 years when she was beaten nonstop by enforcers.Vi is the definition ”No matter how much Hard Life hits you still should move forward no matter what ”. She felt guilty all of her years in prison about that mistake she did towards her little sister. She got traumatized when she found out that her sister is being called Jinx and more when she found out she is working for him and after this she was always hard, harsh and was blaming herself nonstop for what happened to Powder. Still even after all traumas she went through, she still didn’t give up on her sister and never lost her purpose in life. When they reunited it was the happiest we have seen the both sisters in the show. Just pure emotions. We can see how Vi figure helped Ekko becoming the person he is now. A fighter that wants to make Zaun a better place and to save as many people as he could and is ready to fight a big crime org like Silco s with only a little gang. Vi never enjoyed her life. Vi was impulsive,was sincere ,was a true fighter,was funny ,BADASS and the most important she had the goodest and purest heart in the Show and just pains me when I see the hate towards her. I completely agree but I think if you compare Vi and Caitlyn , then Caitlyn is the more wholesome and pure person - which is easier because she had a far more comfortable environment to grow up into. Still, I am also Team Vi ^^ - I can so much relate to her because I am also a reactive person. Especially for that bridge scene. Also in my opinion many said the problem was when Vi walked away with Caitlyn (after Jinx tried to shoot them!). But I think Jinx felt already betrayed - calling her a liar - when she went running back to Caitlyn when Vi heard the gun shot. That's the point when in my opinion the situation is already done for Jinx. But from Vi's perspective: She didn't see Jinx was there at that point and even then - I can totally understand wanting to help your friends when you hear GUN SHOTS! I would have run back as well - but for Jinx this is already a betrayal... and then she hallucinated when seeing Caitlyn - giving her an evil expession and igniting her jealousy even more so she fires at BOTH. So I don't understand why people are mad at Vi for doing what Ekko says and taking Caitlyn to a safe place. If you see Jinx's look on her face I believe Vi would not been able to calm her down in that situation. Plus Vi was comletely overflooded in that moment - she had tears in her eyes. Also what people tremendously underestimate is the fact that for us this season felt very eventful and we get the impression of a bigger time span than it really was. It is only about 1 and 1/2 days while act II and III play. Within this time Vi got only a very small amount of time with her sister. So even though she is older and calmer now, she can not comprehend yet how much her sister changed and her mental state from these 3 encounters which were not very long and always filled with stressful tension. Also WE as an audience get to visually SEE Jinxs mental issues- Vi can not see that - she can only guess her behaviour from the short interactions. So people expect her to say the right things, completely comprehent the mental state of Jinx and what she needs. That is absolutely unfair because we saw much more of Jinx as an audience. Vi didn't have a real chance to understand her yet - she is just overflooded with information and stressful situations. She just has never enough time to reflect on the last situation because the next one comes around the corner. And also a big point is, if you ever had the situation that you meet someone after a lot of years then you would understand that it takes hours to catch up on each other and understand the path the other person walked and defined her - Vi did not have any proper chance for that yet.

Yeah :-( of course the word would have a terrible association to Vi‚ who can’t exactly “reclaim” it like her sister did: to her‚ calling her sister by that name was one of her worst ever mistakes‚ and it’s the incident that was the catalyst for their separation. I think a part of her is even more hurt by Jinx’s insistence on the new name because it feels like Jinx is just throwing that single terrible mistake back in her face (she isn’t‚ of course‚ but how would Vi know?)

I also feel like something neither Silco nor Vi understand that she’s not really just Jinx. Silco lacked the coping mechanisms Powder needed. He let a weak man die and to him that was it, he was a new man reborn. Vi just couldn’t yet understand her sister as she is, they’ve been separated too long and she views the violence and brutality as Silco’s corruptive influence remaining convinced that Powder is still there. And they’re both right, and they’re both wrong. I think Jinx is Jinx and Powder at the same time, she became a new person and the new person is something she likes, she’s strong and useful now, but that doesn’t mean that Powder is gone, Powder is still there too, it’s not one or the other, it’s both in harmony. Because Silco didn’t understand this he failed to give her the coping mechanisms she needed to confront and accept her past, instead pushing her to just keep moving forward. The ghosts of her past haunt her because she doesn’t know how to accept what happened that night. Vi on the other hand just didn’t have time to recognize how important being Jinx was to her, the strength she draws from it, and instead tried to bring her sister back. I don’t think Vi wouldn’t accept Jinx I just think she needs time to understand her, because this is all new to her but ultimately she also does love her sister unconditionally. “Nothing will ever change that” In the end Jinx is both Jinx and Powder and neither of them fully understood that.

Absolutely! Silco ruined her by trying to suppress Powder, her love for Vi and her past just because he wanted only Jinx's side of Powder: he never let her confront her demons in a healthy way. Instead he pushed her to become a detached mass murderer, crimila and terrorist in a egoistic way because he wanted her to be like him and he's done this for 10 years. While Vi only got out of prison for a day and tries everything to go back to her sister and everytime she reach her Powder fucks everything up, because her mind is devastated by years of Silco "good parenting" But Vi was willing to accept Powder even as what she became: she literally says this to powder when they reunite in episode 6. On the other end is Powder that won't accept how Vi is changed because of Cait. She clearly see in Caitlyn what she always wanted to be for Vi, but always failed to be: one that can protect and love Vi and is well capable of as we have seen. Caytlin saved Vi life and took god care of her, while Powder only ruined her sister life. Of course it's not like this, but poor Powder is incapable or reasoning, now more that ever. And yes, again, this is caused by the poor "parenting" SIlco gave her. I too always see that Powder is always Powder, she's not magically changed in Jinx, this show is pretty much realistic in characters. I's also clear that after being saved by Singed she became awfully sane: she's not "Glitching" anymore like she was before. It's a grown up Powder that we see in the end, that choose to be called Jinx because she recognize that she hurt everyone close to her, like she's cursed, a Jinx. She understand that both her and Vi has changed and that they will have to let go of the past and going on with their lives.

Appreciated this video. What makes me mad is that people think Vi abandoned Powder and that she is still abandoning her. The fact is that Vi couldn't grasp all the issues of her sister after years and years being separated. She doesn't know her anymore and she lived for years with the memories of Powder when they were kids. Vi is choosing her sister, but not at certain conditions (like Killing Caitlyn). I understand that sometimes words said or not said in stressful moments can create very negative effects, but this is all very human. I understand people reactions to "Why Vi didn't tell her that she still loves her at the end? Why didn't she stayed with her sister on the bridge?" I understand their questions. However we typically have regrets after we do/don't do something in the right moment. Vi was processing so much in those scenes, and it is far more easier to say than to do something in those stressful moments. I think people should be more aware of Vi's state of mind: she was a young teen with so much responsibilities on her shoulders, she was alone for years in jail, she suffered so much trauma alone, she just saw again her sister who she found out is willingly working with her enemy and her sister is a cold-blooded killer. She had so much to process. I can't understand why people blame so much on Vi and don't try to understand her as much as they understand Jinx...

It's interesting that you totally view Vi as a parent figure. It's the role she has in Powder's life, but it's heartbreaking that she is also a little girl at the start. For someone with untreated SZ, doing normal, everyday things is very difficult. Furthermore, SZ wouldn’t explain all her issues. In this storyline both sisters are dealing with extreme traumatic emotional pain. If you think about what they both experience: War, loss of parental figures, death, home searches, socal oppression, loss of adoptive parental figure, loss of adoptive siblings, grief, guilt. If doesn't justify their actions, but I believe it leaves room to empathize with them in their worst moments. The writers did a phenomenal job of creating emotional complexity in every character.

When Vi slapped Powder's face right after the explosion I felt so frustrated because I knew her actions and her words really got to Powder, but at the same time, I couldn't blame Vi because she was a kid too and of course we can't expect her to respond as an adult would, specially knowing her traumas and the situation she was dealing with in the moment (cause let's face it, no one would know what to do if we were in Vi or Powder's position). They both grew in such a harsh enviroment and simply did what they could to survive while dealing with all their guilt, fear and traumatic memories. There was this short moment, just before the scene where Vi and Jinx fight together finishes, where Jinx notices that someone is taking Vi with them and it seriously looked to me like she was going to try to rescue her sister. Yes, she was mad at Vi, but still wanted her to be safe, she still wanted to be able to protect her and when she couldn't, something flinched her. Vi is an incredible character that gives a much different interpretation to how some people handle the incredible trauma of loss and death and the strain of having to be strong for someone else. Vi handles herself and her trauma well, but to me, her response is to fight, and in a moment where she can't fight, or isn't strong enough, to protect herself or someone she cares about, whether with her fists, or even with her words or her love, that's when her trauma and anxiety find her at her weakest, and the moment she can find a chance to release that built up anxiety, it all comes out.

Vi had been out of prison for 5 days by the end of the series. How anyone can expect someone to adjust quickly to such a huge change to someone they care about, or respond "correctly" in a life or death situation is completely unreasonable. i think Vi deserves even more credit in that scene with Powder than people give her. her way of dealing with situations is with her fists but even in the moment, she still managed to restrain herself enough to just slap powder (still violence but considering she just as easily could have gone for a punch which she probably would have had it been anyone else) and make the choice to take a step back and cool off. So while Jinx says at the end she doesn't think Vi can love or care about the new her, I think it'll be the same case as the flare she kept all those years. All her thoughts may tell her that Vi doesn't/can't love her as a sister, but there's still some part of her that still believes Vi does love and care for her just like how part of her still believed that Vi would find her if Jinx lit the flare. One of the biggest tragedies of the show is time. After Act 1 Vi and Powder simply had almost no time together. In the end we see them both making desicions while they have no idea what to do with each other. Vi has no idea how terrible memories to Powder/Jinx and Jinx ending up believing that her sister can abandon her for some enforcer. Another thing I find extremely sad about this lack of time is that during the whole series Vi lacks both experience and a chance to get some. I know people blame her for her decisions but could she behave different? Easy to think what to say or to do from the warm safe home with any time you need to. And Vi? First, she is a teen who is still learning herself while caring and being a leader. She was no adult and was under stress constantly, she still needed guidance. And then she gets to prison. What could she learn there? Certainly not the right words or healthy ways to cope or ways to recognise mental issues. I love how the show handled emotional stuff. A lot of media tends to use misunderstandings between characters as a cheap way to mine some emotional conflict and I hate it. But arcane doesn't use this, all the conflict always stems from the way characters are.

Okay, so I love your analysis on Arcane .. But I do have several things I would like to point out in this video. As a big sister who took care of her younger sister when our parents where not there. We forget so, easy, way too easy, that Vi has been tortured FOR YEARS, isolated from everything she loves clinging to that little sister that she remembers. I really don't think she "doesn't accept Jinx" Jinx herself said that "Jinx was born because of Vi" and Vi comments "I've never should have said that" of course she will not call her Jinx whether this hurts Jinx deeply, how can Vi literally in two days think that calling her "Jinx" again, a name who has been a precedent for literally murdering innocent people and friends (of Ekko) and a name that Vi doesn't fully grasp, calling her Powder doesn't mean not accepting, when we take care of our baby brothers, with the age gap that Jinx and Vi have, as a sister it's very hard to stop seeing them as the babies we took care of. So of course it's Powder, and Pow Pow, baby brothers that we protected stay very vivid in our memory, and even if they complain and explain that they've grown up, they are still that baby brother or sister you fighted so much. And we are asking Vi to accept in two days? Jinx had time to grow up with love, prison stops time, specially when you are tortured. How would anyone expect Vi two understand that even calling her baby sister "Powder" is a mistake? And about the bridge, it's true that she leaves.... After Ekko directly explains and insists to Vi, that Jinx it's not who she believed, Ekko points out that Jinx murdered his friend, while there is at her side this girl who she is deeply attracted to, that in just one day, released her from prison and showed her a kind of warm and loving care that no one had shown her for a long time. So of course after seeing a sea of bodies and her saviour almost dead she will choose to step off, because she can't fight Powder, and Ekko can fight Jinx. Anyway. Loved the video and cried with it. I just think we skip the part where we are asking Vi to understand something that happened while her own time was frozen. While Jinx had plenty of time to develop who she is, Vi couldn't possibly understand that because she is after all in such a short time.

I understand that Vi may possibly have reacted a little different in some situation but give her a break people (gladly most of you do). She does SO MUCH right and is such a heartwarming character who sacrifices a lot. I do not blame here at all for turning her back on her sister on the bridge. I even thought that was one of the strongest decisions I have seen. She loves her sister so much - but she sees what she has become and lets her go. In my opinion, Jinx has to take responsibility for what she does. Yes she is the little sister, yes Vi was like a mother to her - but as a little sister and daughter myself, I would say: You cannot blame your older siblings and parents for everything. You can stand up yourself for them and fight for them even in times when it is difficult. All Jinx wants is to see if Vi loves her no matter what, she hurts people Vi cared about. Jinx herself doesn't love her sister no matter what and doesn't see Vis Pain and her sacrifices. She also abandons Vi when she doesn't do what Jinx wants her to do and even SHOOTS at her. She could have died. In general, I like Jinx as a character and find her really interesting but jesus, that girl never ever comes out of the victime role. Yes she feels horrible for what she did and I understand her trauma, but now that she is an adult... She cannot simply point her finger at Vi. She also could have tried to find out if Vi was still alive. She also could have reacted in a way that Vi needs her to because she loves her. Could have tried to ease some of Vis Pain. I was heartbroken at the end, but I did not blame Vi for anything. She reacted really great in every situation.

Plus silco encouraging her irrational behavior. If it wasn't for him, jinx would've never had been there trying to make her family proud that she came for them. I'm glad you said that it was Vi's encouragement that kept Jinx alive in her darkest moments. I feel like a lot of people interpret as Jinx carrying on out of spite, but I don't think she would have worded it the way she did if that were the case. I also think Vi would never feel comfortable calling her sister Jinx. For Vi, it's a slur she used in her most hurt and angry moment. To come out of prison after 6 years and find out that her sister has been calling herself that the entire time, that has to be hard for her to deal with.

Vi has a strong sense of responsibility. She puts the needs of everyone else before herself. I never even picked up on that she is an avoidant, but that makes so much sense. She has been through so much. She is a parentified child who tried her best to be a good sister. But again, it is impossible for her to have all the tools and not make mistakes. I like that Jinx/Powder really brings out her vulnerability. One random thing I noticed in the show is that her and Jinx have the same bunny. They are two sides of the same coin. 🙂

If people are being critical about Vi not staying for Jinx while with Caitlyn.... first, there's already a huge bloody scene here with DEAD ENFORCERS, and for them to all try to have a makeup intervention in the middle of all that is impossible. Caitlyn and Jinx are clearly on opposite sides morally, with Caitlyn BEING an enforcer having to face Jinx that just killed THE SHERIFF and several others of "her own." There's no possible way they're all gonna stop and have a pow-wow right there. Things have already escalated past a point for words, things are how they are now. Second... you're right, Ekko makes the decision. And people aren't putting enough emphasis on that. Ekko got SHOT by the sheriff and lived only because he is prepared with armor under his welding overalls. Ekko doesn't want anything to do with Piltover after that and thus have nothing to do with Caitlyn either. Caitlyn broke his trust, so if Vi wants to still trust in Caitlyn then she can do it herself. Ekko has a lot of personal beef with Jinx, too, and this is an ideal moment to finally let it out without his buddies stopping him (in the airship scene). People really trying to make these things as one big black and white circumstance, but the world is grey, full of small black and white moments that make up a complex situation.

I didn’t even think about how Ekko would feel about Cait after getting shot by Marcus. Plus, he probably also realized that if Cait was telling the truth, she was the most important person there, so she needed to get off that bridge. He already knew that Vi wouldn’t be able to fight Jinx if she decided to continue going after Cait, so he decided to send Vi with Cait, who is clearly still willing to trust her, and settle the score with Jinx himself.

It is hypocritical on Jinx part as well. She literally started working and loving the people who killed her family (or tried to in case of Mylo and Claggor) and helped them build their empire on their bones just 90 seconds (or thereabouts) after she believed her sister abandoned her. Never once did she bring herself to hold them accountable. Even when Sevika mocks her for this, she is still more dangerous to her family (Vi and Ekko on the bridge) than she is to her family's killers.

Your early comment on 'whether the world is safe' really resonated with me. Whenever I analyse my own experiences of childhood loss, what unites them is a loss of security and certainty. What was trusted and taken for granted, beyond even the possibility of doubt, comes crashing down. The desire to return to some sense of that safety is intense. You already said most (and more) of what I thought. I wrote the following before I watched the entire video, because it was a the top of my mind, so it's wonderful to hear someone else express what one has felt and do it so well. It's about something that is at the core of their relationship/conflict. In the same vein to what I said about security, Vi was intent on returning to what she knew and loved, to Powder. She said: "What makes you different makes you strong", but now Vi can't accept Powder's 'difference', her becoming Jinx. Not that I blame her, It is not an easy thing to understand nor to accept when so much has happened. Jinx was afraid of that, ''I've changed" is one of the first things she says in their meeting in episode 6. We see that going full circle in the final episode, Vi still wants a return to what is already gone and Jinx accepts her new self. I hope the "new us", the renewed abandonment will not be permanent, but it difficult to fix this (or rather: to write a story that does it well). There is a great quote by Helmuth Plessner on "Heimat", a term that expresses something like 'home' in its most idealized meaning, the sort of safety I was refering to. I'll attempt to translate it like this: "That, which to all appears in/shines into their childhood and in which no one has ever been." He believes it to be part of 'the human condition' in general, but it seems at least to fit in a case like this. It seems strange to me to thank a 'content creator', but for once I want to actually do so. These Arcane reactions/commentaries have been great, and it was also great to see Jason Spisak's approving comment for the last one.

This comes after Jinx already tried to blow up and shoot Cait on the bridge. That’s plenty of reason to worry about whether she’d done this horrible thing. Maybe it would be a question of trust if Jinx hadn’t already repeatedly tried to kill Cait, but after all she has done Vi has no reason to think Jinx hadn’t gone ahead with it. Even then, the next thing Jinx does is arguably worse, asking Vi to kill Cait herself. I really don’t see it as a test of trust.

@@emperorleachicus2199 Jinx isn't in reality in that moment, well in many moments she more in her head that in reality. I think it is a test because to her what she did before doesn't have any effect on the trust her sisters should be providing her after the abandonment, that factual connection isn't meaningful to her trauma. Jinx sees it in black and white, she sees herself as the wronged one and her sister as the wronger who has an opportunity to redeem herself. Cait is the obstacle to that, if Vi wants to redeem for the horrible abandonment Jinx feels then she should *logically* get rid of that obstacle. And she enthusiastically wants that because in this twisted way she still loves her sister and wants her back. What she did on the bridge? Oh that just her defending herself against the world, why would that have any weight on Vi's sisterhood? That's how Jinx line of thought is at that point.

An aspect of the show I find really interesting is with Vi & Cait’s relationship. Others have pointed out in the flashes they have of each other - Cait’s shower replay and the flash of Cait that Vi sees as Jinx pulls away the dish cover. Their memories of those moments are subtly different than how they really appeared. Vi’s version flashes with Cait’s eyes more open and lips slightly pursed. Their memories are more romanticized.

I think you missed in part her reaction to Silco being killed, and how Jinx in many ways reconciles with his death by submersing himself in his ideology. In a lot of people who experience a loss they can obsess about the things that person whaned, their goals, or dreams or aspirations and we assimilated them into ourselves especially if they feel like they are to blame. And so, no sooner than Jinx shoots him, she takes on his ideology, his mission, and she caries it out.

the tragedy of Vi regarding Powder is that one single moment of weakness, one moment where she was hurting so much she was a wounded person before a big sister and lashed out, it swallowed all the hundreds and thousands other times where she was there for her little sister, supporting her, loving her. Just this one moment where pain overcame love made her lose the one person she wanted to protect and life and other people keep them apart too long for her to fix it. Almost ten years of regret, she gets out and the first thing she does is look for Powder, the one thing she does the entire series is try to reach out to her sister... only for Jinx say in the end 'no, you're too late' and choose the love of man who killed their father over hers. The monster you created indeed.
