@@ModernIntuitionist I believe it is not true that, "cynical people just want to drag others down into their pit of despair." That is one way of looking at the result of their behavior, but I think it is more a case that they want to lift themselves up, out of despair, insecurity, feelings of inadequacy. Without self confidence, they can't do that, they don't know how. So discrediting everything and everyone brings them great comfort. They set the narrative, 'those things, that person, appear great, but it has this deep flaw, that's why I never did that. You shouldn't respect that, you should respect me. }peace

After experiencing what one may call The Dark Night of the Soul, for what it feels like the majority of my life, I am beginning to enter into the stage of Illumination and Enlightenment. It is uncanny how the universe is speaking to me through numbers, synchronicities, inspirations, and meeting people such as you, who have provided a guiding light while I navigate this unknown terrain. It is mystical, magical, archetypal, etc. I have recently been thinking that one's Intuition is what is of utmost important here, in guiding one's destiny. Thank you Elson for providing the world community with your wisdom and insight. It is a beacon of light that I have found, while I make my way back to the shore.

This is happened/happening to me right now! 2 years filled with disconnection from the world around me, including episodes of utter despair and ideas that life carried no meaning whatsoever; then, almost overnight, after the most intense and profound dream ever, my Self presented to me and gave me a message of guidance. As someone who operated exclusively in the rational/thinking mind and staunchly rejected spiritual or religious ideas, I now am convinced that there is Grand Consciousness Mind or a God or a spiritual world (I’m still seeking my path). Carl Jung’s works have been both integral and inspiring for my journey thus far, and significant synchronicities have been manifesting themselves sporadically yet constantly.

It took me 53 years to realize that I had been sound asleep my entire life. How I could have ruined my life so badly is a real mystery to everyone I know. But, what they don't know is that I wouldn't change a thing and that I am happier than I have ever been right now. And so it is written...

Psychological health writers have given me great tools for mental health. I have not once considered applying them to these cherished pieces of cinema. I will likely dust these movies off and experience them through this lens. I appreciate you.

Elson, As always your videos turn up at synchronistic timing with profound deep knowledge to give direction. I was thinking soon as Batman came in, will the pit scene be mentioned and shown as I've been commenting about it on some other KZbinr videos recently how falling down the pit often gives me the strength to learn from to climb up again to learn from giving me more strength to pursue my direction while also giving me better creative ideas for like songs and comic writting before I fell in which is why I often watch the pit climb scene coming up in spiritual India and the other one I watch one of my favourite movies Shawshank Redemption all the time. That tunnel is many meanings
@ModernIntuitionistАй бұрын
What a beautiful comment, Mystik Rebel. The Shawshank Redemption is also one of my favourite films, it's an all time classic. I completely agree with you on the tunnel being a powerful symbol that has multiple important meanings. We come through a birth canal (tunnel) when we're born and enter the world. Many accounts of Near Death Experiences also report survivors seeing a tunnel of light. For me, tunnels are portals for transformation that take us from one way of being into another. I appreciate you, as always, my friend!

Re the Joker, the absence of brutality is not brutality and therefore, malevolent people should carry on being unceasingly brutal. If my father had chosen to not beat me one time, I wouldn't have been like "well, shit, since you're going to beat me at a later date, you might as well just beat me this time too... " I would've taken the pause and used it to nurse my wounds so I could be more ready for the escape that inevitably followed. Good is good even when it's just evil to taking a break. And most times, that sliver of reprieve is all you need.

I've spent so much of my life trying to keep my shadow stuffed down in the dark, and boy, do I have a long way to go. It seems like, lately, I start making changes, then all my plans seem to get shut down by external forces. More likely it's 'fate', and they're internal forces externalizing themselves, ha ha. I'm not even really sure whether or not I've 'started' sometimes. Other times I feel like I'm well on my way, that I've got enough momentum to carry me all the way through. It's frustrating, but I'm not giving up, because now I understand my life depends on the choices I make next, and if I don't make progress, I'll be doomed to do this all over again. I guess if you don't know where to dig, just pick a spot and start digging, right? Still, I can see the light through the darkness, maybe more clearly than I ever have. It's distant and dim, but it's there. And this time, I think I'm getting closer. Thank you, Elson.

Thank you for the wonderful comment, SpaceGoat. I completely relate to what you've written. You're very-self aware and I think your comment captures very well Jung's thoughts on the shadow. Jung says that integrating the shadow (and the process of individuation) is a life-long journey that is never fully complete. But we move closer to wholeness and become more of who we are, and it's the adventure of a lifetime. I appreciate you, Space Goat. As always big love to you and yours

Your reference to evolution being a spiral is exactly right as I see it. It’s the same as any recovery or growth....I think of it as a wheel moving forward. Until a person has truly achieved a thing on the wheel it rolls around again always moving forward regardless...if you stick with it your life will change, transform, with more will, a different perspective, a truer character.

Epic video Elson, and such an important topic for all of humanity. Stories really are of vital importance, on the personal level, but also all the way up to the macro level of defining entire cultures. I think this is why stories like the Ramayana still define Indian and Dharmic civilization for billions of people to this day, thousands of years later, and why in modern times stories like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are so important to many people. The Dark Knight is such an awesome movie, really transcending the superhero genre and my favorite of Nolan's works, and I really liked your take on the Batman vs. Joker dichotomy, and what they represent on a thematic level. It's a very interesting perspective that the big difference between a hero and villain is how they respond to their life traumas, and the story they tell themselves afterwards. Having cared for so many patients with depression and chronic pain, it really does seem like trauma is the underlying cause behind most forms of mental illness, and it really is one of the major factors holding back human civilization, and I think that thus it's a really important civilizational goal to develop systematic and effective ways of healing trauma, and also, as you said, to alchemize it into positive redemption. I really like the way you integrate both psychology and spirituality in your vids, and in a lot of ways I think that much of the purpose of this game of life is for the divine part of you to overcome the darkness of this world, like Batman, rather than adding to the darkness like the Joker. Keep up the awesome work Elson, I think part two is probably going to be even more epic! Also I have to agree with your take on Freud, I always found him a little overrated lolol.
@ModernIntuitionistАй бұрын
I always love reading your comments, Jonathan, as you know. It's interesting that you bring up the idea of defining entire cultures through story. Because Dr. Dan McAdam's "Redemptive Self" book also explores the cultural story of America is also being one that was founded on the redemption story. It's a pretty good read, if the topic interests you (note: he also devotes a chapter to critiquing the dichotomy of Contamination sequence vs. Redemption sequences and goes through possible criticisms, although I don't find those criticisms to be particularly strong). I also love reading your insights from your time as a physician and caring for patients, and seeing trauma first hand. I agree with you that we desperately need systems for healing trauma since much of it seems to be generational and occurs in cycles. I appreciate you for being a healer of the body, and also the spirit, and an overall force for good in the world. I hope you keep up your amazing work as well, my friend. Take good care

Thanks so much, Sukhwinder. I have experienced heartbreak. It's incredible painful. Healing from it is a difficult journey and feels like a kind of death (because in many ways it is), and we have to grieve the loss of that person as well as the future we imagined with them. I haven't sat down and consolidated all my thoughts on this (usually I find writing about my experiences to really help process them). But here are some initial thoughts on how I dealt with mine and you can take whatever works for you: 1. Is the relationship really over? Is there a way to make amends or to forgive so that relationship survives? Is that something you both want? Only you can answer this question. 2. If the relationship really is over: I've found it easiest to heal by not having anymore contact. I let her know what she meant to me and I wish her well, but during the healing process we can't be what we were to each other anymore. Love is wanting what's best for that loved person, even if it means a painful separation from them. There's a part of me that will never forget the times we had; they remain a part of me always. So for every relationship I've had, whether it works out or not, I do feel that the experience was 'meant' for me. This person was an intimate part of my life, and I've learned things that would've been impossible to know otherwise. 3. Take care of yourself. As much as you can, try to eat well, try to get enough sleep, and do some kind of exercise that you find fun/enjoyable. Easier said than done when you're going through heartbreak. As I mentioned earlier, I process a lot of my experiences by writing about them. Journaling is a big part of this. But you should also reach out to people in your circle: family and friends who can give you support. Depending on where you live there may also be free counselling resources that can help you process what you're going through. Everyone goes through heartbreak in their own way, but I promise you it will get better. The human heart is incredibly resilient and strong, and so are you. Big love to you and yours my friend. My best wishes to you as you navigate your healing journey.

What if there were more content creators like Modern Intuitionist on YT instead of all the click baty crap that's a minute and a half. I really wish there were more content like this where you can really sink in deeply and feel inspired and curious. Can't wait for the next episode.
