Honestly, I don't know why Kingpin is still even trying. Like you got 3 vigilantes on your back everytime you do shady shit, two of them are superheroes, and one of them is definitely more than willing to kill. Even without Punisher, Spiderman and Daredevil always end up stopping him. By that point, I think retiring is just the best option.

The worst fancy layout thing I've had to deal with was the Maze scene in Court of Owls being read in guided view on Comixology. Instead of them flipping the original images around to read correctly I had to spin my f'n computer every few panels, jesus that sucked.

Shotgun is a villain introduced in daredevil 271 (also drawn by John Romita) as a mercenary hired by a guy who runs a farm breeding animals that are to be slaughtered for food. This is right in the middle of the Ann Nocenti run.

It kinda hurts to see Pat Mills' writing dismissed so thoughtlessly. I think a little more research might at least put things into perspective when you read these books. I don't think I can really DEFEND Punisher 2099. (partly because my collection start with issue 2) but I do have to admit I like it better than regular punisher. Regular Punisher is just not a fantasy i can enjoy -- it's pure right-wing power fantasy. The rambo fantasy about shooting everyone and exacting your own justice. Pat Mills and Tony Skinner took that fantasy and crafted the only kind of world where Frank Castle (or in this case Jake Gallows) might make some sort of sense. The extremes to which they have to push the world to make the Punisher concept at all acceptable is a kind of commentary on the entire concept of vigilante justice. Jake Gallows is a HORRIBLE person, but he's also EXACTLY the sort of person his world would produce. It doesn't make it a good comic -- I know that -- but I think it gives it an extra level of substance that the Punisher often lacks. Frank Castle is as horrifying a monster as Dracula or Doctor Doom. I like that Punisher 2099 runs with this and just makes Jake Gallows BE that monster. --Andrew S. (The other comics I haven't read... but I can't deny that JR jr is a way better artist than Tom Morgan.)
