One minute is not enough time to discuss this issue.

Which is why you might want to press the link to the longer dharma talk about it. This was intended to be a short - to send people to the whole talk - but I now know how to do shorts. Please excuse my learning curve here.

Hello my friend Shinzen. Thank you for teaching and I really like your choice in how to speak about it.

Yeah, I also see this as an issue of the level of superficiality that mindfulness is being proffered in our culture. I know someone who's a professional mindfulness consultant who gets regular consulting and speaking engagements and from discussion with them it appears that it's not anything more than a philosophical way to interact with the world and a series of thoughts about thoughts. That's not to say that it's inferior or bad. Like Shinzen has said elsewhere: as long as there's resources available to people to help them deal with issues when they arise then more exposure is probably a good thing.

Push-back is good. Buddhism could have done with a lot more push-back over the millennia that would have improved its success rate. Now, it had better learn to deal with these challenges, because AI and neuroscience are about to steamroll Buddhism unless it can _really_ push back, and not just push back, but integrate.
