Wonderful video. Skeptical about how much easier it is to break through physical pain even with considerable powers of mindfulness, I cite Adyashanti who has the same medical condition I do and is significantly more practiced. But I have spent countless hours especially in the evening holding nevre pain in awareness and once it gets to a certain point it sure feels like something deeply primal kicks in to do something about and is just awash with ego's aversion. There is no catharsis. Just a neural cricuit that is so ancient our considerable powers of attention cannot override or change their effect on us.

1 Sounds like no description of what his experience was at all. 2. At 6:11 he talks about his non-preference for the non-dual state vs. experiences with the ego. Yep, exactly this!!!

The challenge is to a westerners ear, the deity is subconsciously related to some god like figure, and automatically imbued with dualistic characteristics. So much of the difficulties in presenting vajrayana to a Western ear is how does one find a way to circumvent the Abrahamic programming. You can practically see all the misconceptions forming in the mind of the lady in real time in this video. So far have not seen anyone able to do it. So many Westerners already teach an interpretation coloured by their dualistic upbringing as opposed to the actual thing. In Buddha dharma, deities are not gods or goddesses but the Tibetan word yidam. Being a goddess or a god doesn’t qualify one to be a yidam and a human being can be greater than a God if they are awakened to Buddhahood and the God is still stuck in duality. And ultimately, you are not just ‘becoming’ the yidam, as important as becoming it is dissolving it. But the latter part always gets left out of the convo. Yes, there is an identification process happening if you want to call it there but the yidam is ultimately shunyata. Without an understanding of shunyata, deity practice not becomes self defeating but becomes an ego boost. This is why they say tantra is balancing on the edge of a razor blade. So many points where your practice can lead you further from as opposed to closer to awakening. And this is why guru is so essential. They can catch you and rebalance you before you fall and cut yourself. Anyone trying to practice vajrayana without a guru needs a humility check and also does not truly understand what vajrayana sadhana and practice entails and what the point of it is. Because if they did, they would definitely not want to attempt it alone. 😅🙏❤️

Lives, like leaves scattered by the wind, form fleeting patterns. Patterns come and go. The world itself, like our ever-shifting thoughts, is shaped by impermanent forces. Yet, beneath it all lies awareness, free from form and limitation. This pure awareness, untouched by suffering, is the essence of love and awakening. It's the ground of your mind. It's eternal. This is what you may begin to experience.

Be the Host every where you go. Had a shit day. Didn't even feel the will to fight or transcend the "meh-ness" in the head and heart and all that. And then this video appears in my recommends, and I listen to it and like ah, as sometimes is, it is a gift perhaps to tell me about mastering situations no matter how "meh". But I didnt expect him to not only talk about seeing all situations (with a focus on the challenging ones) not only as a fellow traveller from the same source. But as the....same as you. Enlightenment. He moved seemlessly right at the end into self dissolving, and then directly being the other. Damn. I did get what I expected, but then he went above and beyond and then in an instant reached escape velocity of the world which that itself was in, on into space and beyond. That was something. See through the situation by not being there...

@@Raynaputi Awesome! For me it didn't hit imidiately. Actually, now that I think about it, I often utter by myself the lines of: "I will forget again. I will always forget." When Im in a spiritually high state. A state of happiness, most notably. And I recognized what shinzen had said in this video when I was in a hightened state, at my bathroom floor, and I had to find it again to hear him say it. That's when I made the comment. But as of writing this now, I haven't twelled upon my usual sufferig mind, even though Im not in a hightened state. Maybe I learned something in that moment. I can't recall accurately, but this feels signifact. Like guided to come back and see your comment and to think about that moment again.. yeah, good stuff :D 🙏 to you

This comment that I am dropping here is a response to Shinzen and Bernardo on the MU KZbin channel: This week Rupert Spira, with Simon Mundie, asked why did the Copernicus Revolution happen so slowly and of course the answer matches with the obstacle all practitioners like Shinzen Young face, and that answer is that religious authority is maintaining the very mental filter that needs to be changed. It is not an obstacle that any set of individuals cannot overcome, but it is an obstacle that stops a critical mass of the human population from becoming practitioners. Fusion is not wrong, it is already true. If you put mysticism on one end of a spectrum and science on the other, what you have in between continuously at every increment is psychology. This is just a rehashing of an old argument that prohibits pure physicists from doing engineering and being engineers. Engineers don't work alone, and that is why practitioners of the awakening traditions will form networks where they will work together. This may be an evolution of the tradition from working alone, to working within monasteries, and to working in professional networks. The goal jus like with physics is not to abandon the purest forms of research, but to find success as an applied science. Psychology is science and it is also an application of pure traditions of total awakening. But if the Copernican Revolution is still happening today for psychology in the same way that it has already happened for the rest of science, then by replacing the earth for the sun as the center of the solar system this should enable us to see how an old division between earthly truth and universal truth is replaced by a new division between solar system truth and universal truth. What am I talking about? Well it shouldn't come as a surprise that all geologic, chemical, and biologic formation of earth was under the influence of the frequencies of the planetary motions being broadcast like a radio station during the evolution of every wave and particle we have empirical evidence of including our own subjectivity, except for what empirical evidence we have from what evolved outside of the solar system. There is a split between universal and solar system that can be placed on two ends of a spectrum with infinite gradations between; and since the universal laws of nature preceded the laws of nature generated by the solar system, there exists gradations of overlap where an objective truth about the nature of the solar system may is also found to be true outside of the solar system. For example, I presume the laws of gravity and light exists outside of the solar system, but laws of certain molecular structures are unique to the solar system. The same distinction can be made for our experience of enlightenment where pure traditions like non-duality and Buddhism and any tradition that succeeds in the experience of total dissolution of the ego into total awareness, is outside of the solar system, and where more "applied science" or practical traditions like shamanism, channeling energies, psychic mediums, telepathy and so on, is within the solar system. There is overlapping too, like the possibility of perceiving outside the solar system, but still not a total dissolution of self into total awareness. On the spectrum between psychology and traditions of total awareness there exists infinite gradations of overlapping of what is uniquely generated within the solar system and that which is not unique because it is true everywhere in existence outside of the solar system. The first step requires humans to accept the truth of the total awareness. All of the traditions where their practitioners succeed in touching something outside of space time do so using reason. For this reason I suppose that all of the major religions including Judaism, Christianity, Muslim, and Buddhism are examples of humans attempting to teach each other how to use reason to reach the same experience. From an evolutionary biology perspective, a significant portion of humanity, since we are all connected, were simultaneously feeling the effects of large numbers of the global population developing their capacity to reason; reason is the only way to experience what preceded existence that resulted from the solar system and this was the first time humans had done so. All versions of monotheist God are attempts to represent, and teach the experience of total dissolution of ego into total awareness without space time. The 2nd step requires humans to accept that their version of God that comes from their version of religion, is this total awareness. Psychology literally, can't proceed without this because psychology is moving into the territory we previously gave to religion, but was that not true for Astronomy during Copernicus' time? What I am interested in is not gods, energies, spirits, or perception of future events, but is in whether awakening beings are able to transmute the trauma (self-hate) in their own lives. Even though their life is an illusion, could they just do it anyways. From my own experience with psychotherapy it requires going back to the trauma over and over until the intensity of stored emotion is gone. The reason why I asked this is because of how current modern ethics are at an energetic level since it is having the capacity to have empathy which is an emotion. This seem to be a natural human state when there is an absence of the emotions that result from trauma. (In case, I have made some mistakes in my language, I presume that space-time existence expands towards total awareness like approaching an asymptote line. As Shinzen says, all trained mystics will touch the asymptote for a few milliseconds and return to space-time, a hundred times a day.) In case you are wondering why some academics cannot repeat my process, here is my process: I am always starting from a place where I am trying to predict the future. It began for me when I thought Canadian cannabis legalization was going to be a gold rush or at least a boom and bust, and I was trying to predict what would boom and trying to predict when I should sell. Of course I lost all of my money and have been obsessed with my loss ever since. I grow marijuana but I don't consume it because I get scared. I started commenting on KZbin to promote USA federal legalization to calm my emotions about my lost money, which lead to this. Over this time I have had the fortune of being shown how alcohol negatively affects my ability to construct insights useful to others. In my experience, my clarity in predicting the future happens after 14 days without a single drop of alcohol and even NA beer would cause me to have to start counting days again.
