I'm glad to see Stephen waving the VTES flag here! Granted, they're doing away with the randomized products making it more an lcg than a ccg now. And anyway, it's much a lifestyle game for me that the transition hardly mattered, as I'm assuming the same with Stephen.

Removing the random element and “pay to win” is a great improvement. Combined with the allowance of proxies and the threshold for entry is very low. Lackey also makes it possible to get games if you don’t have friends. I’m so glad I can still play, I was sitting on cards for a very long time…

VTES is OFFICIALLY supported. There is a company (Black Chantry Productions) that has the license and which has produced over a dozen new products (which are available also in French and Spanish, plus licensed Portuguese right for Brazilian market. Heck, there are even few sets available in LATIN!) and has made majority of older cards available via Print on Demand (currently available through PoD service located in USA and recently also in Europe). The new cards have, as whole, been better balanced than the old WotC/WW era card and the number of overpowered/ wallpaper cards has been minimal.

Ah, as a whole the game has banned like merely a dozen cards since 1994. And old 1994 deck concepts still, for the most part, tend to work.

Lastly, the playerbase is extremely affable and international tournaments are just a blast with amazing camaraderie!

@@Lonkka665 and some of the cards that were banned were because they were kind of absurd (Madness of the Bard) or messed the whole table up (Dramatic Upheaval, Kindred Restructure).

@@Palocles Sir, I've been with the game since Day 1 of 1994 and also handled the duties of National Coordinator for over 10 years. This is not news to me... ;)

The 90's had a bunch of good to great CCGs - Middle-Earth, Netrunner, Star Wars, Star Trek 1st edition (this one had some problems), Legend of the Five Rings (Clan Wars era), Deadlands: Doomtown, Legend of the Burning Sands, Babylon 5, and obviously a ton more but Vampire: The Eternal Struggle is one of the best and severely underrated (they hardly covered it in Scrye and InQuest for example). I heard Shadowfist is another good multiplayer CCG but I've never found anyone who plays it.

VTES rules!

I liked that V:TES got an shout out. I started playing the game after 2010 and I really enjoy the mechanics, themes and accessability. I pondered to give Flesh and Blood a chance after a Legends of Runeterra player switched over to it, though I got scared off by the actual need for booster and trying to get the good cards. Sure, a very good player can beat a player who doesn't know what to do/how to play their rare cards, yet if it's two very good players matching at each other and one got a cheap deck and the other one not, the cheap deck one will lose.

V:TES is great! It’s just a shame that it’s so overshadowed by Magic and Poki/GiOh. The depth of play is amazing. I can pick one star Vampire and make a deck half a dozen different ways for him. Timescale is a bit of an issue, especially for people who haven’t played yet or are short on time, like so many of us are, but you can easily choose decks which will keep the time down. When you’re in the game though, you don’t notice the time passing.

I've a starter deck of Flesh and Blood but haven't opened it 😢 played a few Dice Masters and ECGs but not too many

Gonna side with Matthew. Dice Masters was super-fun, though I haven't played it in a while. I tried Flesh and Blood for a while, trying to get into it-and eventually just gave up, not finding it fun at all. The turns are so grueling and unsatisfying, and "starting with everything and having it break over time" is WAY LESS FUN than "building up and getting stronger." Never played LotR (love Marty & RDTN though!) or Vampire. Neither is appealing at all to me. My pick is the classic Magic: The Gathering. I love card variety, so there's no way to beat 30 years of expansion content. Runner up… Magi-Nation.

TCG is/was copyrighted by Wizards of The Coast. The generic term is CCG. Just how FFG has LCGs, but the generic is ECG (expandable card game)
