It's a talk for a general audience of physicists which gives a historical overview of the subject. If he went hardcore, 90% of the audience wouldn't follow, which is unfair on the audience who have given up their time to be there.

Well i love the Knowledge of Prof. Weinberg. But to create Creativity you must change things inst a solution to set all Knowledge in one room and hope there will find a solution for our Problems. Scientist are not setting new think patterns thats need for new development that only natural .First you must .Scientists need to understand how creativity works, otherwise there is no progress in since. I am not a particle physicist, yet I wish I had seen this video 10 years ago. It is spellbinding. However, I think Nima must have seen it and I would very much like to know what he thought after seeing this video, his comments. Nima's theory of amplituhedron is very interesting. So is Dirac's dimensionless formulation of the laws of physics. The take away from this video seems to indicate that SUSY will provide a renormalized Standard Theory leading to Grand Unified Theory, in line with Dirac's dimensionless formulation.

If I wish to convey meaning, I must decide what level of description or resolution I can consider sufficient. Truth, in my opinion, contains the least amount of dynamic association within any particular description and I am not able to completely control the amount of fluctuation the recipient will encounter as the levels of description increase and the recipients ability to visualize the picture I have attempted to construct decrease. There are no perfect symmetries, there is no pure randomness. the mechanics are not random, they're fractal. Think of a tree growing in a box with the inside surface of the box as the place where we will register the probability of the tree eventually touching after growing for a period of time. Roughly speaking any portion of the surface has an equal chance of the tree touching it but only some portion or percentage of the surface will ever include the tree. Now replace the box with an onion type, container, where each cycle of time includes both a portion of growth for the tree and another layer for the onion. The inside surface of this onion now includes a new probability distribution where each new layer is dependent on the previous layer and each new layer has a finer resolution with more degrees of freedom but not infinite degrees of freedom. The center of this structure had few degrees of freedom and the final layer has the most degrees of freedom. The outer layer of the onion would not be a perfect sphere, it would be more like a fractal surface such that the surface area would increase with the resolution. Our universe, the universe we can see is the tree like structure and the onion is the probability space.

@@123tominator007 There is no such thing called a fundamental building block, as Heisenberg noted "...The world thus appears as a complicated tissue of events, in which connections of different kinds alternate or overlap or combine and thereby determine the texture of the whole. In the Tao of Physics, Suzuka declares "Buddhists have conceived an object as an event, not as a thing or substance". Nima is an atheist, but thinks Anthropic nature of reality. The QF might self-simulate intelligent conscious 'observer', collapsing the field into fine tuned particles/strings, creating the universe eliminating randomness or chance creating life with perfection and with probability one.

As I understand there are different fields of attraction and repulsion. Those fields has noticable effects too.For example a Magnet has its own magnetic field in which the magnet attracts or repel other magnet depending on poles.also attracts only magnetic substances like Iron etc. My question is What are element or elements in magnet ask magnet to create such field of force , how? Similarly those questions goes to Electrical field and gravitional field. Now we know strength of field from particle physics in gev or mev. In reality what are those?

Your ideas may take more concrete shape as space and time are quantized. Weinberg's conjecture of inflation ceasing may lead to Penrose's cyclic big bang.

Math, symbols, and words are not adequate tools to explain reality in a finite time. These tools are linear, one has to write, read and understand them line by line while reality consists of millions of variables, facts and events happening at once. Thus, descrption of phenomena like the emergence of life is impossible. What we may consider also a finished process may not be true such as the appearance of the Universe which is still happening. The real mystery is right under our own skin and is how do we ourselves create the sensations which we call light, and even the sensations of separateness from the universe which is a mere illusion as we are part of it, nay, we are all of the universe. My heart and brain are as much part of me as the Sun the Milky Way and the entire Universe. There are no separate events.

When he says that the theory makes mass minus one magnetic moment and therefore makes the theory non-renormalizable. Feynman's renormalization of course takes into account all possible paths and even positive infinities and negative infinities, but not minus one; right? Because minus one actually contributes to the correct answer.

It would be better if our base reality is like this: Liquid Crystal Space -- Bottom-Up Universe Thought Experiment.. Colloidal Crystal Multiverse Constraints: 3D, minimal base rules + parts. No singularities with the infinite possible Like charges repel, unlike attract. -ve ether balances close-packed +ve lattice cells 1 Cell volume of Ether -6, Cell +6. Pulls 6 opposites to light speed in 1 cell length Escape velocity = light speed (C) tied to the constant time light takes to move between cells Tunneling: stretched, faster than light front, light speed or slower rear Tunneling cells form in phase extrons+holons that often annihilate to regular='empty' lattice Tunneling particles reform elsewhere and their original space 'heals' as regular empty lattice Particles: Inflows repel. 6 equatorial and 2x3 polar flows (-6 if poles flow in, +6 if out) Extron: extra cell compresses the lattice, pulls in ether that repels as rays Holon: ether-rich lattice hole stretches the lattice, pulls in cells that repel as rays Dipolons: extron + holon.. Diextron: +ve + -ve extron.. Diholon: +ve + -ve holon Junkons: lattice chunks/holes heal to in phase extrons+holons and/or/then empty regular lattice 3D polar flows are more concentrated than flat equatorial flows so effect particles more Moving extrons push cells that -ve ethereal space behind pulls in with an inertia-providing kick Particles make lattice and holon flow waves that can interfere and alter a particle path Strong gravity may force (some) particle outflows to repel back to its inflows in various patterns Charge / Entanglement: -ve inflows, +ve outflows. Polar flow count. Lattice, holon, extron charge Close flows attract or repel, regional gravity fields affect velocity and direction Holon charge flow is one unit so changing spin/flow direction or cutting it effects it all at once Dipolon / Matter-Antimatter: Gravity shrinks cells, lowering phase difference resolution Close out of phase extron+holon pairs form dipolons, in phase annihilate and radiate excess ether A feeding black hole's core extrons+holons are forced in phase and annihilate. A universe grows Black Hole Universes / Recursive Conformity: Big Bang = black holes colliding and merging Pressure compresses extrons+holons, gravity blurs phases, vibes stop at light speed. Annhilation Total energy and matter potential is conserved. No fine tuning, universes follow the same rules Level n +/- particle lattice fields or cubic lattice of joined holons (+ free particles) feasible Mass / Gravity / Dark Energy: lattice charge balance, charge inflow, entanglement, universe shell Mass is (the number of) out of place lattice cells. An object's extrons + holon charge flow Mass pulls ether pulls mass. Lattice vibes up to 1 cell radius and light speed effect matter Outflows bounce in all directions, inflows lead to the center. Outflows tend to join inflows Mass uses up ether so void cell repulsion increases. Open universes expand, closed shrink matter Universe grows, shell thins, excess ether radiates, lattice expands. Shell gravity cancels inside Photon / Light / Time: relatively quantum.. lattice compression-expansion blobs ripple holon flows Lattice shock wave. Compressed, +ve mass/charge front and stretched, -ve rear. No mass overall Holon charge flow has mass, transverse waves concentrate it. 2D adds effective area Moves between cells in a constant time (+ universe expansion) as denser lattice takes more energy Gravity shrinks and acceleration compresses the lattice so both absolutely slow light locally Units shrink too and acceleration slows kinetic processes so vacuum light speed measures C locally Velocity stretches kinetic processes in time as they travel more to complete. Clocks run slower The Standard Model: the possibilities are numerous. Some SM particles may be junkons

According to Google Translate: "Very nice, Steven Weinberg". Personal note: What a great time we live in when I can translate language with a mouse click. I hope that yesterday's religions (those that are based on the threat of eternal suffering) will be replaced by today's science (based on the hope of a happier life). And I hope that yesterday's wars (fought with bombs and propaganda) are replaced by today's wars fought with logic and hope). Is that all just pie-in-the-sky?.

To make the Math-Philosophy statement he is positing; In another video, Professor Weinberg remarked on the effectiveness of mathematics and the extraordinary accuracy of particular measurements, ..which implies that the universe is pivoted on a precise infinitesimal, .dt infinitesimal instant of time, because measurement is active calculation of time duration probability and indicates the existence of the universal wave-package. An alternate identification of the wave-package is "QM-TIME Field". So it's (quantum) logical to calculate particular values in terms of the Quantum Fields Mechanism in Temporal Superposition-unitarity, the Universal wave-package. And the modulating cause-effect of naturally occurring rational constants in irrational continuity "imprint" the dynamic stasis of structural relative-ratio time-duration differential forms on the observable universe.

QFT can self-simulate conscious observer turning the field into particles, just like phase transition of non-life matter to life, then intelligent design, fine tuning, even divine purpose, all will make sense.

Ha ha ha.. this talk brings temidos me when I got my first quality microcope which could enlarge things up to a thosand times. A beautiful picture in a magazine became only dots of flat colors and b&w photos a series of black and white dots without the unitial meaning. Even red blood cells rushing inside arteries inside frogs became rivers in a universe ofl its own. As we poor creatures try to descend into the essence of matter and reality, I am afraid things will not bevome clearer but more mysterious and incomprehensible. So far with our most powerfull instruments we found that the dots and billlard balls disappear and our equations and measurements are perhaps like microscopes which are precise yet accomplish the opposite of understanding the big picture and takes us inside another universe which is man made, much simpler and has nothing to do with reality, in Einstein's words.
