I always cry with the Daida-Hiling-shouting-and-calling-each-other scene. Maybe it's because I lost my own mom, idk but always makes my eyes water no matter how many times I've watched it.

I’m pretty sure it’s normal but I always tear up at the scenes where Hiling is learning sign language. Learning someone else’s language just to communicate better with them is an intensely compassionate thing to do. I’m sure you’ve all seen videos of people talking to another in their language unexpectedly only for the person to light up immediately forming a connection. It’s like that Nelson Mandela quote; Talk to a person in a language they understand, it goes to their head. Talk a person in their language, it goes to their heart.

"I just love him" It's not a bad character motivator. The story works well, the motivation is clear, and it gives the character a wide range of moves. It poses a question for the viewer as to how far a given character can go for the sake of another. At the same time, asking the question where loyalty motivated by love ends. You got it there, Carson: the thing I liked the most about RoK is the fact that it doesn't underestimate you as a viewer. The anime does have some things I didn't like, but that fact alone made it very enjoyable to watch (and now, to watch others' reactions and theories). I think that, to this point, even you noticed there are a couple of things that you missed here and there (like the "conveniently crazy guy" Bojji found). Hope to listen to your thoughs on many things to come!

I think he strike that dog to see how it compared to Dorshe. Dorshe can handle his attack, that's why he can trust him to protect the Queen against the weaker monster, and he killed one because he know Dorshe will survive if he go againstt 3 monster instead of 4

1:16 I don't know what religion persists in Ranking of King's storyline but I will guess it's Christianity since the Japanese authors always make Christian symbolism in many of their anime. So, not only nuns but Christians women have been wearing head coverings for centuries. It's just modern Christian women don't do it because it's not a forced rule as far as I know but head coverings are a thing in Christianity also.
