The Queen Rooster Knife and similar knives have been around for sometime. While they are not marketed as "Cock Fighting Knife" the makers of these knives have allowed the myth to persist. In reality the knives feature tools that are commonly used for maintaining healthy roosters and hens. More to the point the tools on the knife are not really the type of tools that would be preferred for cock fighting.
This video discusses some elements of cock fighting, a blood sport, that was once common but is currently banned in most nations of the world. It is for educational purposes and is not an endorsement of the practice. Some viewers might find portion of the episode disturbing. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.

I think I accidentally loaded this with comments turned off. But then again, KZbin may have turned of comments. If KZbin does turn off comments, I sort of understand. due to the nature.

Never thought of anything else than a classy European company My dad always said character is measured by how little it takes someone to get upset Cancel Culture proves my dear late father correct as they continually low the bar on character It takes less to get them aroused and to get them to pile on someone with every passing day God bless you

Well, I got a new wrinkle in my brain today. This was the first time I had ever heard of or seen this pattern, and I really appreciate all the history on it! Interesting stuff, my friend!

You were correct on all things considering caring for the roosters. Indeed better to saw off spurs then clipping and Capons are tastier then a normal rooster. I kept chickens for years and even chickens can have long nails to cut. Thank you Tobias.

I remember Capons were once popular for Thanks Giving and holidays dinners. There still raised, on a smaller scale. I have a farm 3-miles from where I live that sell them. There fed a diet of feed that includes milk oats, wheat and barley. The feed is the secret to the better tasting meat. However, they are smaller than turkeys in weight and cost more than either chickens or turkeys.🐔

I remember from the comics that Superman grew up on a farm. I’m sure he must’ve raised roosters for meat- he had a cape on 🤨

When I was young Cockerels were injected in the neck with a coponising gun banned a long tome ago, capons still for sale so I don't know where they come from.

This thing has/had me conflicted... it's so odd to me that I feel it needs to be in my collection. Yet I don't want to have to explain why. Amazed it sold out and quickly.

My feeling was the same until I actually looked into it a little. The thing is companies have made the knives, in the past, gave a wink and nod toward the whisper campaign of cock fighter knife to bring attention to a knife and increase sales. But when you look more closely it is simply a tool for rooster care and really wouldn’t be ideal for getting a rooster ready for cock fighting. For the most part it is to prevent harm to hens and roosters.

I'm wincing at the thought of that caponising blade 😓ouch! I could be wrong but I don't think the saw is anywhere near fine enough for it's intended purpose. A jeweler's coping saw is very fine indeed, despite being able to cut metal- the blades often break, which is why they are easy to replace. Interesting knives though, good conversation pieces🧐Thanks for the video sir.

I’m seriously thinking of picking up a spur saw just to compare the saw.

It’s a shame how this pattern has been so misinterpreted. I actually tried to buy one of these exact knives from CKW within the last few month(s) but they refunded my money and shortly later showed it as out of stock. I was primarily interested in the capability of the saw on there and like the novelty of traditional pocket knife with a hack saw on it. I guess still got the victorinox models with their saws on em to replace it for now. Wonder if queen will be releasing an American made version of this although it would probably end up being something beyond my price range I feel like.

I need to get one of these, they are so unusual looking with the saw. Hopefully a uk site gets some in stock. I could do my big toenails without resorting to the dremel.😍 Thanks Tobias. Jokes aside, this was really interesting, cool design in it's own way.

Quite interesting! I wouldn’t mind having one of these, now that they’re sold out. Lol. Maybe SMKW will have another run made in China - I wouldn’t spring for USA-made. I have chickens and guineas and could see it being useful.

My great grandfather had fighting cocks and hosted fights in his back yard , well in a barn in the back yard . From the stories ive herd everyone in town came to bet . Including the Mayor and chief of police. My grandmother told me that after I found a box of the tie on spurs . After your story I'm kind of horrified that he could do such cruelty.

Don’t just a past generation with today’s standards. You’ll hate everyone you ever admired. That may have been the only way your grandfather could find to support his family. Plus it was very much culturally accepted at the time. The one thing I’ve learned about history is the previous generations are condemned by the current one. Some day we will be the previous generation. Your grandfather may have also been part of the greatest generation that fought Nazi Germany and dazed the world.

Hi Tobias: Thanks for the link. I’ve been rooster spurred myself and I’d rather be bitten by one of my folding knives any day. Those spurs hit hard and can really do damage. There’s less chance of cracking or splitting the spur if it’s clipped in small increments rather than in one large piece. Capons are the way to go……they are really good. 🍗 😊

They're turned on here so far. Cool knives Tobias and even better history and explanation. Chickens huh? I am very lucky to have not had the pleasure of raising chickens. I do have a country-girl wife who a few years ago asked to borrow my pickup. Upon her return I saw that she had stacked two hundred cubic feet of chicken coops in the bed all ready for me to put together. They stuck out on both sides at least three feet. "We're gonna have chickens!" was her announcement. CHICKENS? "Oh crap" was my thinking...clucking, crowing wake-up calls at 4am, constant squabbling, cleaning up bird shit, attracting unwanted animals. Finally after much discussion, a trial run, and me giving her a copy of the book "City Chicks" which talked about attracting coyotes that was it, I found the answer, Coyotes. Around us we have foxes, pine martins, racoons, and several coyote families in the surrounding wooded areas and they occasionally take a backyard pet, we have backyard pets and we didn't need coyotes nor chickens. In testament, it was a close call, the chicken coops still stand but we have no chickens, no coyotes, safer pets, and quiet mornings. Chickens huh? 😅
