The man has left a legacy of things - not only is it a big shame on us as an society than a retired veteran can raise vital money for the NHS in his garden yet the government can't coax the 4th biggest economy in the EU into it without convoluting it with an expectancy of under payment, private involvement and un-neccecary death. @Ramming Speed no. Hero because despite getting over illness and being very old, he wanted to show his gratitude and selflessly raise that money when he didn't have to. He inspired others to do the same, even during the challenging times of 2020. He started something positive. If you don't think that, fair enough but I believe he deserves far more respect than you're currently giving him/his actions.

@G S thinking more about your comment , as well as having a very active war service dad was a talented artist making a good living from his art work , he was interviewed a few years back on our local radio station (radio mersyside ) about his life and was featured on local television when he was in the care home he was in having dementia , recently a book publisher offered to have a book written about him but my sister and I decided against it our thoughts were dad would not gain anything from it having passed on , not taking anything away from capt tom , fantastic thing he did at his age and condition but were any alterional motives involved ?

@G S thanks , about 25 years ago a guy from the imperial War museum came to his house and recorded him with his memoirs , they recorded plenty of other veterans RAF ARMY & NAVY about their experiences from the war , living history i suppose , recordings are available on their website I think , but I've got dads nice to hear his voice not spoilt by dementia , my son loves to hear it , he appreciates the sacrifices they made , just Google EDDIE SCOTT JONES RAF things should come up about him , thanks again

No, he was being treated for his pneumonia and they couldn't vaccinate him yet. Edit: Oh sorry, YT decided to not show me Hannah's comment so didn't know it was answered.

For me personally the captain has inspired the fact that age is nothing in front of will power and wanting to do something , iv always believed in life u are always learning every moment and can learn from anyone or anything. Thankyou Captain moore may you be at peace wherever u are x
