Truth. Until the AVP, Meta thought what they had was "good enough". Meta came up with the concept of spatial computing and VR being the next computing platform but had to wake up as Apple started eating their lunch. Too funny.

The AVP is like a ferrari when what you actually need is a good family car. The quest is more comfortable, can do more stuff, and cost less. AVP has persistense blur, lower field of view, higher weight, cant connect to your windows PC, no controllers, not good for gaming, needs a wire at all times and cost 7x as much, but has better UI and better displays.

I love what you are saying. AVP is like an overengineered piece of actually nice hardware, that has just no... well, vision. If you ask owners what they do with it, after the initial "playing around" people really put it aside or switch back to their old input methods. an in-between headset (basically a quest pro 2 that fixes the small problems with it) would be really good. And it's mainly the price where the headset "flops" for what it is. $3500 for something the quest can do (worse), is just not really a selling point. Especially that god damn external power box.

Not to mention how much more fragile the AVP is to bumps and knocks. I can see Apple refining the product over time, which only benefits consumers as it will push Meta to try harder to compete.

As someone who owns pcvr - quest 3 has made me love standalone and the amazing standard Quest 3 brings. All games with quest 3 optimisation looks stunning.. just makes me wonder how amazing a game would look if it was built from the ground up for quest 3 without it getting a patch bcoz its primarily a quest 2 game. My pcvr is colletimg dust atm. I have so many games on backlog... putting ao many hours into asgards wrath.. which i think is the best VR game ever made.... and it looks brilliant on the Quest 3..... seriously the Quest 3 is worth every single penny... does everything the $3500 apple headset does and much more... its made me love VR even more... and dont get me started in watching movies (3d is brilliant) and xbox cloud gamimg! So much to play so little time in a day

not being locked into the apple compatible prison, being able to use it with UEVR (unreal engine vr mod, free, makes unreal engine 4.8 or later games into vr games, including 3 and 6dof on able games, full camera control, etc), and pcvr already being a thing with desktop access to your computer's apps are already enough reason to go with meta's quest 3 over the vision pro. not to mention the cost. in the quest 3 you can already open up 3 ''windows'' in pc vr mode. however that doesnt work with pass through enabled so youre still in the vr void but nonetheless you can have your desktop screen open with your programs on it, and up two 2 additional windows like extended monitor screens. in vr.

When I had the Oculus Go, the UI was completely different. Over time it came to be what it is now and I'm very happy to see the way it is going. I like that most of the things I can do now in MR. I like VR in a game, but for productivity or watching my browsers, KZbin or movies, I like to have the option to be in VR or MR. The best thing about APV is that Meta is going to upgrade it's product and makes it more user friendly. Having handtracking combined with controller is a great idea. I like handtracking, but it is sometimes very annoying. It picks up too easy. Like when I'm watching a movie and it changes to handtracking mode, just moving my hand makes the screen move. That should not be so easily done. Any gesture should be activated by an extra instruction and not by mistake. One thing I can say about the VP is that it makes me excited again for a Quest4 with better resolution and maybe eyetracking. Meanwhile I enjoy the Quest3 so much that I'm spending over 3 hours a day in it: at morning doing fitness, evening often another half to one hour playing fitness games (like table tennis) and then watching a good movie. The picture quality in the Quest3 is much better (same size screen) as my home theater, which is pretty good in my opinion.

I truly believe a quest pro 2 could be the headset we have all been looking for. Meta has been given the green light to create a headset like the vision pro with all the features from quest now that the market viability is there. To give meta some respect they have been the only company taking the risk to see what works and now the vision pro is here it gives meta that breathing room to innovate further. I just hope to god they get better at marketing

From someone who has the quest to the quest three I had to quest pro but sold it because I like the quest three better and I have the Vision Pro I would say for 95% of the world the quest three is way better suited for you. The Vision Pro I’ve only used it a few nights and I think I’ve downloaded and did everything you could possibly do on it. Now in the future, it may get better but right now it has very few uses specially things that the quest three can’t do. I personally think the Vision Pro two will come with Controllers, and they will get rid of that screen in the front that probably cost consumers a grand and has almost no use. Let’s face it if they don’t get good games on Vision pro you’re only gonna have a small amount of people who needed to do work and it’s not even that comfortable. I actually find the quest three more comfortable. If you’re a tech junkie like me and you can afford them that’s a different story but mark my words right now there there is not much you could do with the Vision Pro like right now I’m going to use it and I’m probably gonna watch the same movies. I saw four times already and see what else I can do maybe try to edit, I’ll let everyone know how my real world review go soon. Hopefully I get my review up any day.

So I have a quest 2 an a Valve Index. I always thought my experience was far better in the Index. I spent a lot of time in the environments in my Index. The environments on the quest never were that exciting, it was just a launch pad for games. I'm holding out buying any new headset until someone gets the productivity right. I used Immersed, it was alright, but Apple seems to be the closest but I don't own any apple products besides a M1 mac mini. Can't even do the face scan. Games are pretty much there, my Index is good enough for games until the games themselves require a higher resolution, like I can't read text in the game and HAVE to upgrade. That's the advantage of PCVR, I can use a headset until the resolution isn't good enough I don't have to buy every new headset.

Gaming prediction. Immersed is great and the Prime app is a nice way of watching movies, but yes, when it comes to non-game applications it is lacking. The good news is this is something that can be fixed on the software level.
