Simply put, I wanted to stay in the wind and the Spyder was the answer. I do miss the great years of riding on two wheels but the season changed and I still have the great memories. I'm happy to be up on three!

I enjoyed the conversation. Whether you ride a two or three wheeler. You have to feel safe and comfortable on the machine. That's what I enjoy about my Spyder that my wife and I can both get on and feel comfortable and safe.

When I am asked why I decided on Spyder, my answer is, safety and fun. I've had mine for 3 weeks and fun is the metaphor I use to describe the feeling of riding a Spyder.

Good discussion! The main reason I went from 2 to 3 was the balance issue. Can Am is letting me ride into my 70s.

Coach Bob, you hit all the points as to why I am glad that I made my first bike a Can Am Spyder RT Limited. As mention before, I am 69 years of age and I was concerned about getting a bike that I would feel comfortable operating as well as safe.

As you may know I traded my Hardly Ultra in late March for a new RTL after 46 years of riding two wheels. In a month of riding salt and sand covered roads here in New York I've put over 600 miles on and I am loving it. This is my wife's 3rd season on her Ryker 900 and she is loving it too.

I’ve said it before, but my reasons for going from two wheel big HD to my Spyder were getting my wife involved in riding, physical challenges, and comfort while touring.

I got my Spyder at 70, so it was a no brainer. My last two-wheel experience had been walking away from a sputtering Ducati laying next to a dented parked car, circa '68. I've got 37k on my '18 RTL now, all with my lady's legs around me and the wind in my face. Yeah, no brainer...

All comments are true, I would ride a Goldwing again solo in a heart beat, but having a passenger feeling more comfortable, secure, relaxed WE ride a Spyder RT Ltd. Happy wife happy life. Keep up the great video's. 😎

Hi CB3, you are so dead on! A ruined left knee prevented me from getting my foot on a normal 2-wheel peg. After 5 surgeries and 2 years of rehab, I wasn't getting back on a 2-wheel. I sold my R1200GSA and bought a Tilting Motor Works Honda Goldwing Tour DCT. What an awesome bike! Unfortunately, it wasn't for me (I ride 2-up with my wife mostly) and it is still a big, heavy bike. It unlocked unexpectedly and dumped me. (someone with 2 good legs would have been fine). Fortunately, I was riding solo (practicing on it) and dropped it in a slow turn and was not hurt. I sold that and bought a 21 Cam Am Spyder RTL. I miss the acceleration and performance of my 2-wheelers - and, of course, the lean - but I love the stability and comfort of the Spyder - and am back on the road! My wife loves it so much, she got her 3-wheel endorsement! Now, it's rock/paper/scissors to see who drives ;)

My Ryker gave me a second chance to ride after MS cruelly took my option to ride on two wheels from me. So three wheels it is and I’m having a blast. Sure I miss two wheels, but I still have an awesome time getting the all important wind therapy and that’s what counts. Three wheels or two, we are still all brothers and sisters connected by the same passion. Ryde Safe Brother 🙏🏻😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I’m with you on life being cruel. And having to adapt. Before my surgeries I started being concerned if I was on a less frequently traveled road and laying my Goldwing down. I had a rotator cuff tear that didn’t give me much strength in that arm. At times I couldn’t ride two hands up. After my surgery things are better. Its always nice to know as I get older there is another option when I can no longer do two wheels! Hope the best for you in your quest for better health.

I am 64 years old. I have never driven a motorcycle. But I am retired. I wanted to try riding a motorbike. I considered myself too old to start on two wheels. I was a little apprehensive in case I fell and at my age it takes a long time to recover. In addition, I wanted to involve my wife in this adventure. I bought a spydeer rt limited 2020 and every time it is sunny, we take the machine out. Today 15 degrees centigrade (60 Fahrenheit) a little cold but with the sun. Okay . Without a spyder I would never have this kind of outing.

Great videocoach Bob,. I recently did a demo ride on a new triglide. Cool looking bik O-yes Love the Harleys had several when younger. Ease of riding compared to the Spyder- no comparison. Spyder much more stable I’d have to join the gym if I bought a Triglide. Love the look and the sound but give me a Spyder please. Stable- city and no engine heat problems and in the rain what a major difference . In the cold. Raise the shield and turn on the heated grips. Hope they get more and more popular. Easy to ride. One up I’ll still-ride my hrtatage #107 2020; my Heritage with the Harley group but enjoy there company also.

I started riding the Can-Am Spyder F3T. November 2019 after not completing the MSF two wheel course at age 67. Started riding a Harley Davidson Freewheeler Trike with a REKLUSE clutch June 2020 and replaced that clutch for a stock clutch March 2021. Last month I bought a 2019 Forty Eight. I agree with everything you said, Coach. The Spyder is fun, easy and safer. But man, I love riding my Harley Trike. The two wheeler has a lot more risk involved but I never dreamed of riding a trike. I'm taking the two wheel course again this month. I'll be keeping all of my bikes of course. The Spyder might be the only bike should be riding some day. But before that day, I plan to ride a Road Glide!

I own a 2 wheeler, a Harley trike, and Spyder and I agree with your accessment about the Spyder "feeling" the safest to ride - esspecially riding thru turns. I love how a 2 wheeler can lean, but things like gravel in the turn is on my mind. The Harley trike does well, but seems to "push" (want to go straight) due I think to the large rear tires and small front tire. But the Spyder "pulls thru" turns like it is on rails. Just saying.

Coach as always good food for thought. I am sure that Can-Am appreciates your view that the Spyder is not just for the old or physically challenged riders. While the Spyder does open the door for these groups of riders that would otherwise be closed, it is also a great option for, as you stated, first time riders and young couples. A strong factor in my decision for buying my Spyder was the sense of community I observed when visiting the bulletin boards, websites, and you-tube channels like this one. You have offered and provided your support to anyone who might need it. So it is partly your fault I was bit by the Spyder bug and now own my 2019 RTL. 😃 Seriously though thank you for the time, thought and energy you give to your videos. I really look forward to them each week.

I love my Goldwing but the only problem it limits where you can go. Case in point! We rode to the badlands in South Dakota and there was a loop all gravel mind you! And we couldn’t go faster than twenty and we didn’t get too far before we turned around for paved road. On the canam I could of rode fifty miles per hour and felt confident I wasn’t going to wreck

Personally I prefer two wheels! Mainly because I had.two wheels before only, but I have a balance problem now ( stroke on the left side) and I have a love of motorcycles. I like too get back on it! So the only way to get back on one is three wheels! Your talk today convinced be that I am making the right decision!

I really liked this video as it was spot on when comparing 2 to 3 wheels. I'm 65 years old and purchased a 2019 Spyder about 21 months ago so my wife could ride it on adventures while I rode my Honda CBR650R. Within 2 weeks of riding it and swapping out driving with my wife on the Spyder I determined I preferred riding the Spyder instead of the Honda. The main reason is that I felt safer on the Spyder and this is coming from someone that has been riding 2 wheels since my teens and have probably owned everything from a 60's Honda CB160, 1981 Suzuki GS1100 which it used to drag race, to Kawasaki Ninja's, and even a couple of dirt bikes. But now for a question... I have a friend who just had his full dresser Harley converted to to a 3 wheeler and he is having trouble turning the trike. We did a 2 day trip from the Phoenix area to Flagstaff on the back roads and back and he was taking 25 mph curves at 5 mph. Is the trike that much worse than the Spyder taking curves? I ask this in order to help him before we head out on a 9 day 2000+ mile trip in June.

First of all I'm not a expert rider but I am a experienced rider. Easley have 100,000 miles on two and three wheels combined. Many close calls have come my way. I was forced into the shoulder by a big rig coming at me head on. There was at least a 2" drop off the pavement. On my Spyder F3 Limited it was scary but I didn't come close to loosing it. Thanks to Can-Am I'm here to talk about it.

I think, being asked to recommend 2 or 3 wheels, I'd answer to do a MSF for 2 wheels to try it out. When I did my course, 12 participants started and 9 finished. Why? Because the instructors weeded out 3 people that were not capable to ride 2 wheels. Taking that approach offers to experience 2 wheels with very low risk and honest validation. If you don't like it, doing the MSF for 3 wheels is still and option. My wife decided to go for a Spyder RTS right away and I fully support her decision. She just loves her bumblebee lol Stay and ride safe, sir.

Loved the talk. I have a BMW RT and Love it, But with 2 knee replacements and one that bends better than the other, I have been looking at a CanAm. I do like the F3 models because of the way you can stretch out your legs a little better than you can on the RT, I am not a real long Long distance rider and most alway ride 2up. My Wife and i enjoy riding and do like the comfort of the CanAm. FInding one in my price range is another part of the action. Is there a better year than the other that I should be looking at? Would love any help I can get, Be Blessed my friend. Also Love your Faith and the way you spread the message.

I would make sure it has the 1330cc 3 cylinder ROTAX engine..2014 years and later. Also..the body style changed in 2020 so the 2014-2019 will probably be your best "bang for the buck". I wouldn't be afraid of anything that looks good and has less than 20k miles on it. Let me know how the search goes. Thanks for watching... CB3

After owning over 100 two wheel motorcycles and logging over 1.2 million miles I decided to go 3 wheels mainly for the added versatility it offers. I do a lot of back roads and gravel so 3 is much superior to a 2 wheel tour bike in loose gravel. So far 230k on 3 wheels and my other 3 two wheel bikes are barely ridden, in fact one is in permanent storage. I don't believe I will ever go back to 2 wheels and wish I would have built my trikes many years sooner. If you read all the info regarding the trends big bikes like HD are just going away. Young couples will buy the spyder over the HD, it make more sense and superior in virtually all situations. As far as a Goldwing vs spyder? I love my wings. I don't say trike I say SportTrike.

Coach… I have recently been watching your video along with Rolling on 3, Martin the blogger, and The Smoaks. I am on the fence with the Sounder and a reverse trike. I was wondering if you have ever riden a later model reverse trike (possibly a gold wing style to compare with RT). Maybe some of your viewers can chime in? Again, enjoy your videos and want to make sure I get questions answered before venturing to purchase. Thanks and stay safe!
