It really is a shame...Though, the last time they gave him attention in New 52, he wasn't the same character, so they even found a way to mess up giving him attention. I'm not sure what his status is in Rebirth, but I imagine it's not as good as he deserves. Seems like a shame that the show Arrow was willing to borrow Batman and Titans characters, but never saw fit to spotlight Question, despite the two having actual history together.

The Question started at Charlton Comics, until it went bankrupt and was bought by DC Comics. In New 52 they made him more of a magical character, but it didn't work, then Vic Sage became the new boss of the Task Force X/Suicide Squad program which was weird, but when Rebirth happend he came back as The Question again. He made some guest roles in Action Comics and Detective Comics, was part of an event comic/mini series called Event Leviathan, had his own series called The Many Deaths of Vic Sage and he had his own story in a detective anthology comic called DC: Crimes of Passion. Right now he's part of Checkmate, a spy organisation, which is still part of the Event Leviathan story...

'The question is not if I'm paranoid but am I paranoid enough' this is one of my favourite lines from The Justice League TV Show and he is one of my favourite characters. If they did a movie they'd have to walk a fine line if you go too dark too gritty you'd loose some of stuff that makes him such a fun character and the last thing the DCEU is another dark bleak gritty movie. I also worry about how the character will translate visually to live action. Then there is finding an actor will to spend most of his screen time faceless we don't want another Sly's Judge Dredd.

Justice league Unlimited Question is in is his own A tier. I've read the original question comics, I've read the new more supernatural line, and I've read the Trinity of original Sin line constantly looking for the kind of Question we got in JLU to no avail. The Question has always been written as a gritty street level crime fighter fighting some form of inner demon in the comics. JLU wrote him as a Batman level detective without the gadgets or infinite wealth and voiced him like a crackpot Chaotic Good small fish in a big pond Foil to the super heroes that flood the show. He had chemistry in the show like dropping Rorschach into the JLU that you will not find anywhere else.

@Caitlyn Carvalho First I have often felt Gotham try's to be too smart for it's own good and secondly that sounds more like something out of a Hellraiser movie combined with the tackiest type of virtue signalling rather than a heroic investigator. Of course this all has to do with rights issues. The question is an investigative journalist turned vigilante now he's always been more interested high level corruption than street level (lets ignore the runs where he is pretty much straight out evil) and unlike someone like Batman he doesn't have mega bucks and gadgets to back him up excluding the psuedoderm mask and some trick calling cards. So how does the Gotham one compare me I think less well than it could of but the Question has had several versions and his Suicide Squad and Trinity of Sin versions did wander away from the core character

I once asked my friends if they had an unrealistic dream scenario to make their dream movie, what would it be? I said mine would be to adapt the early portion of Dennis O'Neil's run on Question because even though I haven't read the issues proper, the synopses I read for them on a now-dead website were so enthralling; with the success of Joker, it seems like I'm not alone in wanting a more dour super-flick (that doesn't involve weird takes on Superman, Batman and Lex Luthor).

@Mr. J Ooh, gotta disagree. Rorschach got his esthetic from Question, but his personality was based on what Alan Moore thought someone like Batman would be like in real life. As cynical as Question gets, he still explores philosophies and sees things from other perspectives whereas Rorschach famously never entertained other views and was willing to die for it. Add to that Vic had a story arc where he didn't want to kill at first and it was a big moment when he finally did whereas the first thing we learned about Kovacs was that he kills people and I'd say the two are as similar as Spider-Man and Venom: Similar appearance and both hate crime, but wildly different approaches and outlooks. Q's series actually explored this a bit when he tried acting and interrogating like Rorschach and it didn't work out for him.
@JW666
@JW666 2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewschwartz6607 He didn't die in New 52, in New 52 they did two versions of the character - One were he didn't know who he was, he only had a faceless face & he became a magical character. It never got a real end because it wasn't a real hit. The 2nd one is were Vic Sage, without being The Question or a journalist, became the new boss of the Task Force X program in The New Suicide Squad comics. Which was pretty weird... When ReBirth happend, Vic Sage came back as The Question in an issue of Action Comics that lead to a new miniseries/event comic called Event Leviathan.

@@seantaylor424 Yes, though Rorschach is based on both The Question and another Steve Ditko creation called Mr. A. Mr. A had no problem with killing because of his objectivism belief - like evil is evil & good is good, there's no inbetween. The Question started as a less violent version of Mr. A, but became more zen in the Dennis O'Neil run.

The Charlton heroes were created by Charlton Comics in the late sixties before being acquired by DC in the early eighties.. They were actually going to be used by Alan Moore in WATCHMEN. However, since DC had just purchased them and had plans for them following Crisis on Infinite Earths, Moore created his own heroes for the series Coincidentally, Moore's creations were retroactively folded into the DC universe four decades later.

Including the "lacking a face" aspect which appears in one of the pulp stories the name of which is escaping me at the moment (this story also likely inspired the early version of the villain Clay-face) Edit: the name of the story is "The Red Blot" Other characters which were based on The Shadow: Batman (the first story is literally plagiarized from the Shadow story Partners in Peril) Darkman Mr. A V (V for Vendetta) Darkwing Duck The Silver Shroud Rorschach is tangentially inspired as he was a take on The Question

Interesting pitch for a question what if: vic sage as rorschach and renee as the question; by this i mean have both heroes be a detective duo with vic being the more grizzled objectivist veteran mentoring the zen renee montoya. Say vic was once a controversial investigative journalist for his strict ideals and black and white morality but was also known for afiery temper that got him i nto problems. Professor rodor contacts him for asistance on a case regarding his colleague dr twaine ilegally mass producing their experimental invetion pseudoderm a artificial skin esque bandage for medical application such as prothesis covering or reconstructive surgery. But the pseudoderm was highly volatile in open wounds and infected areas not to mention highly reactive when expose to certain chemicals. Twaine starts selling a semi perfected version to criminal organizarion from hub city to gotham, metroplis chicago detriot etc. Vic dons a perfected pseudoderm mask created by prof. Rodor after years of continued work refining the formula creating an aerosol solution than help counter act the harmful effects of pseudoderm as well as chemical altered the pygmentation of a pseudoderm laced fabrics cosmetics. Doning his new mask vic gathers enough evidence to have twaine arrested and criminal ring exposed with the help of new found allies batman, green arrow, blue beetle and young gcpd detective renee montaya who vic forms a partnership and later on mentorship as after years of crime fighting have taken a told on vic sage mind and his newly gained violent streak causing him tobe able to continue his work decides to semi retires entrusting the mantle to his protege and friend renee who becomes the question while vic continues to support her a the rorschach a mysterious P.I. rumored to be a conspiracy theorist working on a staged ww3 plot linked to powerful govemrment turned insaned homeless man that dons a mask of shifting ink blobs.

DC comics created a never-used villain known as The Answer/ Mike Patten who’d been an ideal villain against The Question.

Why were you guys using footage of Jack Ryder from the Batman The Animated Series episode "Beware the Creeper" towards the end of the episode? Did you guys really think we wouldn't notice? He had plenty of screentime and footage in Justice League Unlimited, why not use some more of that?

The question is the closest to the Batman. And I mean that intellectually wise. But I think batman would win because of how intelligent is. But the question is highly underrated.

As much as I would love to see a Question and Huntress series, the truth is the character would get ruined by today's writers... They would either go with the female version or the female gay version, and make the series a political agenda driven series and ruin it. He will just have to live on in our hearts.

Yes he did. During Dennis O'Neil's run, Question was on a bus that Riddler was holding up and had to confound him with philosophical paradoxes to distract him from simply shooting his gun. As Riddler was getting arrested, he explained that he delves in riddles to avoid thinking about those kinds of questions whereas Sage confronts them head-on.
