Ok, who has taken out an Sa-11 Radar; then forgot about them being able to launch without it and been shot down?
@Mojje422 жыл бұрын
only time i've been taken out by a SA-11 trying to SEAD the radar it's because it was firing at me at the same time not sure if this has been changed but when the radar is gone the launcher must face the threat or it won't launch.... leaving it vulnerable (but this could have changed)

I did that in a A10C back in the days when SEAD for nato was Mavericks.. Took out the SA11 radar and Strela's with mavs, then went in close with gps guided bombs. And ended up getting shot down by the Sa11 launcher as i was doing my 2nd bombing run :D

Can the individual launchers be destroyed with Harms after the radar is dead or just bombing?
@DCSChopsticks6 ай бұрын
@@bradule1980 HARMS will only lock onto a radar signal, so you will need to use rockets, bombs, guns or mavericks.

The launch vehicles can also be deployed on their own but need to be placed in reverse, eg point west to shoot east. This was the case with the MH17 shootdown for example. Unlike with a full battery deployment, single vehicles can only shoot at targets in front (of where the radar is pointing). They can be quite dangerous as you don't get the warning at distance as you do from a SR.

they will be behind the front lines, thats how you tell and assume where they are

Why does the music played in the background sound like something from either an infomercial or the Home Shopping Network? Love these DCS World shorts you upload in any case. Please keep them coming :)

reload for SA-11 15-16min.... all missiles must be reloaded before it can fire
@peberdah2 жыл бұрын
For better understanding stand-alone operation, could you circle the radar, operators dashboard zone, missile trajectory ie it's said that it plunge on target, nice animation thks.

I've never waited to see how long they reload for, but I find that they don't get a chance to before I can destroy them after dumping their missiles into the dirt.
@oldfashionedwrx3574 Жыл бұрын
extremely dangerous if used properly, theyll use awac or EWR or fighter jet data, then turn radar on last minute, good for SAMBUSH, im talking about the lone launcher with the radar on it. they will always be behind the enemy front line and if you use the same flight route into enemy territory. stand off counter them EXTREMELY EASY, for example glide bomb onto targets and ignore the BUK sa11s the SD set ups will be in strategic locations for sure its just an upgraded SA6, and SA17 is a newer SA11. then theres SA27 buk M3

Their ability to operate with launchers only at short range is always interesting for players new to facing them. But if you have take out the radar then a well placed JDAM will do for the launchers, or a dumb bomb if you are feeling brave 🤣.

Ok, how do I kill it, though? This wasn't especially helpful, nor anything that's not just listed in manuals :/

This is not a tutorial for how to destroy the site. You want a tutorial on notching missiles, using decoys or using iron hand tactics to overload the site. There are loads of different ways to kill them, depending on what you are flying.
