Hello James! So, back in the day, I learned to do the Rachael Cut very differently than what you just showed. Basically it was somewhat of a shag version. I find my guide like you did here (chin length) and cutting a center guide by lifting the hair straight up 90*s. The hair at the back top of guide would be shorter than the front top guide. Then, by splitting top guide in half, take vertical sections and pull straight out on sides (90*) vrs straight up. This creates more layers from the chin down. Basically around the bottom portion of hair, so that there is more length on top half of hair. I hope this makes sense how I’m explaining it! Lol! I still loved this video and tutorial on the cut you showed. I, personally, wouldn’t consider it a “Rachael” cut however. I guess I’m just agreeing to disagree if I may. Lol! I hope I’m not sounding offensive here. Just sharing on a different (not necessarily better) level of personal opinion. You are a PHENOMENAL teacher! And I truly appreciate your expertise. Your videos are still my #1 go to. Absolutely love you. 😁👍👍

@TheLifeOfHair4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do this with someone with a fringe and previously laid her I would say do the haircut completely as you saw in the video just ignore the fact that they have a fringe cut the fringe once you have completed the layers bobs your uncle 👍🏻

I loved it! Thank you. Would you recommend this haircut on a thin and fine hair client? Or would it be unflattering and accentuate whispy tips?
@TheLifeOfHair5 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely this haircut can be done on thin fine hair textures and I would suggest over directing it past the centre or there natural parting just to incur a little bit more concave to the shape fine hair textures to create more weight on the outlines 👍🏻😁

Hi James! This is sooo good!!! I too love long layers! I feel as though the way I’ve been doing long layers is good, but, it’s really nice to be able to change up a “normal” client request into something that’s a little different for both the client as well as the stylist! Good to keep it fresh. I have so many questions about cutting shapes, I don’t really know where to start... I suppose the biggest question is: 1) how many actual “shapes” of cuts are there. Clearly every shape can be altered and turned into something a little more different than how it started, but overall, how would you break down the cuts into subdivided categories? We’ve got “The Bob”, “The Short Layer”, “ The Long Layer”, etcetera etc... so many shapes... I get lost in how I should carry through the entire cut sometimes. Does this make sense?
@TheLifeOfHair5 жыл бұрын
Hi Face Up thank you very much, that is a wonderful question that I am going to make the whole video on hopefully next Wednesday/Thursday I will post a video where I talk about all the different shapes certainly the classics anyway. 😁👍🏻

Hi, my hair is around 2 inches shorter than the the doll head, so should I start my shorter layers at the nose instead of the chin.
@TheLifeOfHair4 жыл бұрын
Linda or you could do it like this yes absolutely to keep the ratio exactly the same however it is totally your call you could cut it slightly shorter than that even if you wanted to it’s really about how many layers you want to create round the front ✌🏻👍🏻
@laras26984 жыл бұрын
What about those who has 'widow's peaks' at the front hair line? When following these instructions and cutting with a side parting, a 'hole' appears close to the bottom of the 'heavier' front side, which is opposite to the parting side - due to the lack of hair bulk in the 'widow's peak'. How do you cut to conseal this please?
