In regards to the tendons thing, rama's leg tendon was not severed to a critical enough degree where it would have been physically impossible to stand at all. At that point, you just have to suspend your disbelief as to how he could still operate so efficiently in a fight with it (although the inner power associated with the martial arts style would explain his endurance...if you buy that sort of thing)

actually in the middle of the fight rama holding his knee,show that its really kind of injured him. i watched the raid 2, 3 x so i kind remember it.

One of my favourite action movies EVER , better than the first in any way!. Btw did you guys hear that Hollywood is making The raid remake . I personally fell that a remake is not needed as the movies are very fresh still , and am worried that hollywood is just gonna shit all over the franchise . What do you guys think about it ? Anyways GREAT review

One of the best action movies ever. Especially since it didn't rely on explosions or big hollywood actors. The director's original idea was the raid 2 but to get funding they needed to make the raid 1 story and sell the rights. That's why there's a remake.
@hisham0311709 жыл бұрын
ReactTo thisSHII The remake better be good. I'll watch if Jason Statham is the main character.

5:40 I got the official story of Hammer & Baseball #SPOILERahead “I have it. I have the story for her,” says Evans. “Basically, what we wanted to do is this: Baseball Bat Man and Hammer Girl are brother and sister. The way they got into that underworld is they suffered at the hands of an abusive father, and one night they just snapped and they both, in a weird fit of teamwork, killed him. Before the police got to the place, Bejo’s [the main villain of THE RAID 2] man had recruited them already, brought them in, took care of them, and then provided them with this place where they could grow up. But, it’s basically training them to become assassins that would just follow every command. I wanted to put that there’s something childlike about both of them. Baseball Bat Man is always like, ‘Oh, give me the ball.’ That’s such a child thing to do. For Hammer Girl, we did a moment where they’re about to go off and fight against Rama. She’s being dragged out of her chair and she reaches behind quickly to grab her Hammer. It’s like a kid thing.” via fangoria.com/new/the-raid-2-hammer-girl-gareth-evans-julie-estelle/ *****

***** I heard they're thinking of making a comic book for the Hammer Girl and Baseball Bat Man backstory. I would say, make a spinoff movie for them ! Fun facts :Very Tri Yulisman, the actor who plays Bat Man was in The Raid 1 as Drug Labs Guard #11. In real life, he is Iko's saudara seperguruan (silat school brother). The name of their silat teacher is Bunawar. Gareth uses the name for the good cop character in Raid 2. Sadly, the real Mr. Bunawar has passed away a year ago. Mr. Bunawar was also Iko's uncle. If you see Gareth Evans twitter profile pic, that's Mr. Bunawar's picture.

i cant even think of a movie I've seen recently that has this many likeable characters (good or bad). every villain is awesome, mad dog playing a different type of character was amazing and by the end rama seems like a new action movie icon. this director NEEDS more attention!

hey guys the reason that they still can stand after stabbed here and there is because in pencak silat which is the martial art used in the movie, they learn some kind of, i don't know what's the word in english, but if i translate it from Indonesia it's "inner power". You won't feel pain when you get stabbed, well it's still painful but it's not as painful as if you didn't have the inner power.
@farhanajamal10 жыл бұрын
totally second this opinion...it is a serious training, a bit like 'endurance' training and most extras from Raid movies are actual students from'silat' school, so they really know what they're doing, it's real action and not made up. and since I'm also doing medic, i just have to say this (out of medstudent conscience) you can't move if you feel the 'unbearable' pain... hence... if you don't feel the pain (as much pain as those without the 'inner power' strength) you definitely can keep of kicking all you want, until before you know it you tear tendons apart and even the ligaments... hahaa! it's like if you have nerve damage affecting pain sensation, stab all you want, tear all you want... if your brain didn't get the 'message/input', you will not react to it... ie. expressing pain, limiting you movement, goes into shock etc. just to add another point.. if you watch closely, Rama's movement range was a bit limited so it was still realistic! hope this convice sally and jerry, sorry for diggin' into your old reviews... lol

I just come across you guys, and I just love your reviews!! and just want to share that I was dragged by my friend to watch these Raid movie since she was going on and on ' it got 'silat' and it's big in US!! ' and since silat has not get enough attention compare to other asian martial arts such kung fu, taekwondo, judo etc.. I thought that's really cool!! (I might say this due to my cultural background as a malay as we practice silat as well, *we're pretty similar to indonesians, hehe*) and I just love that you guys just get immersed into these movies and the backstory and character development, instead of just downing on the actions, don't get me wrong.. the actions is AMAZING!! no doubt about that, I thought I had migraine watching both Raid Redemption and Berandal but it was like a 'good migraine'. I love Uco as well, since he's NOT like the typical rich mafia's son without any charisma, and damn, he's hot *second to Rama*! Lol Sally about 'english' thing... hahahaa! Don't worry, you're not the only one, I actually watch these movies at UK cinemas, there was a few 'Sally' there ... I guess with subtitles, the audiences might miss some details, and to be honest the subtittles kind of miss a few marks, but I'm glad you guys got the story and I finally manage to find a decent review on this epic movies! Thank you guys for keeping me in love with the Raid! I know it's been months.... but if you ever read this Ryan, you're a cool guy... even though you might sound a bit ignorant regarding who's who or what's what, lol ... but that just me being too sensitive...Reel Rejects rule!

Yaay!! Love to see all 3 of u reviewing together. I'm speechless on how great the way u doing the reviews. I have no words to say how phenomenal the movie is. About Sally's concerned on Rama's wound, I think Sally her self answered her own concerned on the Part 2 reviews. I actually agree and love when Sally said "The Raid 1 is Defense, and The Raid 2 is Anger", so I'd like to put it like this, why Rama still able to stand up and fight with that kinda wound..? Its becoz of his anger, the needs of saving his family's life and his own ass. That was just a thought to share tho, what do u guys think..? =)

Here's some info on the new actors in this movie. The guy with baseball bat is Very Tri Yulisman, he's an indonesian from the same pencak silat's school with Iko Uwais. He was an extra in the druglab scene in The Raid 1. The Hammer girl is Julie Estelle, an indonesian actress without martial art background but you should watch her in Macabre (the DVD has just been released in the US). Last but not least is Cecep A. Rahman, the badass one who fight against Rama. He's one of the most famous pencak silat masters in Indonesia. Anyway, Pencak Silat is not a Kung-Fu or any related Japanese Martial Art

The son's name was Uco, and that dude was the god damn Indonesian Joe Pesci. I was so amused at the scene where he and Bejo were having a casual conversation about instigating a war with the Goto family while Uco was just slitting the throats of the hitmen who tried to kill him in prison.

The whole dynamics between Uco (the mob son) and Bangun (the mob boss) hits close to the heart for me. There was a scene that I really like where Uco freaks out on Bangun for bowing to the Japanese mobs. He rebelled against all odds, but in the end failing because of his outreached ambitions. I think Uco embodies the spirit of young, educated Indonesians who want to be independent and removed from the corrupt systems that our fathers created and preserved.

Hmm, at he first time watching your videos I thought You guys were only an Animaniacs-like gang who liked a particular movie and decided to post a video just to see how people were going to react about it, and then you started to talk about cinematography, scenes and things like that. From that point I started guessing that you are the kind of persons who appreciate movies more than just something to distract people from their boring life. The Raid Redemption brought me to your videos, that movie really impressed me by the fact that it's a foreign movie, budgeted with "only" a million dollar but could make something exceedingly entertaining stuff. For those who study movie (like Jerry), there should be something can be taken to learn from. Blah, blah, blah, I'm sorry I'm talking (typing) too much. I wish you a great success and great life fulfillment. And I think you (Ryan) is a talented guy to become a presenter or something, chance is the only thing you need to get. But what am I to judge You. Bye guys.. (and sorry my confusing English).

The only MINOR issue I had from an otherwise excellent movie were the settings where certain scenes were taking place e.g. the nightclub scene, the scene where rama meets the indonesian crime family etc. It felt as if the film was taking place in South Korea or Japan. Even the nightclub scene was a tiny bit far fetched since Indonesia is a strict Islamic country. With the first film, you know it is set in Indonesia with the damp, squalid block of flats (without sounding too pragmatic). Other than that, this was an excellent movie. Personal highlight: the fight scene with baseball guy, hammer girl and kerambit guy
@dimihamuzu10 жыл бұрын
Go to Jakarta, get on a taxi and tell the driver to take you to Colloseum in kota tua.. thats where they shot the night club scene.. Indonesia is not a strict islamic country, we have debauchery in Jakarta that can even put Bangkok to shame lol..

i think the hammer girl and baseball guy should've been more rogue/mysterious type of characters and not have had them get killed because they seemed like really interesting characters that got barely any time to explain who they are, plus the whole thing with the guy with the machete could've been cut from the film entirely and i think the movie even though i still really liked it was to complex for what it needed to be, felt like two movies in one, maybe the director didn't think he'd make another one so he crammed the ideas for a third movie into the second (plus i don't think they should've killed the brother but have him and rama team up again), the movie had a lot of really interesting ideas but what's sad is they just stayed as ideas (not all of them but a few) sorry had to get this off my chest somewhere relevant

But for some part, Rama who kills & fight without talk before - you can call he Berandal too; also Hammer Girl & Prakoso who fight cold blood. *****

Great review guys. Btw Gareth Evans lost his shoes during shooting the mud fight scene. LOL Talking about fighting style Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Captain America: The Winter Soldier fighting style were inspired by The Raid: Redemption. "Michael Bay's NINJA TURTLES Fighting Style Inspired By THE RAID: REDEMPTION" www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=61882 "40 Things I Learned on the ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Set" "The Russo brothers were big fan of The Raid, Joe admitted they studied the action scenes in that movie: “Our DVD players and apple tvs live at quarter speed.” The Raid inspired them to have more hard hitting action in the film, admitting that a lot of real hits have been taken by the stuntmen during this production." www.slashfilm.com/captain-america-the-winter-soldier-set-visit/

Ehhh... I LOVED the first Raid movie, and it didn't require a lot of plot. But the 2nd one has so much dialogue and to me since I've seen so many it's really cliche Asian gangster plot. The action was cool and bloody but not as good as the first movie, and there are much better recent Asian gangster movie plots with more interesting characters and better twists, like a Bittersweet LIfe or New World. And one of main villains was the kingpin's son but he was so annoying to me, just a little diva douchbag gangster who wanted attention, not intimidating, not clever enough to even make any "friends" b/c he was so unlikable. Very unimpressive. If this seems like a good plot you have not seen a good Asian gangster movie. So less action than the 1st Raid and less good plot. Unforgivably disappointing to me :-(. But the direction was good... the movie LOOKED good.
