I’m a daily Ramsey listener- this keeps me motivated. My new dream is having a huge emergency fund, debt free and a paid for house. I don’t need to be famous, don’t need a Ferrari, don’t need fancy food or for people to understand me.

I'm debt free too! No debt other than a new-to-me home which is 15% of my take-home income monthly. Will pay that off in under 7 years. Retirement is now a reality!🎉

Just paid off my $31k school loans (my last debt). Now I'm building my 3-6 month emergency fund before my lease is up end of February; after which I'm moving into a different apartment. Then I can start that downpayment fund.

Hang in there Bethany. You’ve got this. I’m happy to share, I learned how short life is when I lost my Mom(Medical Technologist) to cancer at 62. I have never been materialistic and always a saver. Living frugally and being a minimalist, I retired at 60 free of debt in 2021 with my employer matched and unmatched retirement accounts, my nice size savings and my emergency fund which will see me through at least 2 years of my expenses. Not to mention collecting my well earned Social Security benefits I paid into for decades. Since my teens. The last 24 years busting my butt working in healthcare as a Respiratory Therapist and through the Covid/Delta pandemic 😷. Back in 2013 I paid cash for a brand new 50MPG Toyota Prius Hybrid. The best trouble free investment I ever made. Saving me a ton of money. Awesome car!. Today my Prius continues running like new. Since retiring, I rarely drive; so Lol!, my Prius will probably outlast me.😂😂😂😂😅😅😅Zero Debt=Freedom and Peace of mind. Now as a family of retirees, we’re gratefully blessed, thriving and enjoying our comfortable and well deserved retirement.😊🎉🎉🎉🎉 God bless you Bethany.

I’m 22 years old in about $5000 dollars worth of debt, I’ve been through criminal court cases, and could’ve died numerous amounts of times. I’m glad God opened my eyes young and forgives me for walking down the wrong path. I’m working and knocking down my debt. My cases were dismissed and I stopped hanging around the wrong crowd. I am more family oriented and accept that God is in control. Whatever you think you are facing God can make a way trust me many of my friends are dead or in jail I could’ve been another number but god had bigger plans for me. THANK YOU LORD!!

I enjoy Mr. Ramsey and learned so much from him ! I’m done, it seems like the Dr. John called a man who’s son died a coward. I’m stunned, where’s his apology to the father who turned the family financials over to his wife ?

@frederickruderman2997 I was surprised too as that Dr. John called a 60 years old father who raised 7 kids and lost one son a coward, just because the man gave a duty to his wife to do home budget. I agree with you that Dr. John needs to to apologize that man.

There has to be more to the story. And action is cowardly. So the action is what he is probably referring to. So whatever the guy did in his life that was great, is not in question. You can be a great person, but still act cowardly. We are imperfect beings. I'd need to see the context of the episode to understand fully tho.

I incurred serious debt while I was younger but learnt to outgrow them through the years by learning how to save and in. vest strategically. With good adv. ice and guida nce I had 25% of my ea r n in gs in an IRA, the rest in peculiar index fun ds, futu res, S &P's etc that grew about 4mill in 8 years. The first 3 years of a baby's life needs to be spent with their mother. No matter what dave says. Don't put a child under 3 in daycare. You're better off living in your mom's basement than leaving some stranger to raise your kid in the most important years of their life. Never, under any circumstance, put a child under 3 into daycare!!

Women, unless you have a mental breakdown, you cannot check out and have your husbands take care of everything. You need to know your bills, your debt, your payments etc. You already know his income, you need to know the outgoing.

Dave is off base when he says "Your husband is full of crap" regarding the man who does not want to pay for his children's college. Dave thinks just because it worked out for his kids that it's the right thing to do for everyone. People who pay for their own education are much more likely to appreciate their education, do well in school, and succeed after school. It's clearly a sensitive subject for Dave. "The borrower is slave to the lender". Dave has even said before that he liked having control over his kids while they were in school by being the one who is paying for their education. I find his opinion on this contrary to Ramsey principles.
