It should be noted, the Starfighter's death toll tended to be from nations we gave it to, as it was an aircraft that was designed for pilots with experience with jet aircraft. The main issue was when pulling up out of an attack run, new pilots would, understandably, pull the stick back as far as possible. However, due to the airframe, if you pulled it back over 15 degrees at that high a speed, youd lose control. *Honestly, at that point, just make the airplane not able to pull the elevator that far in the first place.*

It should also be noted that most of those foreign nations like Canada, Japan, Tiawan, Pakistan, Italy and Spain had average to below average accident records with the starfighter, and it was primarily the Germans who caused most of the issues and complained the most (Other countries like Belgium also had high loss rates, but almost all of the memes about the Starfighter can be traced back to the Germans).

Fun fact: Apparently it was meant to have an ejection seat that ejects downwards so the pilot doesn't hit the tail while flying at high speeds. The reason it didn't go through was because it was not only stupid but a literally death sentence if your flying at low level since it literally will turn you into the ordnance

For whatever reason, the Germans decided to use this thing as a base for their VTOL aircraft (before it was cancelled). You’d think that for an aircraft design that needs to take off and land vertically, you would want an aircraft capable of flying slower than mach 1 without immediately stalling. Fun fact: You can pick a F-104 and use it to build a cool land speed racer, a jet car that runs at 700 kilometers (440 miles) per hour. Purchase one decommissioned F-104, remove and dispose its wings, and add some down force producing aerodynamic trim. Why? Because it will eventually run so fast it can actually take off, and you don't want to fly in a vehicle that's not supposed to fly.
