Watching this video on? you guessed it, my late 2007 2.2GHZ black Macbook, I love it but I wish they had a more updated GPU that is supported by modern MacOS such as El CAPITAN without a sketchy way of doing it. I'm in the process to get a 2009 white macbook and this can run up to sierra.

I have one from 2008. I love it. Still running fine, but I’m going to upgrade the hard drive to an SSD with 1 or 2TB. Had to replace the battery about two years ago. Gotta love the FireWire and CD drive.

I got one for US$22.50, it was untested but worked immediately minus the battery. Luckily there was also a toast 2009 one with a working battery. I love mine!

As much as Snow Leopard was great, today it's extremely hard to use, where as Lion is much easier to use. With the graphics of these things, they can't run anything newer than Mountain Lion, although patching them to this version is better than nothing! Then, there are browsers that will play KZbin in 720P easily on Mountain Lion! To solve that, you can put a MacBook 5.2 motherboard in it. You'd need a MacBook 5.2 DVD drive as well, as not only the connector is different but not plugging it in makes it so you can't close the device properly. You NEED the right DVD drive. Screw holes for the cooler aren't in the right spot. You need to tape the cooler with heat resistant tape and break the metal part of the original screw holes as it can cause shorts. The cooler is also different as well as the heat sensor connector(s), so you need that from a MacBook 5.2 as well. The webcam will not work and there's nothing you can do. Once done though, you can patch it to Catalina and use this wonderful black MacBook today!

@@frokfrdk Well I was given a MacBook 5.2 motherboard. which was dead. Quickly noticed an open circuit burned inductor that I replaced. Now it works. I put it in a white case, which I had to do a few little mods to, and didn't do that on the black one I had which I kept original, but it's definitely possible if you want to get more use out of it. And of course you can patch the original motherboard to Mountain Lion, install Chrome, and enjoy smooth web browsing + youtube!

The Blackbook is not that rare. I got two of them. The black MacBook4,1 was the fastest one of the A1181 - only the 2,13 Nvidia equipped MacBook5,2 was performant. No RAM upgrade for this. The 4 GB are shown as 4 GB, yes. But as this is a 32 Bit computer with a 64 Bit CPU, Mac OS X only handles 3 GB. Apples EFI was even worse than some BIOS' of that time (I saw Windows PCs using 3 GB, 3.25 GB, 3.5 GB, and even 3.75 GB when equipped with 4 GB of physical RAM - but only on 32 Bit versions of Windows; I never saw a Windows 64 Bit installation utilizing less memory than it was installed).
