Really dry, powerful sound! Contrasts well with the thin-shell toms and bass. (Clear Pinstripes match so well with thin-shell toms. It's like how they sound good with Yamaha RCs with the 1.6mm hoops and clear Diplomats on the bottoms: warm but punchy.) Ross Garfield has talked about the dryness of thick-shell Sonors, and this stave shell design has some of that vibe - a brief sound that records well. Thanks for sharing this snare discovery!

Great video! I know the Peavey drums don't tend to get a whole lot of love from the drumming community, but I always thought they sounded fantastic.

I used to run the drum department at a Peavey retailer here in Michigan and I remember when these came in. Drummers wanted nothing to do with them. Goofy looking, heavy, weird spacing between drums and the kicker was the "badge" was a really thick sticker. The sticker was too thick and would come off of the drums or tilt so it looked cheap and Peavy already had a mixed reputation with their instrument line. Add to this that they were expensive and we practically had to give them away. I always thought they sounded as nice or better than the best Yamahas and Ludwigs we carried. We have a lot in common. I am also a drummer and a professor. I teach recording technology. Love the C24 and the Grace pres..tasty :)

From what I've heard the drum builder who designed the Premier Resonator drums (do you own any Rick?) was the mastermind behind this series for Peavey . I saw a Bobby Rock clinic back in the 90's and his Peavey kit was painted like the Sistine Chapel . seriously!

Thanks for this Peavey Radial videos. Interestingly, these drums do not have vent holes. How does this affect feel and tuning?

They do not have vent holes. They tune up easily and sound great so it's a non factor. Thanks
